  • If you are looking to extend your season, a nice south facing wall can really help. I get 6-8 weeks of extra season in this area
    Excuse the names. I don’t speak French or Catalan and don’t really know how to pronounce all of them. :-)

    Does the barbwire keep the chipmunks out?

      Fortunately, squirrels and chipmunks are not a problem. I do have some pesky rabbits though.

    A nice bunch of fig trees! How many hours it takes to water them all in case of heat spell?

      I am in the middle of rearranging the trees but once I finish that, I will set up a simple drip line for all the larger trees.

      I had some good ones but a lot that were over caprified as well. It is a huge fig here and has an extremely dense pulp with a very unique taste. It was hard to get them fully ripe but when I was able to, they were quite tasty. Not my favorite by any means though.

    • @TheYehat
      @TheYehat 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@figsandchocolate5553 Yep, mostly the same here. Visually stunning, but as the taste goes - strange, not unpleasant at all, but still. Very "fresh" taste, almost like no fig, but plum.

      @figsandchocolate5553  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheYehat It definitely has a unique taste and texture. It was not good enough for me to keep so I will discard it this winter.

      That is just perlite in the pots. When I water heavily, it sometimes floats to the top

      I have only been growing figs for about 2 1/2 years so many of my trees are young. This will be my first year with WAY more figs than my family and close friends can eat. I will make jams and probably offer some up locally to high end customers or something. Not quite sure yet! lol
      I will be drying some and covering them in chocolate as well.
