  • This was a special one. My first few minutes in a genuine sports car.
    The car's a Series 2 - Lotus Elise. Mid-engine, manual gearbox, enough power to have fun and the kind of communication you dream about. Hope you enjoy this one, I certainly did.

      Easily done and there's always the Evora/Emira, which is much more usable.

      I commuted in mine every day for almost a year (during lockdown lol), including though winter. Didn't have an issue with it other than it's loud and terrifies passengers.
      If you can live with an MX-5 it's not a massive jump to an Elise. You just have to be more careful with it (short wheel base, no traction control, no airbags). The Toyota engined cars are pretty reliable and have assisted brakes.

    Glad you enjoyed your time in the Lotus. A hint to help you build confidence, think back to your videos and comments on weight transfer. A crest is a vertical bend, therefore you might want to think about keeping the car level through weight transfer. Slow to the apex and accelerate out to flatten the curvature. Keep on enjoying your driving.

  • @daveblock4061
    @daveblock4061 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Absolutely! Get in feet first. The 2zz with a Larini GT2 exhaust on the 2nd cam sounds like an F1 Cosworth. You must go above 8000 RPM where the power is. Worry not for the brakes, the car is so light they work perfectly. The car is designed such as 9/10th is easy and exhilarating. No assist on the steering, just the feel of the road. Just think where you want to go and it does. To get out first put your butt far back on the sill, then swing you legs out last. Let's you know everything else called a Sports Car isn't. Lotus: For the Drivers.

    • @peterthompson9854
      @peterthompson9854 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@HighOnThunder I take it you're USA. I had an Elise SC, which is what US called the federal (111R) but with a supercharger taking it from 189 hp to 220hp and filling in the low end power. Swapped that for an Exige 350., which I still enjoy. Can't think of anything to replace it. It's a different proposition in US, as there is less choice, the available cars are obviously older and less dealer support. You have the Evora of course, or the Emira, but they are quite different cars.

      @@peterthompson9854 I'm in The Netherlands actually. The only somewhat affordable Elises are RHD UK imports. I want a LHD 111R but I'm not paying that much for a toy. There aren't any roads to properly enjoy it anyway, and I'm not driving 4 hours to Germany first to get to some good turns.

      It's B4391 in Wales, between Arenig and Ffestiniog - worth checking out, I think it might be one of the best driving roads out there. B4407 is also very good.
