Pinza is magnificent, vocally and dramatically. He brings the devil to vivid life. The tenor is very good as well, demonstrating that tenors with good downranges have been known to occur.
And I saw this film...60 years ago when it was new (around 1953) in Lima, Peru. I thought I'd never see again. Thanks for posting, I'd love it complete!
TONIGHT WE SING was a 20th Century Fox film & Wayne & Bancroft (the latter about to take a a lengthy turn on the great white way) were under then under a FOX contract. AND Pinza, charismatic as Chaliapin was, the latter could not compete vocally & in this film (1953) Pinza had already passed into his sixties & still had plenty of voice (at lease in this context.
Perfect Ezio Pinza
Thanks. Like Chaliapin, Pinza was comfortable -- and great-- singing both bass and baritone roles.

Jan Peerce dubbed the tenor part.

I have this MGM film, along with the others he starred in. Any chance to see and hear Pinza, is great. Thanks for this post
This movie was produced by 20th Century Fox, not MGM.
