Lucy is a very talented female karate expert, and her demonstration with nunchucks is amazing, absolutely deserves her black belt and is an inspiration to us women oss🥋
Can someone explain the bunkai behind the long figure of 8 movements please? Is it a wrist exercise? Is it to keep your opponent back? Maybe a distraction? I’m intrigued, thanks
When learning this I was told it is not a strike or a block, as you are not striking anything or blocking anything. My conclusion to this question was that it is up to the student to use this technique situationally. There are many ways to utilize the figure 8 movement despite the fact that once people learn it isn't a strike then they loose interest. Personally I like to use it as a distraction, a way to keep the opponent guessing when and where you will strike next, and to keep your weapon moving to allow for faster transitions. You can strike your opponent much faster while moving constantly, especially if he has no idea where the strike is going to come from(this takes years of daily practice it took almost 7 years for me to even get the basic fundamentals of this weapon mastered and I also practice bo, sai, comma). It also helps to think of the weapon as an extension of your own body. if the weapon was not in your hands you wouldn't stand still like a statue in a fight, well at least I hope not. so you want to keep this weapon moving, especially because it relies on momentum to be effective. It could also be used as a strength training technique in a dojo, I've had my sensei make us do the figure 8 until our arms were going to fall off, but after years of doing so my strikes are much more accurate and controlled vs sloppy and out of control. As I mentioned above the weapon should appear as an extension of your body, not an obstacle to it.
There isn't one. This is utter crap. Don't waste your time with these fake videos unless it's to have a good laugh (can be quite depressing though, seeing such talent wasted with fake martial arts).
Absolutely! I'm quite baffled by these nunchaku videos (I'm on a nunchaku / kobudo horror show binge). I also find it quite sad seing what are (like this lady) perfectly fit and physically capable individuals wasting their time with utter nonsense like this rather than learning proper kobudo / martial arts techniques. Quite perplexing.
I've played handball with chuck and into freestyle just looking for something more advanced, everything is good and all,. Just looking for more finesse, flow. Is this the black belt kata?
Agreed. Not knocking the importance of the kata, and I personally doing this kata prefer to swing in reverse to what is shown here. Reason being the fluid motion the even and complete circular motion brings with devastating precision both on offense and defense. Looking at the effects of the slower speed being swung times the hand positioning on catch and release plus the unglued motion that looks crisp at first is shown in the flight path of the nunchaku ..... She seems comfortable and precise as per say, but she still swings as though scared of them. My current toy is 3/4 inch galvanized piping each section just over 12 inches weighted down with 1/8 braided steel cable weighing in right at five pounds of swinging pleasure for better upper body workout.
It's going soo smoothly,I appreciate it✨

Figure 8 application is to control distance, it isnt a strike.
Es un ejercicio de habilidad, no tiene porqué tener bunkai😅

@@omn8612 I't BS, that's all it is.
A ridiculous kata, but above all there is a lack of knowledge in the use of the nunchucks, he doesn't even know how to hold them correctly.
