Its not just one fandom that gave him the name.. it was the whole of south korea.. his seniors, his juniors, the CEOs, the old people, the young people and everybody that knows about k-pop called him King of K-pop.
G-Dragon is the unquestionable king of kpop. Wait till you see his (and BIGBANG's) live stages. They are collectively called the Kings of Kpop for many reasons, but their power on stage is unbeatable and GD was the one who produced their most popular tracks. If you want to hear GD diss the haters more, check out the live stage for "Middle Finger Up" and the iconic "MAMA Diss". He's not afraid to call out people who wrong either him or his peers. If you want soft GD hours and to hear his singing voice, check the live stage for "Untitled 2014". Welcome to GD and BIGBANG.
GD live stage is another level. The lyrics he writes are always cool because they have 2 different meanings. the flow is always good too. he is on a different level. he is truly a king because there are still no idols in Korea who can be as good as him in writing lyrics. The title "king" was given not from fans but from people who like his music. Bruh, he's just perfect. He's even a professor at kaist 😂👑
GD is a complete musical genius, he makes a lot of different types of music. Most of BB and his own solos are written and produced by himself. He is the king on stage, very swag, but privately he has a very cute personality. Pls more G-dragon’s reaction ,and he called king of live,so also live performances pls
Beautiful reaction👏💛 He is a 2nd gen "idol", but he entered the industry as a rapper before the 1st gen. He is the first idol to bring the culture of self-producing to K-POP. He brought rap and other styles to a market where idols who sang ballads made by companies and danced in the same clothes were the mainstream, and created a new mainstream. He also made group light sticks and finger hearts, flashy hair colors and airport fashion, and idols as fashion brand ambassadors the norm. He created the mainstream of K-POP today, and is an idol for everyone's idols, and the ring he is wearing in this MV is worth USD 6,400,000...
He was dark and mysterious tho if you check his previous albums. He is more brightly in his 30+, after 7 years hiatus. I think the reason that he has few subtitles because his lyrics mainly korean wordplay + culture ect ..., hard to understand if not korean, hard to translate with full meaning. Thank you for your reacting.
One of the first to start "Fingerheart", introduced "Lightsticks" "New Hair Comeback" First to get "Billboard" even before PSY, Richest Kpop Idol, Changed Kpop genre theme, etc etc list never goes off.
I'm down for a G-Dragon journey! Bigbang songs are classics, but G-Dragon stands great on his own and is legendary in his own right. His solo debut is "Heartbreaker", which swept the charts all the way back in 2009, and his last comeback before is "Untitled, 2014" from his self-titled Kwon Ji Yong EP, which was actually released in 2017. His most popular song is "Crooked", but as you'll see with his other MV's (Who You, One of a Kind, That XX, Coup D'Etat, and more), he covers a wide spectrum and practically none of his songs sound at all similar. *note: None of his previous MVs have lyrics (K-Pop was not as global back then), but he's such a great songwriter that it's worth checking out lyric videos as well. Just be careful because a lot of them can be very badly translated. They try, but some of his songs are just really hard to translate (there's a lot of wordplay and expressions that only makes sense in Korean).
I have a similar story about G dragon but I did get into BigBang and it changed my life. I was into anime growing up and I would always hear people talking about G dragon but didn't know who he was. He was like this mythical thing that I knew existed but didn't know anything about. Years later I stumbled across a BTS interview when they were unavoidable. I wasn't into Kpop but I wanted to see what the hype was about with BTS. They were talking about how much they looked up to BigBang so I looked them up and read the name G dragon. Now I had to listen to their music to find out who this guy I used to hear about all the time back in the day was and why so many people loved him. I first watched the Fantastic Baby MV and wasn't impressed with the music but then I watch Bang Bang Bang and thought it was really good. Then I did something that turned BigBang into my favorite group of all time. I watched a live performance. I was absolutely blown away. The aura of these men was overwhelming. Even with their solo projects their live performances were on another level. They're great performers then they're some people who are just different. That just got extra. Even amongst amazing singers and performers they stand out. G dragon, Taeyang, Daesung and T.O.P are just different live. Solo and together. I still go back to those great live performances like MAMA 2015, Feeling on the MADE tour and Haru Haru in Japan still feels impressed. I still watch G dragon Obsession/She's gone from the One of a kind tour, Taeyang White night tour, T.O.P Doom Dada/ act like nothings wrong on the Oto 10 tour and Daesung Anymore from the Japan dome tour and get chills.
For Bigbang, 80% of YG was reliant on BB, first kpop to be respected as Artist, like literal first. 90% of songs written by GD, only male group with more male fans than female fans etc etc. I miss those golden kpop era, their stage presence was something else.
I had been listening only rock but APT. struct me first, then leading to Black Pink, then finally D Dragon and BigBang. GD and BB are the origin of Kpop and the standard. I found the right source of music.

Don't forget his feature on PSY's FACT ASSAULT. He went in hard on his haters and doubters.
