Yep. He trained real US Marines during the Vietnam war. He's actually a legitimate Gunnery Sargent, and nearly all of his lines and cadences were improvised; used in the same training he gave those Marines all those years ago.

Thank you for clarification on the cadences. I knew he was a real "Gunny" and that is why I always ❤️ loved this guy like he was my dad. I wondered if my father actually sang these as he was in the Vietnam War and a marine. He passed in 1983 so I have no one to ask. Again thanks.

It is a standard cadence, you could add in what you wanted. It is the way the Drill Instructor assisted you in "brainwashing" your thinking about the service. I am sure a lot of people have never thought what makes a soldier or sailor give their lives freely for their fellow American. It starts with the pain of PT, the cadence of the instructor, and the intention to belong. UuuuuuRah!!!!!!

Let’s not forget that in the war of 1812 the Royal Navy sailed up the Potomac river and set fire to the White House and the Americans had to whitewash the fire damage, which is why it’s called the White House forcing you folks to engage in a peace treaty meaning you folks lost 🙃

gregs dodge dodge i wouldn't want to be shot with a 22lr eithermutch less some pellet rifles either. They are carrying m14s is all i meant by that, ar's are good depending but the m 14/ mini 14/ mini 30 are very reliable piston driven ar's are nice though

Those are formation runs, they're slow because you're practicing cover (keeping the man in front of you as 'cover', directly in front of you) and alignment (keeping the man to your right 'aligned'), and you're practicing running to the rhythm. You run in these formations pretty slowly, but you run for miles and miles and miles.
