This brought tears to my eyes...This was my grandfather’s favorite song to play. I still have his original sheet music that survived a fire. I have it framed by our piano. Wish I could share a pic of it.

Ragtime music is very good, and 12th Street Rag is one of the more popular Ragtime songs.
Not just the speed, it's the instant changes in right hand rhythm that are so amazing. Astonishing skill.
Swanson never fails to impress with his virtuoso style of playing. Have watched him since he first came on to the Rag Time scene and grown over the years. The young boy standing next to Adam is in absolute awe of his playing. For a fun piece listen to Terry Waldo murdering 12st Rag. very funny and highly entertaining

@@marquamfurniture I think Tom Brier is better than this Adam guy. This guy seemed to be hitting a lot if wrong notes and losing accuracy.
SteamLocoScrapper I have never heard Tom Brier play 12th street rag. And even if he could, he probably can’t anymore, due to brain damage from a car crash leading to the impairment of his motor skills. Because of this, Tom is no longer able to play piano on the same level as he used to before.
Where is this kid today??? He must be in his 20s--Adam, if you're out there, PLEASE still be playing. What an amazing talent. You made my day! (From a very old woman who loves ragtime but could never play.)

Oh my wow! Such precision and speed. He has talented hands for the piano. It's so impressive to me to see his hands all over the keys like that moving so expressively. I've never seen that in real life before.
Shades of Winifred Atwell and also my talented aunt who used to play piano in the 1940's and 50's in the Merry Macs band with her brothers at district old-time dances. She could not only sight read but play a lot of tunes like this after hearing them once or twice. Such lovely nostalgia to hear this rag played so well.
Is there a talent more beautifully rewarding than being able to play the piano.............something I have sadly never learnt...............yet !!
Absolutely wonderful, Adam. I had a neighbor who played stride piano like this and Adam's performance brought back memories. My neighbor couldn't read a lick of music but he learned by watching piano rolls.

@@Pmorris2222 hahaha no! I completely forgot about this. But funnily enough, in two days I'm starting classes with a ragtime teacher. This should definitely be the first song we work on! My classical ass has been trying to self-learn jazz and I still suck so hard lmao.

Looks and sound just like my circa 1923 Mercer player piano. Can't make out the logo here to see if it is indeed the same manufacturer. Looks like it could be the same logo.
