    Love this. Hecata are a favorite of mine as well, very fascinating clan. I also miss the many paths of necromancy but do love the Necromancy and Oblivion connection. I really hope they expand on this in coming books.

    A bit late but Necromancy Oblivion has to be my second-favorite discipline, second to Dominate - Having the unnerving power to control something beyond mortals and even Kindred and utilize wraiths in various dark ways is do disturbing but as a narrative it makes for some great scenes - Though base powers and ceremonies don't look tough when compared to potence having a wraith target and find an enemy to beat up or work for you as a spy is heavily useful, undead body guards and the power to undermine fate itself is too great to pass up.

      @VoivodeMekhet  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You know I would have been happy with a Merit for the Hecata that just let them use all of their other disciplines on wraiths and corpses. Imagine looking into a dead bodies eyes and Dominating it to get up and attack... and it does.

      @@VoivodeMekhet That sounds like a great merit for the Rossellini family, even though they have given them I believe it was they can punch a ghost or touch them and it deals damage - so for a Story-teller if the Hecata has Potence I could see that work.
      That's really a great merit the more I think about it - Imagine using Share the Senses of a wraith before sending it to oblivion by destroying it's fetter (What your vampire might see, hear and feel if they wish to know what Oblivion does to a beings senses) - Animalism 5 drawing the beast (Imagine passing your beast temporarily onto a wraith when it surges in a frenzy)

    I could see Skuld Fulfilled being able to affect Kindred when wielded by an elder. After all, we’ve seen Shadow Step being “upgraded” by an elder Hecata in the Styx and Bones chronicle. Now that’s frightening!

      @@VoivodeMekhet effects-wise I feel like a lapse in the preserving properties of the Curse could be appropriate.
      For instance, imagine: here you are, a neonate several decades into unlife, you have all but forgotten that nasty chronic condition that troubled your breathing days. An elder targets you with Skuld Fulfilled, and those all-too-familiar symptoms make a comeback. The psychological effect of such a stark reminder could be much more long-lasting than the occurring damage.

    I personally would modify the V5 rules for the Hecata, like the different families would have different sets of disciplines like the Millners , Putanesca, Dunsirns , dont start with Oblivion since they have been known to be the most Oblivion poor families. I view Hecata not as a clan but a organization or alliance of Necromantic clans and bloodlines. Also the families would have different weaknesses. Starting disciplines would be: Millners(Dominate, Presence , Fortitude), Putanesca(Potence, Celerity, Dominate), Dunsirns(Dominate, Fortitude , Potence). They could learn Oblivion later with normal exp. expenditure. These 3 families are mostly focused with money finance and not so much on oblivion. Millners specialize on US politics, Putanesca on US and Italian mafia, Dunsirns are Scottish bankers with strong influence in the UK with a secret of being a Kinfolk werewolf family of the Fianna and the Black Spiral dancers, not surprised the Dunsirns have abominations and contacts with the Black Spiral Dancers, heck many of them are cannibals. Dunsirns could also have strong links to Pentex. but are being kept a secret from the rest of the family.

    • @VoivodeMekhet
      @VoivodeMekhet  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The idea of a Dunsirn that has had enough crap from the main family and just goes full BSD is the most funny thing I've pictured in a long time.

    • @johnwalsh4857
      @johnwalsh4857 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VoivodeMekhet I think one of the Dunsirns very dirty secret is that they have ties with the BSD. Probably funnel money to the BSD too. Or heck how about muddy the whole thing where the Dunsirns still have some ties with the Fianna. and they play the BSDs and Fianna. The Dunsirns would have the most knowledge of the Garou lore in the Hecata.

    I believe that while Hecata presents a unified front , lots of divisions inside, lots of hatred and back stabbing due to past sins. Children of Ashur and Lamia still hate the Giovanni, Children of Tenochilan hate the Children of Ashur, all of them view the Nagarajah as an alien suspect bloodline, probably somewhat similiar to the Children of the Baron. The Dunsirns millners and Putanesca dislike the Giovanni for constant meddling and think of the rest of the family as bonkers. and the Giovanni plan to end the world by opening up the shroud was severely disrupted by the 2nd Inquisition when they hit the Giovanni power bases hard. And of course the Giovanni trying to corrall everyone and getting pissed off when being told by everyone else to piss off. and probably get laughed at during meetings.

    • @VoivodeMekhet
      @VoivodeMekhet  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think that this is a valid point and that it is made very evident when reading the story Styx & Bones in the Cults of the Blood Gods suppliment. In that story a bloodfeud between a cappadocian and a Giovanni sparks a series of murders that nearly breaks the Masquerade in Munich Germany. The only reason that the Giovanni aren't being erraticated is because over 500 years they are who people remember as the Clan of Death and as acting as the face of the clan the Hecata can still take advantage of the promise of 1528 without being bothered by the Camarilla or the Anarchs. After the Promise is over there may be a purge of the Giovanni.

  • @johnwalsh4857
    @johnwalsh4857 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    as for other stuff within the Hecata: The rosselini in secret or an open secret that they are revenants, Children of Tenochitlan or formerly known as the Pisanob still hate teh Harbringers of Ashur, The Giovanni family are still defacto leaders of the Hecata but dont really have control over the other families, they hate this fact. The descendants of the Baron is secretly a Drowned legacy of Latin American vampires. Not surprised the Nagaraja is teh bridge to the True Hand and the orient and their spies in teh Hecata. I think politically wise, the leadership factions are the Giovanni, Children of Tenochitlan, the opposition are: Children of Ashur and Gorgons. Finances(who like to keep away from Hecata politics): Millners, Dunsirns and Putanesca. Independent: Children of the Baron and Nagarajah. The largest group by far are the Giovanni.

    • @VoivodeMekhet
      @VoivodeMekhet  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A fair point. Perhaps with the Samedi acting as the spiritual leaders of the Hecata there tactics will change and the new blood will begin building relationships with the wraiths rather than forcing them into servitude.

  • @johnwalsh4857

    Also another family maybe are the Grimaldi revenant family used to be Sabbat and I bet they all defected to either the Camarilla or Hecata. (more like the Camarilla). The reinvention of the Sabbat probably made the Sabbat revenant families independent, I can see the Bratovich or maybe even Obertus still staying with the Sabbat, but Zantosa and Grimaldi gone defected. Zantosa goes back to the Tzimisce and Grimaldi probably the Camarilla joining the Duckeski.

    • @VoivodeMekhet
      @VoivodeMekhet  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In my past plotlines I always have the Grimaldi abandoning the Tzimisce due to the constant abuse and joining ranks with the Camarilla Ventrue. They are a perfect fit for the bluebloods and would advance fare in a system where they might actually see reward. As for the Zantosa, I don't know. As long as they get to play hedenists in high society I think they'll stay in the Sabbat. If the Tzimnisce move closer into the Anarchs I don't see them doing well in that faction.

    the Hecata being a thing, and Obten/Necro merging together into Oblivion (not "a split" like you say) are two of the biggest mistakes in v5. Up there with Quietus and Thaum being merged, and losing most of the Thaum paths.

    • @VoivodeMekhet
      @VoivodeMekhet  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I live the merging of Obten and Necromancy. It reflexs the idea that Obten was Mortis and that Necromancy is what the Giovanni brought to the clan.
      I do hope that we eventually get Thaum paths again.

    • @carna-9501
      @carna-9501 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The two disciplines merged as the the shadowlands and the abyss have merged into one plane. It makes sense from a lore point of view. Hecata coming into existence is a way to protect the Giovanni from the Camarilla, as the treaty is coming to an end in just 7 years, and the Giovanni do not wish to be subjugated or destroyed by either the Cam or the Sabbat. The Clans of death are now our own sect in a way, all of the children of Cappadocious have come back together, and now we can stand on our own.

  • @johnwalsh4857
    @johnwalsh4857 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Yah eventually the Abyss is the source of the Oblivion power. in the old rules, Necromancy and Obtenebration got their power from the Abyss.
