I adored this style and I’d love to chat with you about cyberpunk and your inspirations. I really like the last blade runner movie and also adored the style of the fifth element which has a very European flavour to the city.

I’m so sick of Netflix canceling everything I like after just two seasons😭🤬🤬
After they cancelled the OA even though all 5 seasons had already been written, I almost lost it. Then Altered Carbon was another gut punch. It started when Travelers got cancelled. All 3 of those shows bore deep into my soul and asked questions about humanity that people have desperately been asking since last March. It was so shortsighted of Netflix to cancel these gems!

this masterpiece should be renewed. I really hope it happens. They already did it once. There should be more of videos like this to bring more public to the show. The world they built and the concepts they've shown is just mesmerising

@@nsdksstktzi89765 I think for me it was the actor change, the season 1 actor played him so perfect and connected himself really well with the character, I feel like the 2nd season actor didn’t do that as well. And also the first season had a better story line also.
@@isaachowie4905 Well, I agree with you on having that feeling but then I realized that it is 30 years had passed when the second season started as Takeshi mentioned to Poe so I would see it as a representation that people change and so did Kovacs. At this point I’d see it weird if the character didn’t change between seasons and if we don’t compare two seasons - the second stands for me as a strong standalone story with nostalgia on the first. Though I wish the didn’t make action this epic - the first one had a perfect balance on that

Yup. 2nd season was... ok. But none of the grit, profanity, beauty, depth, nudity, or feeling of dread that the first season brought us. Too bad really.

The second season forgot how to be Altered Carbon. Season 1 was an examination of humanity in a world without death; that the Meths were in reality, exactly like the grounders they looked down upon. It was about family... about ties of the blood and matters of the heart. It’s villains weren’t trying to end the world, they were trying to understand, trying to reconnect with their families. The main villain of Season 1 was Rei, Takeshi’s beloved sister turned criminal Meth mastermind. Season 2 is about space dragons. The main villain of Season 2 was a f***ing space dragon.
None of those Season 1’s are elaborated on in Season 2. The best parts of Season 2 were about the Meths. There was only one important Meth in season 2: Danica Harlan... and she was great. So was Jaeger. If Jaeger were the main villain of Season 2, then it might’ve been good. But space dragon. Altered Carbon is about the effects of body swapping tech on humanity, it’s literally what the title means, but Season 2 was about aliens trying to destroy the world.
In summary; dragons ruin everyone’s favorite shows.

Altered Carbon is one of myfavorite sci-fi series that i've ever seen. The new science-fiction cyberpunk drama stars Joel Kinnaman and James Purefoy and is set in a distant future where death is a thing of the past. It’s a gritty dystopian science-fiction show that evokes Blade Runner or, perhaps more accurately, Neuromancer. Thank you for making this. This made my day.
I didn't really like the second season. Right from its reveal, I knew it would be off. Far too clean and standardised.

Season 1 was a masterpiece. I'm not even a big fan of sci-fi. Season 2 doesn't exist and you can't tell me otherwise.
+1... after seeing Season 2 I was actually relieved to hear they cancelled the show. Obviously they no longer had the budget nor inclination to create anything even approaching the quality of the original season. Felt contrived and uninspired.

Season 2 could have been great. They just didn't put in as much effort or budget to make it right. Tried riding the success of the first season, without adding anything new.
The first season was the best season of any TV series I've ever seen in 41 years of being a sci-fi addict. A masterpiece.

I'm so god damn frustrated that Netflix cancelled this show holy shit. Now we'll never have a chance to see a comeback of Joel Kinnaman as Takeshi Kovacs ffs
The first season of this show is my favorite tv show of all time. I’m more of a movie person and it really takes a lot for me to get invested in a show. But god damn I can watch Kovacs over and over and it never gets old.
Thank God season 1 doesn't leave that many loose ends. Almost every character finishes their story arc. You can rewatch season 1 and pretend it's the end.
I agree completely, I've rewatched the first season so many times, and watching Kinnaman and Higareda never gets old. I was heartbroken to see it canceled and I was lucky enough to have a warning not to watch season 2 and ruin the experience. I really wish we got to see more, especially since it's hard to make a captivating show that keeps the viewer interested and season 1 did just that. It always hurts the most to see what could have been but didn't happen.

perfect choice of music - this particular one also known as Quell's theme is what I always remember when I go back to the show in my thoughts
It hits me that all in all it's a love story. First season with Kinnaman was just beautiful. I love Mackie, another very gorgeous man but I'd give anything for Kovacs to have kept the Ryker sleeve.

This is so sad what Netflix did with season 2, it looks like they killed their universe on purpose 😢 this is my biggest disappointment from the platform, they have chosen money over quality
I thought that season 2 was pretty good actually. There were parts that could have been better, but overall it was great to me.
I was disappointed aswell. Not so much about Season 2, which I think was okay-good~ish. Definitely disappointed about Altered Carbon getting cancelled and remaining an unfinished story. There was a lot of stories that couldve been told. But realistically speaking Altered Carbon was just too expensive for Netflix to keep it running. Especially when you compare S1s and S2s visuals you can see that they put a lot more effort into S1 probably because it had a much higher budget. And then after S2 it probably just didnt pay off for Netflix, even with the lower budget.
Season 2 was awesome! It was just a different kind of awesome.
Remove the veil of expectations and you'll see.
It was a LITTLE guppy, like they rushed it a bit. But still a quality show better than anything HBO could have done.
I really liked the scene in one of the last episodes between Poe and Kovacs talking about what it means to be human. They really developed Poe's character over s2, I like to think of him as the protagonist instead of Kovacs

In my opinion, Mackie's performance in season 2 was good if not great, but anyone's would have paled in comparison to Kinnaman's. He set the bar too high and people got attached. Most people didn't know that it was always planned to have a different Kovacs every season, in honor of the source material.

Seeing Joel Kinnaman in this hurts. The way he portrayed his character, just pure heartbreak, beauty, and badassness. I wish I could see it for the first time again.

Étant fan de l’univers cyberpunk,inutile de dire que altered carbon (saison 1 en tout cas) a été l’une des séries N netflix que j’ai le plus apprécié à regarder! Un peu plus de budget et on aurait juste atteint la perfection! Et puis Joël...quelle performance!

This show is one of the best cyberpunk contents out there
1st season was AWESOME I feel like the current trending and movie or show goers miss out on cyberpunk in general they miss out on the themes the 1st season pitched forward when the writers wrote for the 2nd season it really showed how little the population truly understands the themes and ideas behind cyberpunk 2nd season felt more action packed and less character or story driven sequences.
First season was incredible like something out of blade runner than second was a watered down sci-fi

I know with the mechanics of sleeves and all, it only makes sense for the actor to change after a timeskip, and season 2’s actor really does a good job, but imho he can’t reproduce the feeling of the first two bodies we’ve seen takeshi in

Season 1 was so epic and beautiful in design and scale....season 2 you saw the budget shrink when a lot of scenes were suddenly filmed in Canadian parks and dull gray concrete backgrounds.

the main question that it always seemed to me this story asked was how can humans continue living in a world of seemingly eternal life, yet eternal trauma and suffering?

Season 1 was amazing. Season 2 was a mess. I powered through it but couldn't even tell you what it was about. It's a shame. Acting was wooden. Plot was all over the place.
It felt more like some CW superhero show than a sequel to season 1. No violence, no nudity, no drug and drinking abuse, wooden acting, storyline that didn't make sense.
And that ****** magnetic handgun that they hyped up, but literally used ZERO times in combat!

I enjoyed the first season, second season not so much...I get that Takeshi changed sleeves...but his character COMPLETELY changed...into someone unlikeable.
