Dyed muslin fabrics for dollmaking. Used a glass casserole dish instead of a drinking glass. Set the color with vinegar & cold water. Then dried flat outside (Phoenix, AZ). Never tried avocados(?) ☕ Thank you for your video.
Hey there DC in RB, thanks for watching and thank you so much for the feedback and advice! The Avocado dye video comes out Tomorrow at 8:00am, so check back then if you want to see it! I will try the vinegar next time! Thanks again. xoxo, Laura
As you use the towel or whatever you make, can you use warm water and detergent to wash them? Im wanting to dye white wash cloths brown so i can tell from my bath cloths and cleaning home cloths.
Is there a way to make it darker? Like using actually darker coffee or repeating the process more than once. Also what if the fabric is already brown-ish in the first place? Thanks for making the video btw, and a nice one at that.
Thanks for watching the video SuperNanoBros. I'm not sure I haven't tried those variations just the ones you see in the video. You could have a fun experiment and then report back to share your findings! Hope that helps. Have a good day
Can you mix the black bean water dye with the coffee water dye to get a grayish brown color???? Please answer when you have the time thank you, btw I love your videos Laura 💖
Hey there Monster :D I haven't tried mixing those two, but I did mix a black bean dye with a Concord grape dye to get a really vibrant sky blue. I also dyed some wool with marigold petals which gave a really bright golden yellow. I then double dyed the yellow into the black bean grape blue dye, and made a really beautiful bright green! It will be in a tutorial video coming in March! Thank you for the sweet comment :) xoxo Laura
Hey there Debbie! I am so glad to see you in the comments! Videos will be coming back more regularly now! I took a little time off for another business, but now I am BACK BABY! (new video comes out tomorrow morning!) xoxo Laura (ps, thank you for your continued support)
How does a natural dye hold up on clothing that will go through repeated washing such as a pair of pants? Any idea if reducing the water in the coffee over a low simmer gives a concentrated dye? It would seem so.
Thank you for watching charisma balisacan. Good question and there is only one way to find out! Sacrifice one and see what happens hehe. I only answer it this way because I haven't done it myself yet. Hope this helps. Have a good day
I don't think so. Polyester has to be dyed differently because it's not a natural fiber. I think you need to do it chemically but I don't know much more.
Your "oops" is the soundtrack to my crafting life. Lovely result, thanks for that. No salt though?
Thank you for watching Rogerborg

Hey Laura, can I use instant coffee? its the easiest to get in ireland
totally. I have a pot with coffee, and onion skins at the same time going right now. With natural dye, there are no rules!!!
@@LastMinuteLaura I was going to ask the same question.
can you dye colored clothes? i’m trying to dye a pair of very light purple jeans to brown and idk if it will work. please help!!
Hey did it work ?I want to do something similar
Would this work on a red colored shirt that is cotton lycra ?

It goes pretty far and been lasting for years. Thanks for watching
Is it safe to use the stove for cooking afterwoods??
Can I maybe use a few layers of cloth to filter out the coffee granules?
yes, and I would recommend letting the yarn/ fabric sit in there for as long as you can stand it. add a few tea bags add tannins to set the dye!
Hmm, I need to dye something brown or tan. Wonder if Molasses would work.
Thanks for watching
Can you dye white cotton fabric with graphic print in coffee?

About to try this on a white hat see what happens :)
good luck!

Would this work on canvas material? I'm doing a bookbinding and it's for my cover.
Just give it a shot and report back :D
@@LastMinuteLaura it wasn't a super dark stain but it made it look really cool and rugged. Thanks!
does it work on jeans
Next time try a mordant and you'll get more color.
Want to like but it's at 111 and I don't want to wreck it.
