AMAZING ORANGUTAN REHAB!

  • IAR Indonesia are currently caring for over 100 orangutans at the rescue centre. Every single orangutan has their own story of survival and require round-the-clock care by an expert team of vets and keepers.
    Some have been rescued from captivity and carry the mental and physical burdens of their past, many have watched as their forest home was torn down around them, leaving them stranded and starving.
    No matter what they have gone through, or what their needs are, the team are dedicated to ensuring that every orangutan receives the love and care they need to recover.
    For many orphaned orangutans, this can take years of costly medical treatment and rehabilitation. Without a mother to learn from, it is up to the keepers to teach the essential survival skills they will need to survive in the wild.
    MAKE A DONATION: www.internationalanimalrescue.org/givehope
    The care and dedication poured into this rehabilitation programme has resulted in amazing outcomes for orangutans that once had little hope. From a lifetime behind bars to a life high up in the branches, many have gone on to thrive in protected rainforests.
    This Giving Day for Apes, help us cover the costs of the expensive rehabilitation the team provides. DONATE this Golden Ticket hour and you could help us win a $250 prize that we can put towards this life-saving work!

    Thank you!

    What gorgeous bundles of fun these little people are after lots of TLC. Just look into their eyes.
    At first, infinite sadness, frightened, worried, fearful, longing, missing and then hope which, comes with love and care - what are they thinking ? With the life that these dedicated carers are giving back to them, the peace which this brings after so much trauma gives them confidence to live and learn. They show their characters - all different - just like us. They laugh and they smile. They have moods and tantrums but find comfort in each other - just like us. They just want security, a peaceful stress-free life and a big kiss and a cuddle - just like us. Effectively they ARE us and we are them.

    I don't understand how someone can kill the mothers , capture the little babies and keep them in such terrible conditions. I am happy that your wonderful organization does what it does to help these poor creatures . But it is heartbreaking , so many that probably are suffering and you are not aware of them . The Indonesian government doesn't do enough to protect this treasure , orangutans in the wild are only there and they are critically endangered . Palm oil plantations are destroying their habitat . Poachers are selling the babies . So terrible .

    Why is an orangutan's stomach cute like a balloon?

    • @sylviawilson6160
      @sylviawilson6160 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe they have larger intestines to digest the cellulose in their vegetarian diet.

    • @syahirwan10
      @syahirwan10 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      ahh ok... thank you for explaining....then why not to chimpanzees? their stomach seem flat like human, and why do orangutans appear gentler or calmer than chimpanzees?

    • @juuk3103
      @juuk3103 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@syahirwan10 orangutan are some of the most chill, and funny enough gorillas are the gentle giant, always pictured as violent but actually more chill than chimps

    • @sylviawilson6160
      @sylviawilson6160 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@syahirwan10 I think because Chimpanzees are not strictly vegetarian, they eat other monkeys, even hunt and kill them, as well as eggs, insects, etc. So you could say they do not need the length of intestine needed to digest cellulose to the same extent as Orangutans. My thoughts anyway, I could be wrong. As for behaviour, I agree that Orangutans are calmer than Chinos, but don't know why. 🐒

    Jeremy Bentham--What else is it that should trace the insuperable line? Is it the faculty of reason or perhaps the faculty of discourse? But a full-grown horse or dog (or orangutan) is beyond comparison a more rational, as well as more conversable animal, than an infant of a day or a week or even a month old. But suppose they were otherwise, what would it avail? The question is not, Can they reason?, nor Can they talk? but, Can they suffer? Why should the law refuse its protection to any sensitive being? The time will come when humanity will extend its mantle over everything which breathes.
