    Great progress! I hope you can show us your various designs for the rain catchment system before you install it. I personally like the large fiddles around the edges. But, I'd love to see you compare samples.

      Well.... we already started building it into the roof. We went with a modified version of our inset trough. You'll see that in next week's video.

    Well organised project as usual
    I would suggest getting some metal right angle sections, drill holes through the tabletops where required, and screw the metal as legs from mould intersection corners, all the way to the ground, through the tabletops, .
    Probably only needed in half a dozen key locations, but as you will be moving around on the tables, the extra stability and anchoring effect could be useful.
    You badly needed a big shed.
    Can you get those industrial tents that span huge areas with containers supporting the sides like we can in Australia?

    • @SailingSVLynx
      @SailingSVLynx  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      We put one of those big tunnel tents up... then the city made us take it down the next day at a great loss of time and money :( We'll make due.

    Every Saturday evening here in philippines I keep looking for your video for the week. I'm getting ready to lay the woven roven fiberglass on my hulls. It's so hot now in philippines that I can only do epoxy work after dark. I'm using poly tech clear laminating epoxy resin and it has a fast working time above 28 degrees Celsius.
    I always look forward to watching your video's every week.

      Yeah dry seasons rough there, i have a house there too , But on the positive side when it cools down you have the best labor available for about P500 a day. The amount of labor to build a cat is massive, your in the right place for sure to get it done . By the way you probably already know but amazon delivers there from u s , a guy in iloilo said he even got free shipping with prime, Because its difficult to find quaility parts there like fittings , brass , and quality stainless, etc.

      @PaulWallis-c7y 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @CJ-ok7rk I'm not hiring any help to build my cat. It is taking me longer to build but I know how it's built. When I do the fiberglassing of the hulls I will have 2 extra people to help with it. My wife will be the epoxy mixer and her cousin will assist me in placing the glass onto the hulls. I bought a 40kg roll of woven roven.

    dan lee boatbuilding youtube channel has a perfect way of making things level even if the ground is not level! he made the kit boat temptress. sure it is just a small runabout. but if i where to build thi boat. i would adjust the plans and kits to allow for his way of leveling the strongbacks. you almost got it done his way by having the stilths stand up(sorry english not my first language)

    • @SailingSVLynx
      @SailingSVLynx  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the suggestion, but the two sections we had to level on he ground are both about done. The cabin top is on and the bridgedeck is nearly finished. After that, all remaining work will be done in or on the boat.

  • @theromihs
    @theromihs 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    WOW!! That cabin roof is huge!
    Maneuvering it onto the bulkheads will be quite a tricky process. Do you know someone in the construction industry that you could borrow scaffolding from?
    Scaffolding would be ideal as none of the weight of the roof or people helping move it would need to be carried by the hulls while it's being maneuvered.
    I'm a little concerned about the "Big Bertha" bulkhead not being able to carry the weight of the roof. That bulkhead needs the support of the floor/bridgedeck assembly to ensure it's stability. Any weight on top of this bulkhead will translate to a force pushing the two hulls apart because the bottom of it is open (due to the door cutout). Schionning should have left that bulkhead complete and only cut some of the doorway outline, with several tabs holding everything together, which would get removed once the bridgedeck is fully glued and tabbed to the bulkhead.

    • @SailingSVLynx
      @SailingSVLynx  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It would have been nice if they had left that door to be cut out later, but we solved that issue by bolting two 2x4 pieces of wood through it, sandwiching the foam between them. That means it can't spread at all now. We won't be sliding the cabin top over the tops of the bulkheads, we'll keep it above them the whole way in and then just gently lower it down onto the supports that will hold it about a foot above the bulkheads for a little while while we construct the salon walls and place the beams at the stern of the cockpit that hold the weight. We just want it up there making shade for the hot part of the summer!

    Just finished binging all 85 episodes.
    Some questions if I may.
    I've not used West Systems but other resins I have used you overcome the rapid set at temperature by reducing the amount of hardener. Can you not do the same with WS resin?
    Your Lynx Logo keeps shifting his/her eye patch from left to right. Is this a comment generator?
    Really enjoying your build. Keep up the good work.

    • @SailingSVLynx
      @SailingSVLynx  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      lol, we had some discussions on which way to have the patch (you would think we had better things to do). We finally settled on the left eye. We will check with West Systems about the hardener.

      @@SailingSVLynx For right eye see....First 37 episodes thumbnail, Bottom corner of the screen on all episodes, opening of each video with the compass rose.
      that's what happens when you watch 85 episodes over a week.
      Talking of comment generation I watch a channel where the guy is driving a digger. Behind him is a fire extinguisher holder minus the extinguisher. The extinguisher is actually down beside the seat where it can be better accessed once you are out of the cab (getting out is more important). He says he gets dozens of comments on every vid.

      Only resin you can add less harder in to slow down process is polyester resin or add more hardner to speed it up in cooler weather. Epoxy resin can't be changed for the mixture ratio. If you put less or more hardner it want setup right.
