- A lot of you Muse fans have been asking for this basically since Dave's first Muse reaction. You also know I don't really want to sit Dave down in front of something that is really long.
But 'tis the season you know, and I thought this would make a great Christmas gift for those of you who have been asking (sometimes MANY times ... I'm looking at you @cyrus2728!) for this particular reaction.
Does Dave like this? Is he a rock opera kinds of guy?
No spoilers, you've all waited this long, so I'll let you find out for yourself.

Matt Bellamy is an absolute genius
Exogenesis for me is one of the best rock orchestral story telling collections out there, absolutely love it
Extraordinary really. This is a ‘rock band’ essentially. Truly masterful. Moving. Music is what feelings sound like.

So happy that Dave finally got to experience this. If Matt Bellamy continues making music after Muse is finished, I imagine he'd make more orchestral rock like this. He's just so good at it.
"They should make a movie about this", well this song is basically the plot of Interstellar. Spreading our genome throughout the galaxy, which is a very common sci fi premise.
This album was recorded Matts studio in Como, Italy. So they used a Italian composer for the strings and brass, can't remember his name.
The song is described to be in Muse own version "a rock symphony in the style of Pink Floyd, Rachmanniov, Strauss and Chopin" and sure enough you can hear all influences in this piece.
They have never played this song live in its entirety. But part 1 used to be a mainstay in the album tour of this album
YES! I have been saying this for a while now. It is basically inspired by Exogenesis.

I’ve often sat in a darkened room and listened to the Exogenesis trilogy , it definitely took me on a journey. The Resistance is a brilliant album .😀

Dave's knowledge overwhelmed me.
Very nice. The part 1 comparison to a silent movie score was a clever (and accurate) observation. The three parts do have Quadrophenia hints, but for me it also connected with some of Emerson Lake & Palmer's Works Volume #1 stuff when I first listened to the album. Thanks for another great reaction!

The tune has been done, but there is a video for the third part that's worth seeing. It's nothing to do with the exogenesis story and looks like the animators own take on the 3rd part on it's own, but it's absolutely beautiful. The same person also did the video for Aftermath from the Drones album. Both videos are very moving.

So pissed that I was not able to catch the stream, holidays and all, plus I’m in the middle of packing, we are moving on 12/26 & 12/27. This was just terrific Dave and Shecky. For sure I hear Rhapsody in Blue and some influences of ELP. I didn’t really get The Who comparison but hey, what do I know? I’ll trust Dave on that one. Song "The Void" from ST album has a similar vibe to exogenesis, it's my favorite song from that album and actually helped me with mental issues during some dark times

What an overture. Btw, I wonder whats an underture is? The piano part reminded me of Ghershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. Really classy bit of music. Last 6 minutes of the tune were my favorite.
