    This video was a nice refresher for me. Had a cuspid to cuspid case and was contemplating seating 3 at a time but thought might as well get er done. Seated all 6 at once and worked out just fine.

    Hi Dr.Cutbirth, Thank you for sharing these great videos.
    May I know the rationale behind not curing the composite restoration( as explained at 8:45)? Will there be any problem if it's cured first before cementing the veneers?
    Many thanks.

    • @centerforard
      @centerforard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do not cure the primer/adhesive prior to veneer cementation, and I cement the veneers all at the same time and do not cure until all are seated. Watch all the videos in DMC.com library several times on all the topics.

    Thank you Dr. Cutbirth for your amazing lecture and helpful tips. I had a question regarding the polishing direction vs cutting direction for using the 12 fluted carbide. Can you elaborate on how to determine the direction? Thank you!

    • @centerforard
      @centerforard  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One direction feels friction and drags. That is the cutting direction. The other direction feels smooth, like you are polishing something. The directions are evident when you move the burr against the tooth.

    Are these emax monolithic veneers? What different kind of material do you use for veneers? Do you ever use zirconia veneers?

    • @centerforard
      @centerforard  ปีที่แล้ว

      For the past several years I have used lithium disilicate (e-max) veneers exclusively. I do not use zirconia for veneers. I use zirconia for fixed bridge frameworks. I rarely use zirconia for crowns. I prefer gold crowns or onlays for second molars.

    What material are you using for veneer fabrication? Zirconia? Would you mind sharing what laboratory you use?

    • @centerforard
      @centerforard  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Emax (lithium dislocate). I do not share my dental laboratory technician names. It took us years to work out our methods, shades, etc. If I did give your their names, thy would be flooded with new dentists wanting to work with them. You must perfect your techniques and find your own lab tech. You can do it! I did!

    Do you not have to light cure the primary adhesive on the prepped teeth and prosthesis fitting surface prior to cementation?

    • @centerforard

      No, absolutely do not cure the primer/adhesive prior to placing the veneer with the filled resin. Follow the directions in the video.

    Would you consider applying Empress crowns to maxillary incisals in a younger patient who is insisting on high translucency?

    • @centerforard
      @centerforard  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Veneers, not crowns on anterior teeth if the tooth is healthy and not broken down. Preserve tooth structure. Remember, veneers are as strong as crowns and natural teeth if you use the correct technique.

    Can't we cure the bonding agent after applying on tooth?

    • @centerforard
      @centerforard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do not cure anything until the veneer is seated.because I do not want any cured primer/adhesive thickness affecting the seating of the veneer. There is no reason to cure the primer/adhesive prior to seating the veneer if you cure thoroughly on the facial and lingual/palatal surfaces.

    Great tips, thank you. I'm curious about using glycerin, which I notice you're not using here... would that solve the potential leakage problem if we prefer to wipe away excess resin cement prior to light curing?

    • @centerforard
      @centerforard  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely do not wipe excess cement away prior to initial light curing. This is true with veneers or crowns.

  • @davidtrevino7508

    Doc, so the margin of that veneer on the lateral that lost the class III filling is in the resin? If a patient has class III existing restorations (intact/sound), do you leave the margin of the veneers in that resin or are you removing them?

    • @centerforard
      @centerforard  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the composite filling is recently placed and sound, with no leakage, I leave the filling as is. If there is staining or leakage, I often wait until I am seating the veneer to replace it. If there is a composite filling in the tooth that is being veneered and you place provisional veneers with adhesive (unfilled resin) on the composite, the provisional may stick to the composite when you remove the provisional and you may have to reprep that part of the tooth when you seat the veneer.

    You mentioned not to wipe off the excess cement until the initial cure but then you wiped it off on the lingual to make sure you had correct placement. Did you mean don’t wipe the facial and just wipe the lingual before initial cure?

    • @centerforard
      @centerforard  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you press the veneer to place again after removing a bit of the excess from the palatal, it presses a bit of excess out the palatal so there is still excess cement.

    I have a question. I have gotten my 4 wisdom teeth out to get Invisaligns to correct a very crooked upper tooth (nr.10) thats behind the lower row. My 2 middle upper teeth (nr.8&9) are very big and i wonder if veneers might be a good thing after getting the teeth corrected. My worry is that i have had one of my front teeth chipped and every time it was fixed with a modelling filler, the filler broken off again after a few months. can this happen to Veneers too? Thank you very much.

    • @centerforard
      @centerforard  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Veneers are terrific and, if placed with the technique I am teaching, very strong - as strong as natural teeth. It is important that most people wear a nightguard while sleeping to protect the teeth from chipping and wear (bruxism). It is also important not to bite anything harder than a soft sandwich with your front teeth. This applies to natural teeth or teeth that have not been veneered. The front tooth angle is not good for biting hard things. Watch my DM video, "How to Keep Your Teeth for a Lifetime."

    greetings Dr. steven
    Thanks alot for your hard work , i may have some queries
    recently i applied veneers Imax i wasn't satisfied with my upper jaw so they sent it back to the lab , however i applied the bottom jaw ( lower teeth ) total of 10 teeth with no adjustment as the Dr said she will fix the bite once i applied the upper jaw
    now , bottom veneers are not even ( need to be shaved or i dont know the term of it ) is it really possible for veneers to be adjusted to be Even ( middle lower 4 teeth ) ? and will the Dr be able to line it with the whole 10 teeth ?

    Dr can we use dual cure cement?

    • @centerforard
      @centerforard  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. The problem with dual cure is selecting a proper shade plus the dual cure composite turns dark during the setting process, which is disconcerting as you watch the reaction and hope the shade doesn't remain that dark.

    Hi Dr. Cutbirth, is it mandatory to put adhesive on veneer before applying composite resin? Or is this step needed because silane is not applied? Thank you very much for the video and information.

    • @centerforard
      @centerforard  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you must apply primer/adhesive to the tooth side of the veneer and the prepared tooth. Be sure to blow off the primer/adhesive so nothing "wiggles." Do not cure the primer/adhesive until the veneer is seated, just like the videos. Silane is not needed.

      Yes, although I recommend all patients, even with natural teeth, do not bite anything harder than a sandwich with their front teeth. The biting angle is not good if you bite something hard with your front teeth. The veneer is as strong as a natural tooth, but I have many patients chip their natural teeth biting hard things with them.
