I felt the same way. I made $130, 000 a year and had everything but felt empty and lonely. So i decided to retire at 53 and went back to the Philippines after working and living in California for 20 years. I've never been happier
Now you understand why Filipinos, though poor, by western standards, lacking the conveniences normally found in modern US homes, are able to exude genuine smiles, unmindful of the hardships and able to derive pleasure over life's challenges. Do we need fancy clothes, cars, electrical appliances, fastfoods, credit cards, etc.? Do we need to rush to work, for fear of losing our jobs or being reprimanded by our bosses? Do we have to endure heavy traffic on our way home to catch dinner & much needed rest? Do we have to pay to enjoy man- made amusement parks or virtual reality pictures of sites we could not reach? Do we have to worry about the state of national economy? NO. Come to think of it, man started living, naked, in a garden of lush greens & forests. Where games roamed freely and fruits & green grew abundantly. Where the sun rose and sets in a spectacular colors for every eye to see. Where music is heard from the chirps of birds, the howl of the wind, the powerful show of sights & sounds during a lightning storm. Where clean water flows or spring from streams. Much of these had been lost or maybe are available for a fee or fare. Commercialism had taken over, what God had intended for Man to enjoy. But Philippines still has plenty of these joys, spread over 7,400 islands. You can go fish every where, without having to secure a fishing permit. You can grow your food even in small pots of soil. You can spend lazy afternoons with folks playing the guitar & cracking jokes. And on weekends, have a drink of local wines, & brewed ground coffee, or enjoy barbecue on occasions. This is the kind of life, in the rural places where traditions still prevail, where families laugh & pray & dine together.
Congratulations! And welcome to the Philippines 🇵🇭 I made the conscious decision at the age of 55 to retire from the UK to the Philippines. I was a CEO for a global premium tyre manufacturer. I just felt the timing was right. My wife and I built our new home on the 1000 sq m lot we have in Isabela province. At the same time we bought a 3 hectare farm to grow rice. Best decision I ever made moving to the Philippines. We live in a very peaceful area in the province. Even now after being here since the summer of 2023, i still have pinch me moments. Cheers, Simon

The experience was challenging, but those hardships taught me to discover myself and learn from my mistakes. Living in America has given me the opportunity to grow and become the person I am today. Back in the Philippines, I had all the support I needed from family and friends, but being in the US helped me mature and develop in ways I never expected. I’m still on the journey of finding peace and connecting with my inner self, but I’m confident I’m on the right path. Always stay true to yourself and remain honest. Btw, I’m also a BJJ practitioner. You’re right. I’m living here in England since 2010. I also work in hospital not as a nurse. You can get what you want easy but I really feel empty. Working hard for bill payments. I got 13 year old boy and my wife work in carehomes. Contentment & happiness is not enough in here. No enjoyment really in here... Missed my life back home in the Philippines. God bless ❤🙏👍

I left my nursing job too in the UK, am not yet fully retired! I'm only turning 40! But the husband has retired now and so we moved here in the Philippines and brought the dog with us nearly 2 years ago. We've still got the UK house of which we airbnb it. Life here in the Philippines is way simpler, in such a good way

This video should make us all come to awareness about our goal and our purpose in life. We should make sure that we our actions align with them.

Thank you for sharing! I’m the opposite-I was born and raised in the Philippines and moved to the US when I was about 18. The experience was challenging, but those hardships taught me to discover myself and learn from my mistakes. Living in America has given me the opportunity to grow and become the person I am today. Back in the Philippines, I had all the support I needed from family and friends, but being in the US helped me mature and develop in ways I never expected. I’m still on the journey of finding peace and connecting with my inner self, but I’m confident I’m on the right path. Always stay true to yourself and remain honest. Btw, I’m also a BJJ practitioner. I left my nursing job too in the UK, am not yet fully retired! I'm only turning 40! But the husband has retired now and so we moved here in the Philippines and brought the dog with us nearly 2 years ago. We've still got the UK house of which we airbnb it. It must feel good not having to work 12 hrs shifts and stressing out just to get thru another day. I did the same thing 2 yrs ago and not one regret.

Life is so simple in the Philippines, reason I will retire and going home in my home town in Bataan after living here for over 40 yrs. June is my target date and my brothers waiting for me. I am happy for you and family. God bless you all..
