    I left oz in 91 with a raging heroin habit. My boyfriend Torry was clean & helped me get away back to family in the UK, I got on a maintenance methadone programme & have finally been straight for more than 5yrs. I owe my friend a great deal because not long after I left Sydney the Ice epidemic struck & I'm quite sure I'd have gone for that.
    Even though clean I will always be a recovering addict & susceptible to any & all drugs. I'm in my mid 50's & my heart goes out to all those affected by drugs & the families that usually suffer the consequences most & they too go through hell.

    Going after the users is not going to solve the problem

    • @jacobkain4721
      @jacobkain4721 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, but we still have to go after the users. They present a host of problems without necessarily being involved in the supply chain: in the video, there were parts explaining how the users burglarize normal peoples' homes and steal working peoples' credit card information and even identities in order to fuel their habit; that man trying to secure a meth deal with a pregnant woman is just a user who got "good" at securing his next fix. You can't just ignore that, normal people deserve to not live in fear of having someone break into their house where there children are sleeping, or having someone sell methamphetamines to their unwitting teenagers. There's a root cause to all of these drug addictions and overdoses but we can't just let addicts do their thing until that root cause is effectively addressed. That'd be mad
      Edit/disclaimer: I'm not trying to be heartless, just realistic.. I'm currently only 3 years clean from the shit, myself, lost everything and had to go to rehab. Not looking for credit just making the point that I know what it's like, but that doesn't make it right.

    • @jacobkain4721
      @jacobkain4721 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Also think of all of the hospital beds that go to people who chose to poison themselves.. we psychiatric patients clean from drugs are 1 in 10, where I live, we have to wait hours and hours to be seen by emergency psychiatric services because the other 9 in 10 are high on meth and it takes a long time to come down from that shit. Then they get released and do it all over again. We're even forced to interact with meth users who are actually on the stuff or so irritable from coming down that they're intolerable and even dangerous, imagine suffering from PTSD flashbacks and nightmares that are driving you to consider suicide and some jackass who hit the pipe 2 hours ago is screaming in your face that the doctors and nurses are Nazis for not injecting him with 4mg of lorazepam. It's insane

    Its funny how they say meth is battery acid, battery acid is only the chemicals used to synthesize it, if its dont correctly it should have no leftover chemicals or impurities but thats the problem the cooks are not scientist or chemists so there is a ton of bad meth because its not sanctioned or overseen, when in reality if they were to legalize it and sell pure meth with no other chemicals or impurities and measured doses that you could control it would not be that bad. remember that they make cannabis wax and concentrate by running butane liter fluid gas they also use other gases like propane to extract it then they vacuumed pump all the left over gas. this is only the process they use to make it if done correctly and professionally your not actually smoking battery acid and chemicals. this is highly stupid thing to say but yes there are impurities left over because these are not chemist or professionals and i think this causes more problems than the drug itself as well as dosage. just legalized it and give them pure safe product in dosages that wont send them mad. the illegalization is what is killing people instead why not make it safer so they dont have to be criminals anymore and they dont go crazy. if you sold them clean 5mg rocks they could smoke threw out the day you would never have this problem and they could actually be productive citizens or 2mg rocks they could have 10mg a day and be complete fine instead they are just going mad because you wont give them a safe clean product in a controlled dosage. if you cared about these people this is what yall would do but you look at them as targets your making money on them

    I'm all for dico,s like this, but seriously the amount of BS these cops spew out is disappointing. The super strength comment, the meth teeth etc are baseless with not serious evidence to support. The teeth situation is a direct result of poor and disappearing personal grooming/ hygiene due more so to sleep deepervation. My point being there are users that do managed there health.
    Dealing with this epidemic with a justice/ criminal solution will never work.
    Addiction is a medical, the extreme behaviours that are recounted in this doco are sleep deprecation predominantly.
    Yes it's a filthy terrible drug that destroys society jailing is not the answer.

      Methamphetamine use can lead to reduced saliva production, resulting in dry mouth. Saliva plays a role in protecting the teeth by neutralizing acids produced by bacteria and washing away food particles. With reduced saliva, the mouth becomes more acidic, promoting tooth decay and erosion.

      Hi, thanks for the additional scientific info, was not aware of the significance. The proof is always in the pudding I suppose.
      Surely with good oral hygiene brushing rinsing etc, would eliminate a large percentage of this acid decay?
      Just as there is a percentage of the non Meth users in society that have rotten teeth, damaged enamel, or worst missing teeth due to the lack of oral health?
      I guess there will always be drug addiction, so is it better to say 'Meth use rots your teeth' in which case nothing changes.
      Or to say and promote good oral hygiene with regular clean fluid intake, while taking and the like?
      Hopefully aidding in prevention, rather than treatment?
      But I'm a builder and certainly don't mind good sound logic backed by scientic evidence.
      👍

      @Palestrina, you sound authoritative on oral happens? Be keen to hear your thoughts on the damage of mainstream commercial toothpaste with fluoride. It seems like that be non discriminative in the removal of bacterial in your mouth both good and bad?
      Thoughts?
