Super duty 6.7 , with a hawk, the pintop kit, radius arms. Alcan springs and apex chassis ball joints is the perfect setup. My camper lives full time on the truck and it handles amazing with highway speeds, off trails thru Colorado. And Utah. CJC is top notch their products and customer service. Then all the honest education they put out there.
I have a 2024 Chevy trail boss LT and I want a Hawk I'm not going off road just driving around the country what kind of shocks and leafsprings would I need you sound very knowledgeable about this stuff thanks.
I already had the commuter system with the stock rear plus block and Carli front sway bar. Ended up finding a deal on a hawk. I know it’s not the ideal set up but man is it ever pretty damn good. Got back from a trip down to Moab area. Did some easy trails for better camping and it performed great. I added stable loads to the over load spring to help with the sag. . Moving forward i think i will get the leaf pack but thats mostly an i just hate the idea of the block sorta thing. Cjc and Carli have been well worth it so far. Great products.
Wow!This was timely. Considering moving away from a hitch towed rv to exactly your setup! My current “plan” is to leave it essentially “on” for about 75% of the year….. spring summer and fall! I’ll be looking in the channel for your thoughts on the 4WC Hawk as well! I have a 21 F250 Tremor stock as of right now!
Always grateful for you guys and the info you bring to the table. I noticed that it looks like you found a way to fit a larger tire underneath in the spare tire location. I'm curious about a couple of things, What size tire are you running? and How did you manage to get it under there? Also, Did you have to add on any tie-ons to the frame such as D-rings?
They are, but they are not tuned for full time weight. The Pintop package has different shock tunes specifically designed for the different leaf options and weight associated and each was actually physically tuned on a representative truck.
What would you recommend for a 2024 Ram 3500 w/8’ bed and a fully loaded FourWheel Camper Granby? I’ve already installed Firestone airbags. Additionally, I tow a 3-horse bumper-pull horse trailer and don’t want to change my towing capabilities. I travel a lot of pot-holed Forest Service roads in the northwest. Located in WA State. Thank you.
We offer this exact same setup for the Ram platform actually! Check out this video as a perfect example: th-cam.com/video/wPor-tpt9Lg/w-d-xo.html Feel free to email us at sales@cjcoffroad.com if you have more questions.
A bit unrelated to the video but im getting a commuter kit on my f250 with full deavers. I will be towing around 10k-11k lbs but only a couple times a year. Dont really want to do airbags for only the few times I’ll be towing this weight. Do you think timbren springs would be a viable option for these occasions instead of airbgas?
I owe a Thor Omni on an F550 chassis, I am planning a 4” lift with either 37’s or 41’s; what would be your recommendation for improved ride comfort, handling and occasional fire roads. I see other manufacturers are installing Liquid Springs on similar motorhomes, but I find it difficult to justify the cost.
Nope! This is a softer Carli sway bar up front, no sway bar rear, and XHD leaf packs and shock tuning. The stability from the proper shock tuning and spring rate allows the truck to stay planted on off cambers and corners, but articulate freely off road. With a stiff rear sway bar the truck would tip rather than articulate.
So if you go for the dedicated camper set up. You said you’re going with the Carli heavy duty full travel leaf spring and a custom tuned shock is this different from the already custom tuned shock that Carli offers with say a standard kit with just a soft ride leaf packs?
I guess what I’m asking is. Are there a different custom shocks within each package that is offered like it’s the king pin top 2.5 inch and then are there variations of that shock that are not available on the standard website?
Yes, each package has a specific tune for the spring rate and load associated. Carli actually took the time to physically tune on example trucks with the standard, HD, XHD, and XXHD leaf packs and campers.
I recently purchase the Pintop system for my '98 Ram 2500HD W/full size 2500lbs Camper. Have it all in hand but ordered my XXHD leafs from Deaver seperately. How do I know if my shocks new 2.5 shocks are tuned for XXHD or not? Can I get them tuned if not? Thanks
Your shocks are the normal tune for an empty truck. Since we don't have an existing tune for a 2nd gen Ram, you might want to reach out to Carli directly as they might be able to custom tune your shocks for your setup.

For something like that, liquid spring might be a nice fit. The off road usage is limited to low speeds and dirt roads, but that's all you're ever really going to do in a full motorhome that large.

Great video! But I think we are all waiting on that gorgeous 3rd gen! I am borderline ready to just drive up!
It's getting all the boring, small details tended to so we can finally take it out for a proper desert rip!
Carli and CJC for the win.

Great video! What tires are you running in this video and what size? Looks great
This truck is on 37/13.5/18 Falken RT tires. They're a great option if you need high load capacity.
nice build👍🏻
Would a Carli Commuter system F250 on 37s be difficult to get in and out of without running boards or is it doable for the average guy?
Sooo, why not E-venture? They're basically electric pintop King 2.5s, no?
They are, but they are not tuned for full time weight. The Pintop package has different shock tunes specifically designed for the different leaf options and weight associated and each was actually physically tuned on a representative truck.

I have been thinking about this same thing. I was planning on doing timbrens until I can afford the full travel bags.

Looking at that Hawk camper, can you push it further into the back and still retain the tailgate to use as a "deck"?
Sadly no.
Great video- Have a Hawk in my 01 7.3, what MPG are you getting with your rig Cody (with FWC)?
Are you running your rear sway bar with the pintop XHD set up or did you delete? Great vid btw!
Nope! This is a softer Carli sway bar up front, no sway bar rear, and XHD leaf packs and shock tuning. With the XxHD leafs do you still recommend running the Timben SES (like on the non "X" HD Carli/Deaver leafs?)
Nope! You’ll run just the leaf pack as that will fully support the load
