The 5.7, while reliable, actually has more issues than the updated 3.4 turbo V6. $39k in 2019 is like $75k today so the new trucks aren’t anymore expensive.
@@user-tb7rn1il3q I'm not interested in a big debate about it but I will politely disagree. The 5.7 has many documented examples going over 1m miles. I will also point out the 100s of thousands of recalls on the turbo V6. Also, that engine hasn't been around long enough in a Tundra to even make a long term comparison at this point. As for $39k being the same as $75k today. Salaries haven't increased by 52% in the past 5-years. We can agree to disagree.
Where I live all the dealerships play shenanigans, add undesired "cheese" including a $1299 dealer fee. There is a Toyota dealer in South Fl that has no dealer mark ups or dealer fees. Earl Stewart Toyota of North Palm Beach. Absolutely the best buying experience I've ever had.
Re Toyota, its the same situation here in New Zealand, you put down a 2k deposit and pick your model eg Rav4 six trim levels to chose from plus colour and interior colour that’s about it . Then you wait for it to be shipped from Japan which us being in the middle of nowhere can take a long time. My local dealer did have four “demonstrators” to test drive from the basic up to what you see as the Woodland but down here its the “Adventure” model. Note all the R4’s available only in hybrid. Certainly no negotiation on price unlike years ago when I got my last new car, there is “free” five year servicing , but you can be sure it’s just built in to the price. Economically for Toyota it makes sense , you only make what you can sell and you don’t end up having to discount what you can’t. At the production end you only have subcontractors supply parts as needed. Of course for competitors it opens up plenty of opportunity, I see a lot more Mazda CX5’s (the RAV4’s main competitor here) on the road than I used to. My sister ordered an R4 in May 24 and was told recently delivery would be Jan 25!!
My Toyota dealership is the antithesis of your experience. Most dealerships have a decent amount of stock of the expensive trucks. RAV4, Camry and Corolla never stay on the lot.
The lots are empty because ALL of their cars & trucks are sitting in some holding yard stacked 4 high. Then they bring 3 cars/trucks to the dealership and they are crying the blues so that the stupid customers can fall for their bullshit
That certain dealership always to me has the highest price for vehicles in the Valley. And when they modify it they install the cheapest parts and mark them up a lot.
I see this is a month old. It is December 2024 as of my post, Toyota Dealers have lots of inventory around Tampa Fl but all of them play games with fees and add ons.
I was wanting a Toyota when my son's car crapped out on him , but the Toyota dealer said it would take 6 months to get a new Toyota. I told the salesman that I need a car now, told him thanks and went to the Ford dealership and got a new Ford in 2 days ! Sales lost !
I contacted Toyota and they acted as if I was crazy. I'm glad there is a shortage. I was all set to buy one until I verified that both android auto and carplay are a known issue with the current gen Toyotas. I live for the maps and music and having a lot of connect, disconnect restart issues would drive me crazy. There are a few recent videos from car people talking about it. I just experienced it in a 2023 toyota rental and my friend had the same issue with a 2023 rental.
come to Texas the lots are packed. 12k off tundra and 0 % for 72 months free gas for the rest of the year and no payment till 2025 and they still can't sell them. same with the Tacoma.
2025 Toyotas are not as well built as those before pandemic. Even those were not as good as 2010 Toyotas I bought a 2023 4Runner sales rep vehicle for $8k off the msrp. Will probably be my last Toyota. Trying to avoid all the ones with new technology I was in market for a truck. Bought a 2024 Titan Pro4X for $49K OTD. I’d rather have a V8
This is nothing but 'take it or leave it' marketing. The seller calls the price. The buyer has no choice. I'd feel like a victim and would never be a happy or repeat customer. But, you can see the advantages to the seller - limited flooring expenses, smaller inventory to carry, lower overhead, haggle on the dealership's terms, etc. Short term - great for the dealer. Long term - out of business dealer. Who'd come here?
Everything looked overpriced. Speaking on the Corvettes I’ll touch on the C6 convertible. It’s about $8-$10k overpriced. The C8 is overpriced. It’s only a 1LT. You can buy a new one for that now. We’re seeing as much as $15k discounts on new C8’s now. Maybe California is different.
At least all of my toyota dealerships are loaded with vehicles here in Houston. I really hope they don't do orders only. Cause that point you can't negotiate, you're just buying whatever they are charging. And we don't trust the dealership already with their mark ups and bs fees
Toyota’s not good for nothing. They’re still holding their own compared to other brands, and making only what they can sell, which is smart. Also, as Stellantis is sinking, I bought my 2021 Jeep Gladiator from a Toyota dealership AND bought a service / warranty plan backed by Toyota, so the onus is on them to fix it - not CDJR. IF I get a windfall of money for cash down in 2025 I’m planning on MTO a Sienna Platinum AWD for my Family, but that’s still an IF, as I’m a bit strapped as most people are. I’ve got equity in other vehicles but have taken some depreciation hits in the slow market.
No thanks on the new Toyota trucks. We’ll keep our 2019 Tundra that we paid $39k for new and we get our tried and true 5.7 V8.
@@DadsGarageDIY agreed!!!
That is a steal. I can't believe a new tundra now is literally almost double the price
@@drift6785 Yeah, we did get a good deal. I think it stickered for around $46k.

There are dealerships with very good inventory of Tundras and Tacos. They give more allocation to dealers that sell more cars (usually at a discount).
