What I love about it; Rania or Layan are not the only people who come from an abusive or restrictive household. Mariam's parents are also super selfish and the mother literally leaves her lonely in the moment her daughter needs support the most. She doesn't even talk to her, only about the pills her therapist gave. Miriam has problems in her house too, but she doesn't go bully people. I love how it shows that bullying is not an inevitable result of abuse but a conscious choice.
I don't really think Mariam went too far. If you pay close attention, she was bullied and her mom didn't believe her. She felt worthless and her friends didn't really understood her struggles at home and school. To be honest, I can really relate. Most people can't understand unless they've experienced it themselves. If you also observed closely at the end she hesitated a bit before she thought of everything she went through before she sent the location. maybe if her mum would have believed her and be there for her she wouldn't have went that far.
Today I finished the second season and I saw the scene where they’re crying for Layan but honestly, I’m not trying to justify Layan getting killed but I can’t feel sympathy for her, she was a bully who ruined Mariam’s life for no reason, her mom lost her trust in her and everyone in the school hated her because Layan accused her with lies, they physically abused her and she could’ve died, still not trying to justify Layan’s death but like I said I don’t have sympathy for her, she hurt Mariam so bad when Mariam was only minding her own business not to mention her bullying other girls, even after that scene I’m still team Mariam
Mariam actually is sorry for what she did to Layan in the new series, when the old characters have a school reunion, and Mariam is crying with guilt when Rania sings a funeral song for Layan 😢
This song fits her so well! I feel as in the last scene with Raida and her so called “best friends”, they motivated her more to press the button. Raida showed no remorse or sorry for Mariam. I feel as saying, “What ever we’ve done to you is going to be 10x worse to lanya.” Was insanely rude for it underestimated what they had done to Mariam. Mariam had suffered verbal and physical abuse, false SA allegations, rumors spread around about her, and MUCH more. Yet no one seemed to notice that when it came down to this moment, not even her best friends stood up for her. Therefore she felt the only right thing would be to push the button and send the message. I feel as if Raida actually realized what she had done, then trying a different approach towards Mariam things could have turned out differently.
As someone who’s been bullied before, I fully support Mariam. Layan and her gang messed around with the wrong person. This is what they get for bullying a smart student. We do our research. Mariam is a nerd to them, but she’s really smart. They view her as weak and helpless, but she took them down using her own brain.
