Townshend came by to say hello and Stephen McCarthy, our ace guitarist, asked Pete to be in the video but he politely declined. He was quite hospitable, he was, Pete Townshend. And this was done 1987 as I recall but Tom Stevens knows more than I and may say it was Sept 1986 as we were in Europe then too to tour Spain. As regards Doug McGrath below he is a totally cool dude. Hi Doug! True West were a brilliant, brilliant Paisley Underground band who were tragically never signed to a major label and who should have been HUGE. They were my g-g-g-generation's answer to Television.

But it's a shame so many people haven't been exposed to them. Every friend of mine who's listened to their stuff hanging out at my house has said, "Hey, who are these guys? They're really good!"
Yeah. How do you replace Tom? The invisible Bass man. Never in trouble on the fretboard, always exactly right. Always. I can play Bass but not like that. Mercy. RIP Tom.
You don't replace him. But someone picks up his spurs and they carried on. That someone is Murry Hammond of the Old 97's and I can't think of a better fit.
They remind me of the Monkees....the look, the sound, the feel is much the same. I'm searching for a video/live performance of "Born To Believe In You." Would love to see them performing one of my favorite songs of all time live. Please post if possible. Thanks.

Son Volt did this song as an encore last year in Cleveland. Great song as performed by both groups.
There original by NRBQ in 1978 was good, but I don't think as good as this rendition.
