I have a dm1stce (grandpa to this guitar) from about 2003. Paid $450 and was thrilled. From the start, it sounded as good or better than guitars 3x the price. It aged really well and has that deep martin sound. It was built like a tank and is heavy. It developed have a high moisture content, but, the tone is significantly better than when I bring the wood moisture down to spec. No warping or damage has occurred from higher moisture levels so I let it be and enjoy the noticable difference in tone quality. The current sigma 10 solid top is the same guitar as mine and I would buy it in a heartbeat, but, mine is going strong. All my solid body guitar friends just shake their heads. Mine is no doubt a good guitar but I got lucky. My guitar got that something extra that makes it play unexplainably beyond it's pedigree. Only complaint I ever had was it definitely needed a set up and the bridge and nut needed bone to replace plastic. It has seen a lot of playing time in and I'm going to get new Grovers and new frets. It's definitely worth it.
Another fabulous review and how great is it to learn about “Ole” Sigma! Boy I remember them. I even remember when the salesman walked in to my store and said “Hey you guys interested in a few new guitar brands I sell-Takamine, Ibanez?” Man I’m old! I’ll look for a Sigma for my 12 yrs old granddaughter who’s been studying for 3 yrs now. Maybe one smaller in size for her? Thanks for the review!

Is the Sapele laminated? I can’t imagine it’s solid Sapele?

No its is not the DME distributed model. This model, I believe< was made exclusively for Amazon.
