A person was struck by an Amtrak here recently and, in a first, media reported that they couldn't determine the sex of the deceased due to the condition of the body. They later determined it was a male. They never gave that much detail before.

At least that man could have got up and snatched the other man that was on the tracks off the tracks when the train was coming. He said and did absolutely nothing. Had his back turned to the train and showed no concern for the man that was on the tracks.

Why would people be on the Railroad Tracks at all? It illegal where I live. It's not illegal to cross the tracks, of course, but it is illegal to walk either on or directly beside the Railroad Tracks. I heard of one person, years ago, that was killed by a passing Train as he walked alongside the Railroad Tracks. Apparently, he thought that he was far enough away from the oncoming Train, and that he'd be alright. He wasn't. This person apparently had a piece of loose clothing, possibly a Jacket or a shirt. Somehow, a part of one of the boxcars that was being hauled by the Train caught that loose clothing, and the force of the boxcar sideswiped this person in such a way, that he kind of...well...rolled across the side of that boxcar, and when that happened, literally every bone in his body was shattered/pulverized. This person kind of quivered for a split second, then fell down dead, in a jello-like heap! This happened probably 30-35 years ago...but a friend of mine, that was there, saw it happen with his own eyes. He told me about it, several years after it happened...and that tragic and very gross event has stuck with me to this day. The old saying about there being more than a hundred ways to die is right! What a horrid way to go!

I cant remember, but the reason people are killed, is because they walk along the tracks, they assume the wheels are like a cars wheels aare the outside. But thats not the case, a trains wheels sit inward, and if i remember right, they hank over about 6 to 8 feet further, on each side of the train. So if your walking along, standing next, too the tracks its going to hit ya. And hears another piece, if you think a trainwill stop if your foot, leg arm are in front of the wheels, I can assure you, it will cut your body apart, like a hot knife through butter. Too even be on the tracks is a crime, even if your just walking along them. The reason i know, is because i responded to two kids on the tracks, sleeping. And they didnt know, that night would be their last, with an unscheduled train. It waa a big deal getting drunk, and sleeping on the tracks. And myself, and numerous others had to walk, for about a mile and a half. Picking up pieces and parts, its not a joke, it'll cut body parts faster than you can say go! And its its Awful!.....

It is unknown if he will recover or not.
As a former locomotive engineer for more than 43 years, I have had that experience many times and I can tell you , killing a pedestrian is no picnic for the engineer as well yes the family will mourn the death but that experience lives with you for the rest of your life. And everyone after that just seems to make you relive all the previous deaths . seeing it coming and not being able to do anything about it is the most helpless feeling ever. For some reason on these videos the brakes are applied when the train is ten feet away from the object.
