Why Cole Sprouse Is 'Absolutely NOT' Doing a 'Suite Life' Reboot

- Cole Sprouse appeared on Tuesday’s episode of ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ and revealed why he’s not down for a ‘Suite Life of Zack & Cody’ reboot. Cole and his twin brother, Dylan Sprouse, starred in the hit Disney show and, later, ‘The Suite Life on Deck,’ from 2005 to 2011. When ET chatted with the ‘Riverdale’ star in 2019, the 25-year-old actor said he wouldn’t be down for a ‘Friends’ reboot either. However, during his chat with Drew, Cole opened up about having a major crush on Jennifer Aniston while filming the hit sitcom.

@Torone Ent. Uhm... it’s been 9 years since iCarly ended. That’s literally a whole fucking decade. I mean, yeah, I guess it’s kind of too early, but idk.
To be honest “Suite Life” was one of those few shows that was able to explore all the creative angles it could’ve. They had the show for a good while. The spin off, and then a final movie, so there’s really no point in revisiting the story anymore.
Except the bittersweet end of On Deck with no telling where Zack and Cody could go after high school

Even if they did a reboot of the show, it could never recapture the nostalgia of the original. There are things in the past that should be left in , well, the past.
@@aquastone2185 Even Ashley tisdale said she wouldn't do a suite life reboot because they're all Adults now (well Ashley was already in her early 20s) so it would be weird and if Zack and Cody have kids in the reboot it wouldn't focus on them it would focus on the kids. ( ex Ravens home) Ashley did say she would love to work with all of them again but not in a suite life reboot but on a different show or film
Right. It’s like producers, creators or whoever comes up with the idea thinks that it will have the same feel as the original. It doesn’t.

I agree with Cole. Not everything has to be rebooted. Now I hear Batman: The Animated Series might be rebooted. I loved that show too; it was a masterpiece. But I fear a reboot might ruin it. How about we show some originality instead, Hollywood?
I wouldn't mind a little short though, nothing big just like a 20 min episode to just see everyone come together again at the Tipton, not a reboot though. But i think that would just make everyone want a reboot lol.

He's spot on about that. Sitcoms are products of their time. They have huge reliance on the culture and society around them. Trying to recapture the same magic 10-15 years later will most likely only result in cringe.

I think to be entirely fair this one came at a poor time. First no one could agree on how adult it should be or what network should pick it up and then the pandemic hit, so whatcha gonna do.
@@k.t202 very true, but I feel like even if we didn't have the pandemic we would have gotten the same result. The two other issues you talked about probably would still be there. When the creator left, I didn't think the show would survive. Love Lizzie and wish we would have seen her navigate life as an adult but maybe it wasn't meant to be
@@Tameker6 I'm pretty sure the disapointment would still be present. We saw this with girl meets world the spin off to boy meets world, it did not thrive in the same way. Fuller House is probably a good reboot.. but yeah, thats very uncommon. Honestly, I'd be down to see a Lizzie McGuire movie lol, it would fair better imo than a whole season or more reboot.
@@k.t202 yes you are definitely right about that. The reboots, reimagining tv shows and making sequels to certain movies always falls into dangerous territory. I have only seen a few episodes of Riverdale but see fans complaining about it, I thought The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was well done. A movie would probably be a much better approach for Lizzie or maybe do a miniseries like they did for Gilmore Girls (although many of us were disappointed with the way it turned out). They filmed two episodes so I am really curious to know if it would have even been something that we like and want it to continue or hope that the show would have gone in another direction, I wish they would let us have a say.
I completely agree with cole. Why can’t we just let things end while they’re good? Half the time the reboots end up being super cheesy and ruining the series (looking at you fuller house)
As if Full House wasn’t already the cheesiest show ever though 😂 don’t get me wrong, I was a HUGE diehard Full House fan but I don’t get why people think Fuller House is this cheesy, tacky, off-brand reboot when it seems we’ve forgotten how incredibly cheesy the original show was to begin with. It was just more “ok” because of the times...now everybody is a self qualified critic in film & TV lmao

@@bwebz they aren't the same at all. Fuller house has to tip toe around EVERY little "trigger point" for people where as full house would openly make insanely dark jokes. Fuller house just feels like an extended skit from a late night talk show.

The OG was definitely more open to inappropriate adult humour and the reboot certainly played it safer in it’s writing, but I was just saying the OG was cheesy enough already that it makes sense that Fuller House is as “bad” as it is.

People make reboots for nostalgia and fan service ( which is cool sometimes) , but it wares off very quickly.
Yup, look at Lizzie McGuire reboot, Hilary Duff wanted Lizzie to be mature as her age, but Disney wanted to make Lizzie McGuire like it was back in 2000 because the audience are now for children which i hated so freaking much

I’d want a spin-off just to see Cody and Bailey together on screen again. At the least, Debby should have a guest appearance on Riverdale and share scenes with Cole.

One thing I wish for the world of Suite Life is that the series finale for Suite Life on Deck was a bit more polished up as it had many things left unanswered and character arcs seemingly unfinished imo. If the finale was executed well it would've been one of Disney Channel's greats

I was suggest that the reason behind reboots, the main reason, is that something that has a built-in audience is considered to be less risky than creating something brand new. Movies and TV shows are expensive to create. Even at their cheapest. Executives face pressure to produce as much profit as possible because that is the economic system that we live in. As such, decisions have to be made first in for most for making money, by creativity is often a secondary concern. Or if it has to do with human behavior. Lots of humans are more likely to gravitate toward something that’s familiar to them rather than something that’s brand new. So with these factors in mind, creating reboots is done to create something that’s more likely to be profitable.
I think ravens home(that’s so raven spin-off) is awesome.
It’s all up to them if they can pull it off or not and w/the right team!
I’d like Dylan a Cole to work together again. Maybe if they could guest star on another Disney show as the stars of Zack and Cody. Like Kenan Thompson on Victorious

For me not all reboots or revivals are bad. Obviously it won't live up the original, it just has its own thing or its own continuation. Some series either didn't get a proper ending or ended a little too soon. I think it varies with the writing, direction, and fitting.

First of all, it'll be cringe seeing Cole and Dylan in a Suite Life reboot idk why. Second of all because Disney lowered their target audience to children, they wanted a show that's for children nowadays and not for the fans who grew up with the show and know the show better. I mean look at Lizzie McGuire reboot, the reboot failed because Disney wanted to make the show more childish and not about the true grow up Lizzie
atleast nickelodeon has the right idea. the icarly reboot that's coming to paramount plus is supposed to be a more grown up version.
that's why girl meets world failed, they had an opportunity to focus on more mature storylines, to keep the attention adults who watched the tv series when they were younger.

I am so glad he would not want to do a reboot. I’ve had enough of reboots and remakes i find that a lot of them (not all because there are some goods ones) aren’t that good or they want to modernise it so it’s less ‘offensive’ but they make it so much worse and it kind of defeats the point of the og show/movie/etc.
The way I see it is that maybe Disney might consider doing a reimagining with a completely different cast but with a similar premise. With some shows being rebooted, the most notable show that is not technically a reboot, but a reimagining with a completely different cast, and with a similar premise is Bel Air. I could see Bob Chapek watching Bel Air, and just waiting to see how it does, and maybe get a hold of Cole and Dylan to see if they would be okay with the Suite Life being reimagined with a completely different cast. This seems like the only thing I could see Disney doing if they really want the Suite Life to come back

Well, Dylan and Cole also didn’t get along with the higher ups at Disney before the final season of suite life and a little after the final season in 2011.

Totally agreed. Every show doesn’t need a reboot. And when you reboot shows that a certain generation grew up on it it has no purpose. The original audience are adults so why would children of today want to watch a reboot of a show that they had never seen?

In case you haven't noticed, some reboots have been successful and TV has been around since the 1940s, so what original idea can one possibly come up with now? There's been like two thousand freaking shows, most of them ripoffs of inspired by an existing one. So go figure.

I know some will disagree with me, but i think i agree with him. The show had a great run and it ended so well too with no plot holes from what i can see. But i would still like to see Dylan and Cole come together for another project of sorts.

I agree the reboots just aren't as good and especially now there's too many of them. I respect him and his brother for moving on to bigger and better things. There needs to be a greater emphasis on new original tv shows and movies, not the past. It happened and it was great so don't touch it and ruin it.
