Cool build! Very interesting you’ve recycled the code 70 rail. That’s just another advantage of hand building one’s own track. Looking forward to seeing other episodes!!
Thank you! Luckily it worked out. We gently pulled off the old ties from the old flex track and it worked out well after a coat of paint and installing it on the new ties.
Awesome layout, thanks for sharing! Subscribed and following along, I model Cajon in N scale and I’m looking forward to more progress on your layout. - Steve
Great vision for a full basement sized empire. Looking forward to update videos. I noticed your walls aren't prepped with a basic sky blue for the background.
I didn't see a head-shunt on the yard - the main feeder track seems to run directly into the mainline without a lot of spare space. Have I missed something?
Hey man great work - I have a question. So I'd like to do a big layout at some point and I'm taking notes, pics, info, etc to prepare properly for the next step from the layout I have now. My question is - I don't want to do a double decker layout, I really like how you have some elevations happening on your layout. How did you figure that out? I obviously will need to wait to see what type of space I have, but you planned your layout but what determined those certain sections of elevation for you? Thanks in advance.
Hi. Thank you. We tried to keep it close to a 1‰ no more than a 1.5‰ grade so basically a 1 inch rise for every 100 inches. It was a little of a guessing game and took some planning. We used a 100" string as a basic guide around curves and then went back to fine tune with a level to maintain the grade and make sure the roadbed was level or slightly banked in the curves.
This Is Pride And Passion hands Down.👍

Nice video mate. Impressive work love the size of your layout. New subscriber.
Thank you!
Very good video, thanks for sharing the whole start of the construction... what radius do you use?
Thanks. Minimum is 26 but a lot of the layout is 28 and larger
@@cajonpassandsantaferailway5386 thanks for answering, you have a good radius
Very nice, would like to know the layout size, and track plans.
Approx 20x33. Working on putting a track plan together soon.
@@cajonpassandsantaferailway5386 looking forward to seeing it

Why carpet?? It's going to be full of dust all the time.
If this is a basement, it will flood at some point. Huge effort to remove all that carpet.
I follow you on insta, great work!! keep up the updates!!
Thank you!
grrr, Stills, where is the video, :)
