Tomahawk B Loop || "Interior Loop" The Perfect 20 Mile Ride?

  • The last snowless ride of the '22 season, and it was a great one! Parking at the main Tomahawk trailhead just past Weber Lake State Forest Campground.
    This ride covers nearly all of the trail East of Maxwell Rd. The B loop is essentially 2 large loops separated by this North/Southbound road.
    At 6:05, I have an unfortunate run in with a downed tree on the side of the trail. I was speared on the top of my left foot and was almost certain it would be a fracture, but I lucked out!
    The B Loop is undoubtably the most technical of the 3 and this ride reminds me of that each time.
    What's your favorite ride on the B?

    Great riding. I’ve never even been that fast on the Tomahawk. I would smack a tree in the first 30 seconds.

    Do you mind me asking what settings you use on your GoPro and how you have it mounted?

      @connorbuntin4894  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Of course! I use a chinmounts.com chin mount and hang the camera upside down from it. I use a foam wind sleeve for noise (big help!) The easiest way to share the settings I’m currently on is to share this video!

    How do you have your suspension/tires set up? I just did this trail for the first time yesterday and I felt like if I try to go anywhere near as fast as you I would end up flying off my bike into the trees. I think my settings are a little bit too stiff right now.

    • @connorbuntin4894
      @connorbuntin4894  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! I am on stock WP Xplor suspension sprung for my weight. Just followed the manual recommendations for a neutral compression and rebound clicker setting. As for my tires, I run DOT knobbies (my bike has a plate on it for some road use to link trails together) Dunlop D606 rear, Pirelli MT21 front. Hope this helps! Stoked to hear your were out on the B loop

      @@connorbuntin4894Thanks! I've never messed with my suspension much as all the bikes I've owned have already been set up fine for my riding, but I'm working on getting better/faster so I'm trying to tune it more.

      @@Excomunicater I have also had the privilege of riding bikes setup fairly well. I am certainly more inclined to adjust my technique over my bike tune, but I think that leaves a lot on the table for comfort and aid in progressing. So I’m trying to tinker a little more!

      Let’s see, for each machine we pay for an orv license tag, orv trail tag, and a rec pass to park the tow vehicle at the trail head all to the MI DNR for trail maintenance. But yeah, let’s expect every rider, on every ride, at every obstacle to break out their chainsaw to clear the trail for a few hours. As mommy said, if you’ve got time to criticize you’ve got time to help. So grab your tools and head up here so we can keep riding.

      @@joeg3437 wait a minute, you just said its the DNR responsibility which it's not its private clubs that do the maintenance on most single track trails. So which is it since you just contradicted yourself? Also Iam a part of a club and volunteer plus pay for all the trail stickers.
