Cool review. Bought this same guitar back in April and can't put it down. Korean made or not its everybit as well made or better than a 90s mij Jackson i bought new. Something about that neck does it for me...and it just looks cool as hell and sounds even better.
Great video. Point of clarification: ESP doesn't own Schecter or hold it as a sub-brand such as they do with LTD, Grassroots, Edwards, Navigator. Schecter is owned by the same individual but is run as a completely separate company.
What I don't understand is that ESP mentioned a TB6 at NAMM and even a few days ago, their website mentioned a TB6 and not a '78. Finally ESP changed the specifications on their website only very recently. What bothers me is that the '78 isn't really very hot when compared to the TB6, the Hunter, the screaming Demon or Arcane's Mr Scary. Another thing that bothers me is that George never seems to have played on a '78. During the Dokken era he played on an overwounded TB6 made by MJ. I ordered this guitar the day it appeared at Thomann. It won't arrive until September, but if it's a '78, I'm canceling my order. I love the '78 (I own one) which was designed for EVH (even though he never used it) but it's just a PAF wound differently and it's a far cry from the TB6. Finally, if I change the pickup, I can get an E-II M-I NT for almost the same price.
I'm on the list to get the ESP Custom Shop version from Japan. I have a real Kamikaze 1 too. Is it worth the extra 3 or 4 K over the LTD? Maybe, but you get the maple body versus alder and Gotoh tuners, better pickups and better Floyd. I admit the ESP custom shop guitars are like crack, you get addicted to them. Four months ago, I got an Eclipse custom shop in the Andromeda finish.
Ok after some research on the ESP Japan website it appears that they have changed all the pickups on the LTD, EDWARDS and ESP for Duncan '78. No more Hunter on the ESP Custom shop, no more TB6 on the LTD... so I will cancelled my order, the ‘78 is a very good HB, but it's not that hot for my expectations.
Esp MIK are very good guitars, but today they tend to be priced on a par with E-IIs, or worse, in some cases, higher. Last November I purchased a E-II EX NT for €2194 (tax included) and when I see that certain LTD can cost more than €2500 (taxe included), i’m wondering was the hell is ESP strategy? Worst, For less than €2250 (taxe included) I can have the new Jackson USA SL2 HT.
@@InGrindWeCrust2010 I've just cancelled my pre-order and will opt for either an E-II M-I HT candy apple red, or the new Jackson USA SL2HT. The SD '78 sealed my choice

Lynch never played Ltd he played ESP only it's not really a real signature model it's a cheaper version of the Lynch model about three thousand cheaper.
$1,699 is ridiculous. And check the whale tail on that crappy Korean Floyd Rose 1000... is it bent? $1,700 should get you a real German made Floyd Rose IMO...
I love the George Lynch guitars, he's probably my favorite Guitarist of all time. I got to add this one to my collection, Great video.👍
@@metalhead7181 Yes, it’s great! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! 🤘
I thought I did notice those irregularties in the features....but I thought the video was still good....cool that you redid it anyway.
Thanks so much for taking the time to watch and comment! I appreciate you!

@@robertsole9970 That’s awesome! Congratulations! They are definitely different animals and ESP CS is top notch!!!

Agree. Honestly, I'd prefer this model to be made in Indonesia and cost a few hundred less.

Man, I so appreciate you and your perspective. I 1000% agree. I was taught “if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all!”
I thought the only mistake you made was wearing that shirt 🤣

Well that is an opinion. However, I believe you don’t know what year it is.
Korea 👎👎👎👎👎
Koreans make solid guitars. Many Dimebag guitars are Korean made and half the price of USA shops.
