I'm so happy I found this channel, it's a real treat to see the work being done. It's making a great reality show in some way and a pleasure to be going along on the journey with you. You are the perfect host, fun, vibrant, optimistic and positive. I hope it all comes together!
This is a great story. Everyone who loves history and heritage will be wishing you well with this extraordinary project. Cutting the grass in your suit is proof, if we need it, that you are a true aristocrat, m'lud.
Hello Hopwood Iam glad you are here in the uk doing your past family proud .I have sean all vids over the last few day s Iam and have done many of my own diy the traditional ways so i watch on enthusiastical and hope to follow you and maybe get to see it at me point if its allowed albeit from my home as i carnt do much thesedays
Good for you, Hopwood. It's a great pleasure to see what you are doing for the ancestral home, because it's a historical treasure for the British people and the local people feel better for it being preserved. Now that you have the American mentality of social equally, you are cheering up the house and the people. Dual citizenship status is possible between the UK and the USA. Investigate it. Your ancestors who died in the first world war are beloved veterans for the cause of freedom in the world.
Is the restoration complete Sir? Was hoping you'd share some photos/videos when it's all done. It's fantastic that you cared enough to save the estate. Just imagine that after you're done it could go on for another 600 year! That would be such an awesome thing!
This is the 2nd documentary that I have seen that you have uploaded, and my comments on the other still stand. Where the rose garden was is where I managed to get in order to take some photos. This is outside the fence as all the photos I took were, so I hope you don't mind. I also managed to get a picture, (though not a good one), of the double doors. Also a bit of history info for you, the original Hopwood Arms Pub is one of the two large houses on either side of Thornham Lane. Again thank you there was a lot of reminiscing going on today, the students also went to the Ship Inn and I used to go to Mass at the chapel.
this is just fabulous!!! wonderful that he has well established knowledgeable historians on board & the hearts of the community. hes young and most respectful of others talents. glad that castle didnt fall to cage..ahem... i think life in Manchester will suit him just fine.

I've had a similar ancestral reconnection experience in the Middle East with my newly discovered family Clan there, a very fascinating story! Would be nice to meet you sometime Hopwood if you're still UK side
@@HopwoodXIV there are some interesting features around the perimeter of your House near the local woodland have you seen it? Seems to be some sort of irrigation system or water channels, I was cycling nearby once and noticed it (From your house towards where Oaken Bank Road is). I think your family may have built them along with the stone walls above
@@HopwoodXIV i live quite locally to it (Only 2 minutes away), we could take some bikes from my house and go explore it sometime if you like. There's also a really huge camoflaged Bunker looking thing near there too that I discovered whilst scrolling through Google maps in Satellite/Terrain view. Certainly worth seeing!

Yes there is a lot to do but one day she will be back to her former glory!
Way to go Hopwood. Well done. I miss living in UK. I hope you get to reside there. Maybe Keith Hopwood of Hermans Hermits fame could help.
So great to see you getting this coverage by the BBC! :) I've been following your progress from here in Canada. So interesting!
Thanks so much for following the journey!
I think I just found my new favorite channel.
