OMG! You sir! You gives me hope! Thank you soo much. This is by far the clearest explanation of swap. My understanding of swap is at beginner level. I have zero background knowledge in finance, so it's quite difficult for me to grasp the concept and to understand the big picture of swap. Most of the lessons out there focus specifically on what is swap without giving a big picture of swap. Like who is the counterparty. The mechanics of swap from each user perspective...and how on earth the FRAs come into picture. I learned a lot from this. Thank you!

I must say you have explained the concept really very well, very easy to understand.
I have a follow up question though - (Time Stamp - 26:27) You explained an example of an entity that has bought Bonds with floating interest rate. To hedge the risk of low returns, this entity entered into a Swap to convert its IR from Floating to Fixed interest rate. My question is - what happens if the Floating Bond that this entity has bought initially (the underlying security) is defaulted?

Hi sir can you help me with below questions
    1) What does it mean that value of fixed and floating cash flows are equal at swap initiation.
    2) when swaps are valued, we use the forward swap curve for the floating rate, am I right in saying that forward swap curve is only for valuation purposes and actual cash flow settlement happens on what the previous year curve rate was.
    Please help clarify these

In 1st example, at time 0, LIBOR is 9%. Time 0 is the time of swap agreement so how a certain already known 9% + 1%rate is paid by "y" to "x". My logic says that at end of year 1, whatever LIBOR should be used for 1st payment. Kindly explain.

Just want to clear out one thing
You’re saying at the end of first year we/cp is going to pay 9% which has already given
However my understanding is there is no provided floating rate at the effective date, its the reset date which prior to payment on which rates gets fixed libor+spread if any and then payment
    Correct me if I’m wrong......

If off market FRAs don't have a value of zero at initiantion, won't there be an arbitrage possible?
Like in forwards if the value at initiantion is not zero arbitrage exits.Wasnt really able to comprehend whether or not there will be an arbitrage and if yes how, hence the doubt.
Awesome lecture though,I literally fear swaps less now.😌😌
