Tom I understand the mechanics of what you are doing, what I don't understand is how to use contacts 2,3,4 to power the frog and change the power going to the frog to that is going to contact 1 or 8 of the tortoise...do u have a video for this?thanks
Contacts 1 and 8 are power to the tortoise to switch the tortoise only. Nothing to do with the other contacts Pin 2 & 3 is power from each rail, 4 goes to the frog so when the turnout is switched, the frog receives the power from the corresponding rail

Is the 9V that Tortoise switch machine require enough for the track power for slots 2 and 3? My NCE DCC system uses 12 Volt but my Switch machines require 9 volt.
The Tortoise requires anywhere from 9V up to 12V. If you want to power your tortoise, you would have to do it directly from the power supply. The Tortoise uses DC while your NCE & Track is DCC. Not the same thing The auxiliary contacts on the Tortoise (Pins 2 thru7) are independent from the two pins that drive the Tortoise (1-8). They are basically like the contacts on a relay. Don't know what your referring to by slots 2-3!

Your not understanding the concept of your NCE Power cab which is DCC. That supplies your signal to the track which is not DC. DCC is a varying square wave signal supplying information to your locomotive that is connected to your track through the NCE System. Your frog and the adjacent tracks need the same signal as your main track when you operate your turnout. DC has nothing to do with your track power unless your running a DC system which you are not with your NCE Power Cab. You want to jumper the wires you have connected to your track to the auxiliary contacts on the switch machine. NOT DC. The DC voltage you feed the Tortoise does not feed the track power!
Hi Tom, Catching up on videos as I get ready to power up my yard. I am using Tortoise switch machines and plan to power with a Mk2 board allowing my NCE DCC to power the Tortoise. Will this still work for my older Shinohara switches???? Thanks, Mark

Tom You showed a WYE turnout was that one that had a metal frog. I sent an email earlier today asking how to connect a Atlas WYE 560 Code 83 turnout to a tortoise it has two connectors on it one on each side of the frog would I connect that to one side of the tortoise and the other one to the other side of the tortoise ?

Thanks for the great video. If it's a shorter run from the power bus to the terminal strip, mightn't be easier to power #2 and 3 with the power bus?

Great video, Tom! I like the CAT-5 cable idea. I have used those Caboose 220S ground throws in the past. They are a bit fiddly, but they do work well.
