    That's my baby. I started in USAF working AC-130H, MC-130E, and C-130E. Love that bird. You take care of it and it'll take care of you.

    Ya know, I love watching F-22, F-16 (I worked on those), F-15 flight demos as much as the next guy, but something about a C-130 performing like that (still love my old "E" model, though) just kinda blows them all out of the water!! I'm ready to see a C-17, or C-5 get with the program next!! LOL!!!

    Absolutely, awesomely, spectacular performance! My colleague at work was incidentally asking how aircraft steer in the air and what those moving flaps (control surfaces were for). I explained to him and he very much understood, but after watching this video, I can't imagine why I shouldn't post him a copy to see for himself what I explained to him. This video captured detailed control surface deflections and the landing rollout was incredibly dramatic (especially that brake/thrust reverse-assisted nosewheel lift at the end). You guys have to send me more videos like this from aircraft you make!

    Hats off !! ... for Wayne Roberts ( the pilot in this demo ) and everyone involved in the initial design and continued development of this bird since 1956. I read a fire fighting version will be available. The way things are going there will be customers ( California ? ) lining up for that one.

      They've had one for over 60 yrs. Look up the "4 Horsemen C-130". There's not much video about them, but they flew from 57-60. Initially they wanted to show what the "new" transport could do and then made a show of it until they were redeployed away from each other.

    Well looks like this will be the next Fat Albert for the Blue Angels😆👍. I never thought I would see a C-130 model do a Loop thats was crazy. Hope we see more vids about this LM-100J.😄

    • @Locutus494
      @Locutus494 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, Fat Albert will always be an older model C-130 (the one in this video isn't a C-130 by the way). There's no way the Marine Corps can afford to give up one of its new models for permanent demo duty.

    • @dc_aviation25
      @dc_aviation25 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I know the marines wouldn’t buy an LM-100J just for demos, it was just a little joke. I was amazed by the agility of the LM-100J and the first thing I thought about was of course Fat Albert for the Blue Angels. Mainly because I know Fat Albert’s demo is always cool to watch and doesn’t get old. So like I said it was just a little joke, I wasn’t saying the marines have to buy this LM-100J.

    This plane nearly doubles it's weight when carrying a full load, so when it's just the pilots and some fuel, it's got a lot of spare lift and power to perform these maneuvers. Fantastic demonstration.

      "During 1963, a KC-130F aircraft made history by landing and taking off
      from the aircraft carrier; USS Forrestal (CVA-59). The crew successfully
      negotiated 29 touch-and-go landings, 21 unarrested full-stop landings,
      and 21 unassisted takeoffs at gross weights of 85,000 pounds up to
      121,000 pounds. "

      Can't give you the actual numbers anymore but they don't need much room to land depending on how much weight they are carrying.

    • @stevegyro1
      @stevegyro1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Amazing. If you watch the nose gear, it lifts off the ground at the end of the landing!
      Think that may be the reactive force from the high-G's during braking cycle.

    Who would ever have thought that a massive turboprop C-130 could be capable of such stunning moves?! I remember seeing a lot of these flying when we had wildfires in Utah. I was awestruck watching them. Our Air Force Pilots are rockstars. Don’t these also have jet-assisted take off also?

    • @Cajun76
      @Cajun76 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A bit misnamed, the JATO are rockets. As far as I know, only military C-130s were fitted for them, but I believe the "J" models don't have that capability anymore, both due to the JATO stocks being depleted, and the new RR AE 2100 engines being significantly more powerful than the older T56/501s that I worked on.

    A C-130 can crash land on the Antarctic, get buried under ice for 30 years, then it can be dug up and made to fly again. (It actually happened.) It also does a neat loop. Is there anything it can't do? I mean, why are there other planes at all?

    GOOD GRIEF! At empty weight of 77,000lbs, I almost expected that to drop out of the sky. I wish they would have done that at Oshkosh last week!! Aside from the updates, this plane has been flying for over 50 years. Americans have the Boeing 747-AF with a mtow of 98,7099lbs and Russians have the incredible Antonov An-225 with a whopping 1,410,958 mtow. The technology of 3D flying planes, and now helicopters and gliders, is amazing but other than returning to supersonic civilian flight or teleportation, it seems the industry may run out of room for advances. The only increase seems to be how big a pair of "rudders" these insane pilots have. If you've never seen a glider do a vertical dead stall and recover to full loops check this guy out. th-cam.com/users/results?search_query=manfred+radius+salto+sailplane

      My glider instructor did that to me the first flight I took with him. Recovered into an outside loop as well. I don't know what pissed him off that day. As for me, I almost gave up on the spot, my stomach and head were not happy. I think a bit of weeding was occurring in the club at the time.
