When I was a kid(early twenties) I went 165mph riding a Yamaha R1 on a road like the one you're riding on. You asked for suggestions so I'm going to suggest you find a different road to test on. There are way too many driveways on that one. Going that fast (80mph) on a Grom the brakes aren't going to be able to slow you down quick enough if someone pulls out onto the road. That thing is awesome, but please stay safe
@@noidontthinksolol that may be so but no matter how good the brakes are, if he came over a rise at 80mph and a car was pulling out, it wouldn't stop fast enough.
@@middlesiderrider I don’t know if anyone would be able to stop fast enough honestly. Or if you could you’d end up locking the brakes up if your not on a newer bike with abs

Your jetting might be lean just because it was so cold when you were testing it, it could be OK when the temperature is 30 degrees warmer. It sounds great, looks good..
you always wanna make sure that the jetting is on the rich side when pushing a 2 stroke especially when its super cold, otherwise you can sieze or score it very fast. so maybe check the plug before riding more ? would be sad to see it break already such a cool build.

You remind me of a young version of myself…😆. I once “ Shoe-horned “ a 1966 Yamaha “ Twin-jet 100cc “ ( think small RD motor). Into my ‘72 Yamaha Mini -Enduro ( originally 60cc single) and with the Legendary Don Vesco’s help ( I lived only a few blocks from his shop here in San Diego) had an 11,000 rpm mini terror that went 74 mph and had an exhaust note like a Banshee. Took it out to Ocottilo wells desert recreation area in 1976 when done & after a few passes up it’s legendary “ Blow sand hill” had a crowd of about 50 people milling about it to get a look-see . I was only 16 yrs old at that time & pretty proud of it . Built my own twin up pipe expansion chambers in High School metal shop class after getting dimensions from Don Vesco to match porting job he had done on cylinders. It couldn’t pull the wings off of two dying fruit flys below about 5000 rpm , but once it hit powerband “HOLY SHIT” did it come alive. Don once set a land speed record at Bonneville with his 100 twin ( 92 or so mph if my memory is correct) so he knew a thing or two about those old Twins. I bought my “ 77 RD-400 that I STILL OWN from him back in ‘78 the year I graduated High school. Many great memories. Thanks for sharing your builds here & keep on “ Living your dream “ 👍. Keep ‘Em rubber side down , OK ?? 😉🤞

As a snowmobile racer with 2 strokes. Just your carb up till the pipe blubbers.(running Rich/won’t sound crisp) Than go down 2 jet sizes should get you where you need to be
Want to throw something out there into the ether. Am 71 now and a very early MMI grad at the Phoenix location. Worked for Honda as mech then manager. About checking for leaks, pressure or vacuum leaks, came up with this method. It worked very well on early GoldWings with that leak prone "Air Ride"suspension. Inject a squirt of freon into a "sealed" system, pressure up a little and go over unit with an electric freon detector commonly used by A/C work. Find leaks in a hurry!
It will be tricky to design a great looking and efficient exhaust line! What a beast! You’ll need a rear drag tire to hold this power! Great job. Greetings from France!
