    You’re correct when you say “no one is showing off machines like this, maybe they don’t have a TH-cam channel or they don’t have time…” I work with an Anderson Exxact 51MH(Multi-Head) every day at my day job. It blew my mind the first time I saw it in action. Now, seeing yours, that is incredible. Your new multi-head unit blows ours out of the water. Our combined Rapid speed is 944in/min. So on a single Axis we get 450in/minute. I thought that was fast till I saw how incredibly fast everything moves on your machine. Ours also has a moving table and that is a sight to be seen in person.
    All that being said, thank you. Do what you do best, and be yourself. Show this machine off to the world and monopolize on the fact your showing off cutting edge technology. Your enthusiasm and love for CNC machining helped me so much when I first started working with CNC Routers, and I know it will help so many other people. Keep up the great work, and congratulations on the new machine. This is a HUGE new chapter in your life, as well as your business.
    Thank you for your knowledge.

    That clip at 0:07 scared the hell of of me. I can just imagine that table coming forward and him having no way or time to get out of the way. My Anderson rapids at 2400ipm so I'm use to seeing the the amount of space you have covered in about 1 second. Its nice to see your enthusiasm. I remember when I used to get that excited over a new machine. Enjoy!

    That CNC Router is Awesome. I have run a machine like a few times and they are super versatile. The split table really fun to use. My work we cut acrylic and polypropylene mostly as well as cutting Trespa material. Our machine didn't have the dual head as we usually were cutting one off parts from full 5x10 sheets of material

    Not too shabby. Big thanks for sharing, have been making my first CNC, over on my channel. It's reasonably big (for a first build) - or so I thought ;)
    After crashing it plenty, and popping cutting tools here there and everywhere with lots of beginner user errors - watching those two heads moving towards each other - well, lets just say it sets the pulse going a bit quicker even to watch on a video.

    Eh… it’s a nice enough machine. I certainly wouldn’t kick it out of the shop. 😉However…
    ATC functionality like that is standard on production-level machines; and at least for VMCs I’ve only ever seen it done really differently on an oddball Chiron ultra-high-speed 5-axis machine where they had the tools mounted surrounding the spindle (it would just slap up to the Z home position, and switch tools with two “petals” of the tool magazine - the whole process took about a second). Router ATCs that I’ve seen can also mount the tool magazine off to the side of the table; and just do a rapid move with the head to go grab another tool. Machines that are more entry-level or prototype focused is where you tend to find a lack of a tool changer.
    Dual head & table is a nice flexibility feature to have, especially if your shop isn’t dedicated to one single product line. I have seen it advertised on a few other machines.
    The thing that gives me a bit of pause, however, is the use of steel weldments for the machine frame. Unless specific treatments are applied; they can warp (both immediately during manufacturing and over time afterwards); and tend to “ring” from vibrations caused by the cutting process. I’ll have to presume that a major manufacturer like Onsrud will have stress-relieved the frame prior to grinding the rail mounting points. I did note a bit of a ringing tone when you tapped on the frame with your knuckles… you might want to grab a wooden or soft metal hammer and gently tap on it. If it rings like a bell; you might want to apply some dampening material like epoxy-granite to the frame.
    This is why cast iron is usually used for machine tool frames; instead of steel: it doesn’t ring.

      I agree with this all being relatively standard. Worked around 3 and 5 axis DMS machines. Once you enter a certain level in the cnc world they share many of those QOL improvments. What blows my mind are some of the 5 axis metal cnc machines.

    wow...I built my first cnc in 2009...I used the jgro design with the materials I had and this thing was a workhorse with a 16" x 32" envelope that allowed me to convert 500 golden tee arcade games from stand-up to pedestal style machines. Word of mouth had vendors from up to 800 miles brining their stand-up games to me to convert. No where near your $...I would convert for $500 per machine.

    • @cutting-it-close
      @cutting-it-close  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wanted made in the USA and I really liked their dual head model, usually when you go with the other companies, they try to sell you their internal systems that all of their other machines they make run off of. Then they get you looped into their brand. I like Onsrud because all they do is CNC they are not trying to pitch you on something else.

    Final got your self a real machine rather then the toys you had before. So funny to see you being amazed by all the basic functions that your machine has. Basically the majority of cnc world is professional shops that run machine like this, maybe not dual head, but ATC, heavy frames, big HSK spindles. There is this weird TH-cam world full guys running toys, calling them self pros, giving out BS advice. You should have gone out into the working world for a few years and work with one of these machines before being a expert, but I guess your getting there now. I went to 6 years of school, worked for 10 years running machines and lots of there engineering related stuff before I started my own CNC business. Also like most guys that own machine like yours I could rip that machine apart and put it back together again. When feeding your family depends on that machine you better learn how to work on every part of it your self because when it goes down there no time to wait for a tech. Also you have 40 hp vacuum pump and ATC pretty sure you can cut all the way though those and not have to trim off the bottom, actually if you use a 1/2 Compression I bet you can get a board with out a tool change on the outline.
