  • A very fine mid-range guitar at exactly the price you would expect (Normal Guy Review)
This Taylor 117e Grand Pacific Review is my honest and unplanned reaction to Taylor Guitars 117e model in the Grand Pacific shape, with onboard active preamp, which I did not test.
I was impressed, and I kind of loved it, but I didn't leave with it and honestly I'm not sad that I didn't. This is the closest an off-the-wall Taylor has ever come to capturing my heart, a valiant effort.

I really loved it while I played it, and I really like it hearing it back on the recording, but what I'm feeling now is less than love.

So, is it something wrong with it?

@@damiannoremberg7760 absolutely not, Nothing wrong with it. It's just not exactly what I would be looking for, though it's great. It is exactly what you pay for. It is a 900 guitar. It will sound, feel, play like a $900 guitar... There are $350 guitars that play like $900 guitars, and there are $3,500 guitars that play like $900 guitars, But this is a $900 guitar that plays like a $900 guitar. fair and square.

Just got this guitar for my 21st birthday but haven’t been able to play it as I’ve been away! This review has made me excited to get back and play it, thanks!!

The holes are for the under saddle pickup

Nice review. I wish you would have plugged it in so we could hear that sound and your opinion of it.

Thanks!... I think Guitar Center keeps an acoustic amp in there, I'll try to plug it in next time. Great idea!

Maple neck, ebony fretboard and bridge

Yes, maple neck, I remember that now, thought that was strange on an acoustic (not bad)

@@BillySoundFarm definitely different but I kind of like it. Feels like an electric neck

Like that d18 you tried out much, much better. Taylor is always too brittle for my tastes.

Absolutely, the d18 was twice the guitar for three times the price

Sorry dude that’s a poor video. You should’ve talked a whole lot less and played a little better and a little more especially knocked out some good cords, some G9 C9 and let us hear what the fuck it really sounds like. By the way, I was in Guitar city yesterday and I played that guitar and I thought it was definitely not worth the price tag. It definitely does not sound like a Martin or a Gibson.
