Excellent video, no frills or nonsense Nunchaku practise. You can almost feel the power from the strikes. Most of the YT videos have people holding toy-like pairs which do not convince anyone.
For the record, people who are proficient with “theatrical tricks” know how to do basic striking maneuvers shown in this video. Once you go way pass this level, you start to humour yourself by spinning and tossing the chucks.
Impressive very impressive and also very unique and also very incredible I just wish I could have done something like this in my original karate class it would have made me into a stronger better person if I had to use the nunchucks to correct way and the right way to flow it's all about mastering the technique and knowing how to use your weapon the right way the way of the martial arts way 🥋🙏😌🙏🥋
The basics help, but the cross stance with the throw (aimed at throat and eyes) is misleading, as you should keep it under your armpit with the movement going into a flick that mimics a punch, where the target is either the neck, eyes or head. The Chinese dart is also a method that uses the throw, but it is necessary to use snapping movements with the chain and sticks. However, the technique could be beneficial for kata.
The further down, the more leverage, thus the more power and also of course, more range. This is one of the rare practical kata for actually striking with a nunchaku rather than learning body motions through a weapon.
@@areitomusic actually the nunchaku is a form of flail which was used to thresh grains in the late middle ages around the 15th century in germany and central europe. though the nunchaku (short flail) saw its first uses in asia around the 15th to early 16th centuries for threshing rice. it was also seen around the same time in the phillipines. sadly, the actual "origin" is not known. however, the weapon that the nunchaku came from is well known to have originated in germany and central europe.
it depends on who is teaching. more modern teachers teach to hold it further up. the older, more traditional styles teach this way. that is because this focuses more on striking power than speed. you also get better follow through with the longer grip. this allows for stronger strikes without the bounce back of the shorter grip. in either case, the follow through is quite important to avoid the bounce back and likelyhood of striking oneself.
@@AH-cu5zt who will lose his nunchucks as soon as he hits something, because the nunchucks will bounce out of his hands when he hits something hard. It slips out of his hand , when you have your grip higher it also can slip but then u have still grip under your hands. Because there is still some nunchucks under your hand you can hold.

Anybody knows the name and Kobudo style of this kata?
This is from Matayoshi Family Kobujutsu.
Didnt the ninja create the nunchucks?
NO. Nunchaku is an Okinawan weapon - not Japanese.

I think u have no controle of Your nunchucks , when u hold them like in the video. You hold them 50 or 66procent from the top. Not all the way doen.
