No matter how many times they've heard this, it HAS to be intimidating to the opposition. How could it not?
this is more beautiful but less intimidating, it was more intimidating when they cut out the song before it ends for the pure crowd noise and they would sing it over and over
It is not intimidating at all. It is one of the most, I think the most inspiring and energy giving way to start the match. For both teams.
I think a lot of away teams are in awe of it. Especially European teams who come to experience it.
It is, players and managers alike have admitted it
We also sing it to those who deserve it.
I was blessed with seeing and hearing The Kop in full swing in the early 60's. YNWA was not out then, but 25,00 swinging and lurching on The Kop singing 'She loves you was something else'

I thought the Champs League,semi against Chelsea,was the best I ve seen at Anfield,but halftime in Istanbul,can never be beaten because we were 3..0 down and had to sing for the Reds to give them belief in thermselves,because we always believed in them.
Got to say for me the ghost goal chelsea game was epic, no Liverpool fan left that night with their voice intact

Growing up in New Jersey, I would watch the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon, and each year (except one) Jerry would end the broadcast with "You'll Never Walk Alone" ...
Years later, after learning to play trumpet and joining marching band, I adopted the Madison Scouts drum & bugle corps as "MY corps" & finding out their corps song was "You'll Never Walk Alone" CLINCHED it ...
Then, while visiting EPCOT one time at Walt Disney World, I entered the shop in the England pavilion which sold English soccer jerseys ... I saw Liverpool's jersey on display, and looked at it closely (being a lifelong Beatles fanatic, it just seemed -- right) ... THERE it was, on the LFC crest: "You'll Never Walk Alone" -- NOW I had my team !!!!!
I attended the friendly at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia PA between Liverpool and Arsenal on July 31, 2024 with my son-in-law (who -- for SOME reason -- switched years ago from Liverpool to Arsenal) ... though it wasn't Anfield, being able to sing "You'll Never Walk Alone" before the match with the Liverpool supporters in the south end was a thrill that I will NEVER forget ...
Someday, I hope to visit Anfield, even if only to just walk around and stand outside ... becoming an international Reds supporter from New Jersey just seems to have ALWAYS been my destiny ...
It’s magic at Anfield. I’m getting on a bit, I’m from Liverpool and used to go to a lot of matches when younger but I choke up when singing at Anfield. Hearing it on TV is not the same.
2007 acapella against Chelsea is the best ever. Loud and pure. Just magnificent.
Best YNWA was Chelsea Semi in Champions league and atmosphere on a whole brilliant then Auxerre game around 22,000 there brilliant atmosphere 👍🏻😁

Never comes across on camera as loud, or with the emotion, as it is in the stadium
I was at 2005 CL semi v Chelsea (Luis Garcia, 4th min, Def over the line… and then hung on for 90 mins) which for me was the loudest and emotion charged ever. The concrete floor was vibrating, the Kop never let up for a second, entire stadium didn’t, grown men crying with emotion…. It meant everything.
No matter how diehard Real Madrid fans might be at home, I don't think they have anything like this at the Santiago Bernabeu...And, if they do, please someone let me know 🙂
I'm a Liverpool fan but one of the best was at Celtic park Celtic and Liverpool oh my god I've never heard anything like to this day 👏🍀❤️and the Celtic fans was sound as👏🍀

It is not intimidating to the opposition they can make their own words up but I don't see why
Yeh this wasn't even close to Chelsea '05 or even the Bayern Munich or Man City CL games. I'd even go as far as to say the Leverkusen game was louder this season.
This video has a lot of people quietly mumbling the song while they film it for their social media pages. Ruins the atmosphere entirely.
