  • SIBELIUS-DARK is a cosmological simulation of the Local Universe, presented in McAlpine et al. 2022.
It was specially trained to reproduce the structures of the Local Universe. For example, in the video we see the Perseus Galaxy Cluster, one our most massive neighbours.
SIBELIUS-DARK is part of the “Simulations Beyond the Local Universe” (SIBELIUS) project, and is the largest and most comprehensive ‘constrained realisation’ simulation to date. It covers a volume up to a distance 600 million lightyears from Earth and is represented by over 130 billion simulated ‘particles’, requiring many thousands of computers working in tandem over several weeks and producing over 1 Petabyte of data.
It was performed on the DiRAC COSmology MAchine (COSMA) operated by the Institute for Computational Cosmology of Durham University.

IF it doesn't blow your mind, I'm not sure one fully grasps the enormity here represented.

Es impresionante que todo esto fue realizado solamente en ecuaciones fisicas y matemáticas, las computadoras pronto llegarán a un punto impensado por un ser humano, algo realmente superior.

It would be interesting to do this simulation without Lambda CDM and instead lean on gravito-magnetic framing dragging as the force that induces spacetime to act like a shear thinning fluid. A rheopectic fluid spacetime might allow for the unexplained rotation of disc galaxies Vera Rubin attributed to unseen particulate matter.

Est-ce que l'univers a un centre ou un axe central ?
La simulation semble un peu limitée de ce point de vue.
