My wife’s dad always told me when I was tournament fishing, how can you be tired all you’ve done was go fishing. He changed his mind when I told him to a small fruit jar tournament at Pickwick. He was a bank beater and took him out on a flat out of dry creek. We were about 200 yards away from the bank and I tied him on a Mann’s 25 foot crank bait. After about 10 minutes he lauded it down and said this thing is like pulling a brick through the water! I told him pick it back up you have about 8 more hours, all you’re doing is fishing! He never said that again! 😂😂😂👍
When I have my wife and son on the boat when the fish aren’t biting is draining. Trying to find a few bites and stop them from complaining is draining. Not to mention my ego that I feel creeping up when I’m struggling to get on a few of them. All in all a slow day on the water is better than a day at work. Not counting the making money part lol
Back n Bi's wit Blaukat ! New channel............Florida flip..flip..flip...heavy cover. In Florida ( mud holes) if you burn a bait after a spring cold front air 35° lake 55°+ you find out what reels need grease and oil.You do point out Florida's a different animal.
Very good info Randy! I hope you don't mind but I would like to add to your video a couple of things on this subject. Before a front I find that bass will take a horizontal presentation more readily (Swim bait, crank bait, spinner type baits). Like you explained their bite window is larger and they are more likely to follow and take the bait. After a front they are more likely to take a vertical presentation (spoons, Jigs) as you said the bite window becomes smaller. In addition after a front bass (deep or shallow) become more object oriented. So after a front try fishing deeper fish with a jig in and around brush in a hopping retrieve or crawl the jig over a limb and let it fall on a controlled slack line. Same thing for shallow fish. Before the front you may have caught them on a crank or spinner bait (a horizontal presentation) but after the front you'll find not only is their bite window significantly smaller and unwilling to chase a bait. Bass become very object oriented. They want it dropped right in their face. This is why pitching and flipping is so good around cover when fishing shallow after a front. The key here as you said you might have to use a finesse approach with a lighter jig, say a 3/8 instead of a 1/2 oz. They just can't stand that slower fall after a cold front passes. Thanks Randy, another great video!
Very timely video. It seems like clockwork that every Thursday around here for a month a cold front rolls through with storm. and I only get to fish on Saturdays or Sundays. So, I am not having very much luck fighting the dirty water and the rapid temperature change. I can't wait for a week without a front. But we are expecting one this Thursday again, of course.
Great advice. Was out on Pomme De Terre Friday to do a little scouting for a tournament next month. Was fishing a secondary cove off a main cove on the lake, Water temp was 47 to 48 about half way back over 18 foot of water. Standing timber, south bank chunk rock north pee gravel back end long flat of sand, clay and grass. Got a 6.24 LB 21.00 in long largemouth on a shaky head and a 7 inch finesse worm. There getting ready to move up but thinking this cold front is going to keep them a little deep for a few weeks. Good luck in the tournament.
Can you do a video on how this affects bass in FL? Or maybe just an all inclusive weather in FL .All the seasons. How it differs from the rest of the country. There just isnt much info out there on the “x-factor” in bass fishing.
Im gonna take your advice randy. I got a tourney on Cumberland saturday. Its gonna be 65 wed-thursday, 50s and rain on friday, windy and 30s on saturday tourney day. Ive fished this tourney 3 times already and 2 of those were bad cold fronts rolled in and i did horribly. The one that wasnt a cold front, the lake was flooded 23 ft and muddy. Its gonna be ugly cold front again and im looking at drop shotting and who knows what. So im going to try it differently this year, im going to crank natural looking frittsides and dt’s into every single rock along points and drop offs. Im going to crank my arm off at first, and play with colors. Then switch to jigs and neds and dropshots. Then Im going to go back to cranks around mid day and at some time hopefully catch them feeding.
Thanks! We have our A.B.T. trounment this Saturday also. Cold 30s.in the morning and 55deg. at afternoon. Going to be hard. No live scope here. 😁👍 Good Luck to You !
Caught a 7 yesterday on one of my local reservoirs. Check it out on my channel Mr Randy! 😂 Cold front made water drop a few degrees but it's still in low 60s at day light. Caught all my fish in the dirt

Fish ALWAYS EAT!
You will do GREAT Randy!
I was literally sitting here wondering how this cold front is going to effect my bass fishing...glad you posted this

Good content, good tips, thank you and good luck on the practice today
Thanks for the tips Randy. I’m going fishing on Saturday which is post frontal conditions so these tips will be perfect!

Good luck in the tourney randy we are pulling for ya
Just when I was hoping the bite would turn on.....guess dragging the bottom will be the first technique to try.

Yea I know. It's snowing today and tomorrow and maybe Thursday. It was warming nicely and now we've got more snow on the ground.
What tournament are you fishing and date. Good luck enjoy your videos and all the information you share
Good stuff 👍🏻
When I get a bite in shallow water in some kind of wood cover it's always a good chance I will catch a big fish after a front
Fontana lake Bryson city North Carolina can you help me out with that map
Yes it's tuff right now . ✅ 27
I hope everyone reading this catches their pb this March!
I hope so. I caught my pb last March estimate 8 1/2-9lb on a square bill crankbait in pond here in NJ
I’m just hoping the ice melts off the lakes by then lol

3 days of practice ! There won't be any fish to catch in the tournament ! If you guys are pro's , why do you need 3 days of practice ?
I will pass on McDonald’s
