56 years old here mate... and just took off 25kgs... recalibrating my relationship with food & drink was the key... and 30 minutes of easy exercise (stretching, weights and resistance) and stop eating for 'pleasure' and start eating to 'refuel' AND make sure you eat real food!
this is so spot on. I am in my early fifties and found my cholesterol started to go up a little. I changed from having a cheese sandwich and bag of chips for my work lunch to tuna and crackers, plus i cut out muesli/snack bars and had fruit instead. Over a couple of months i lost 8 kilos and my cholesterol is now fine. it was an easy transition and demonstrates that the old cliché of a "body is built in the kitchen" rings true. Well done on your lifestyle change Pat.
Thanks mate! And congrats on knocking off your kilos too 🙌
Recently diagnosed diabetic here. We 4WDrs get a bad wrap for lifestyle choices. Appreciate this video and mostly agree - Glad you are putting wider social influence to good purpose !!
You are spot on regarding the intake of correct foods/drink...
Well done mate😊
I found that exercise really isn't needed for weight loss but is good for mental health, removing sugar and carbs completely from my intake allowed me to lose 18kg in just 12 weeks. Only whole foods, Full fat Meat and Veggies. I would drop 0.5kg's in just 2 days at some stages. When your body starts burning the stored fat for energy you just feel so much better. To do this you cant drink alcohol at all, having just 1 beer will pause the process for a whole week. Love the show
Thanks for that good information, must say I was more worried you might of been sick, glad to hear your ok.
You’re not the first to have thought that! But thankfully feeling great and clean bill of health
What health transformation starts with I thought you were sick?
@@dirtmonkey4x435 most major cancers often the first sign is weight loss. If you are anyone you know has unexpected weight loss they need to see a doctor urgently.
The only time Pat has been spotted with no Akubra 😂
Good job good to see your looking after yourself
Nice one mate. I too was getting a little heavy pushing almost 150kgs. I went carnivore and the weight just melted away. Dropped a few shirt and pant sizes. I was down 25ish kgs in a couple months. Have put a couple back on again with the christmas splurging but I'm back on it now and on my way to sub 100kgs.
Though I was 100% diet. I figured my daily work/activities were enough excercise for my liking 🤣.
But like you, once I lost the weight, I was feeling much better, more fit and energetic.
Keep it up 😁
Well done Pat & congratulations. I have been on a similar journey since my early 50s (62 now). Diet is crucial, especially keeping off the carbs and that means beers as well. However, one or two now and then is ok. A long with 4wd and camping I now include mountain biking and hiking. Love mountain biking, it has revolutionised my fitness. Also agree that cold immersion and saunas are terrific for health and well being.
Thanks for shared this, I think it is so important in our off road community. Let's change the culture a little from beers to trekking on foot and unhealthy foods to great health and tasty foods 😊
Nice work Pat. I'm on the same journey, and it's very rewarding. I would go so far as to say life changing. It really is worth it!
Well done Pat
Great job Pat, I dropped 20 kilo in 6 months, my biggest change was I stopped eating bread particularly white as I ate it every day at work for lunch, I swapped it for chicken n veg / salad, your spot on with saying 80/20 Diet and exercise, it definitely starts in the kitchen, again well done you look great
You look great mate! Thanks for sharing
Have been watching you since your first high country trip with 4WD action in the Suzuki and bumped into your group on the Tasmania trip too , glad to see you’ve gone from one success to another.
Well done Pat, looking great and proud of you
Thanks mate! 🙏
Good on you, and recognising this before any major health issues. Also cutting out the smokes and grog help too. I had open heart surgery last year, so a focus on your health is never too late.
Good for you Pat. Well done as it’s a tricky journey to loose weight and keep fit as we get older. Steve 🇦🇺
good on ya Pat!
Good one, Pat.
9 years ago, under supervision, for medical reasons, I reduced 23,5kg in 16 weeks.
Have maintained a 19kg reduction since, maintaining 91kg.
I see it as reduction, most definitely not, a loss, as I certainty don't want to find it again.
All the best to you.🙏
Also you prolong your life to see this great country. Im from WA, saw you in the pub at Arkaroola last September. Arkaroola great place for bush walking. Personally lm in my 60s never touch salad or vegetables, only consume meats egg and all dairy. 6ft 77 kilograms. Never been sick.
This is so inspirational, I am 50 and struggling to drop weight even though I do exercise (6k) walks most days since Christmas, I am 96kg 179cm so my BMI is around 30 so have to do something to get out of heart attack zone. Decided to reduce carbs, move to fruit shakes with ice and increase protein and these last two weeks have been amazing. Defo meal orientated not exercise over 50. Less potatoes and pasta does it for me and no bread.
Good on ya Pat. Im going back to carnivor diet soon. I did it for a year at 37 years old. Now 40. Good way to drop that last bit of belly too. As your gut holds onto 5kg of water to help break down vegies. First week sucks then the energy system swaps over
Good for you Pat and a good example to set. You're right that once you get past 40 or so, it becomes a lot harder, so diet is key. 👍
Well done mate! 👍
Great work Pat.
Congratulations m8...Well done
Congratulations Pat - and thank you for sharing.
Thanks for Sharing
Very important to all of us 40+
Lead from the front! Go get em! 💪
It's a pity more people don't give a thumbs up. Giving the thumbs up expands the potential to new viewers . Come on folks . Pat has a good msg, we should encourage this information. We all know ppl tubbed out.
Thanks Pat , congrats .
Oh Pat, my name , play on lettering , not anything more .
👍🇭🇲🦘
Thanks for the encouragement! Appreciate your kind words.
On the same path Pat down 12kg at 56 ❤
Well done, Pat very worthwhile in the 50's good for the ticker & possible diabetes. Personally I ride 15 k a day and walk 6 ks and eat well has made an enormous difference. Arrh you need some restraint with Thirst responder...ok to go of the track occasionally. 9 degree water I think I would looking for the nuts! Safe travels
Great advice.
Great video, thanks for posting.
I'd love to know what the elastic band contraptions you were using are..?
Well done mate 👍
Exercise only accounts for about 5% weight loss. Best foods for weight loss are: Red meat, chicken, eggs, butter, salt (very much underrated), bacon, fatty fish.
No bread, pasta, margarine, fast food.
Thanks for the tips Pat
Great advice, well done!
My sister who has just turned seventy attributes her current weight loss success to consulting a nutritionist who gave her a diet plan that was CUSTOMISED to her lifestyle and preferences. She says she could not have done this alone. Nutritionist are used to helping people with serious health conditions - allergies, intolerance, diabtetes etc -- and they can really help you cut through the conflicting advice, and fine-tune your dietary intake in ways you would never think of for yourself.
Depending on what other health professionals you are already seeing, your GP may be able to refer you to a dietitican/nutritionist for 5 free visits .
Thanks for the tips Pat, I’m trying to do the same thing after realizing at 53 i can’t just wing it anymore. What are those stretchy things you had in the vid?
wow i thought you had surgury so well done mate for bein commited exellent !
Good onya Pat
Well done Mate.
Good on you mate 👍
cool story, what a bout the new front bar.
It's comin, don't you worry. -Team
Well done champion
Hi Pat, well done. Can I ask what the exercise equipment you were using in this video. Cheers.
Pat what’s the workout board you’re using? Looks good
Well we may be wrong, but the wife & I picked up on this during Covid, you were stranded in Alice Springs I think. For some reason there appeard to be a bit less Pat than we remembered.
Yes, the thought went thru our minds, is he unwell?
But you just never seemed to show symptoms of being unwell, so I'm truly pleased you stipulated you're fine.
In August 2010 we did a trip to the Cape, as it was so much warmer than southern NSW (brrr) I elected to go shirtless.
Wow, when I saw the images and videos taken I was so embarrassed.
Returned home, by Christmas I'd dropped in excess of 10kg, purely by changing diet, cutting out cordial for water was the biggest contributing factor for me.
By Easter I'd shead 16 kgs, said no to choclate (hard to do) and felt so darn good it wasn't funny.
Weirdly, everyone thought I was ill too, even my doctor had concerns I'd lost too much weight in too short a time frame.
All was great until we did a tour of SA & Vic with my sister, Easter 2013. Eating for pleasure, dining out, well I couldnt believe how quick the weight went back on.
Bloody annoying part is, I'm heavier now than ever before, can't muster the willpower I previously had.
Was never big beer drinker, but now love a beer, gotta cut them out.
Keep up the good health promotion Pat.
Don't faulter as I have.
Christ, I retained as an incentive a pair of jeans I used to wear, can't even squeeze a leg in now, let alone both and hips, 😂
Bro, you used to carry a keg of beer around.
He still does. Checkout the F-150 build! -Team
So I guess there is no beer tap in the new car?, or have you got a keg of Burleigh Big Heads?
The beer keg remains in the F-150. Fear not! -Team
Well done for dropping the weight of mate, probably added years to your life and living in good health but what about the grog? As many calories in a can of beer as in a can of coke. And no amount of cold plunges will undo the damage alcohol does to your body.
Excellent that you have achieved this. Good video BUT some more actual info and strategies, rather than just jumping into an Ad would have been much more credible.
Happy to share some more, and I will over the coming months. People seem interested based on these comments, so more than happy to go into more detail.
Your metabolism needs fuel to keep your bodily processes ticking along at a steady 37°C. That’s a lot of energy. A 40 minute daily exercise regime is a small percentage of energy expenditure in comparison to maintaining your metabolism over 24hrs. Don’t get me wrong, good quality strength and resistance exercises is still required. I’m just saying, as you said, that smashing the gym alone and then grabbing a burger isn’t going to work. You wouldn’t put poor quality fuel in your vehicle so why would you do that to your body.
I don't see a difference
Your either new here, or a shit person? 😉
You probably lost a lot of weight having to walk out of the bush because your ford grenaded.
Yeah that must've been it 🙄 - Team
HEY PAT...I MISSED THE HOW MUCH THE ONBOARD KEGS BIDDING FOR ATM ON EBAY?? 🤔😊😂..
