My feelings and thoughts are mixed while watching this video. The cities, streets and building shows the scars of past assaults and wars, people must have witnessed horrors. But at the same time, people look alive, joyful and kind. All I hope is that one day they know peace forever. Great video Kurt, as usual !

Kurt,I do enjoy your videos bringing the most non-tourist places of the world to educate me. This one goes to the top with all of the seeming chaos, noise, and oversight that is part of daily life. Wow. Your Pakistan video also stands out like this. You have done your homework on the history and I appreciate getting your Africa Sur perspective on it. Your work is excellent. Thank you.
at 39:16 the exact translations are as follows between the guy holding the camera and the other person. guy who took the camera: Do I give it to him or Other guy: First, those people are tourists and their camera is small the same as a cellphone that's 1 and 2, this is the opposite of bad, they will show people our civilization and we should always give them a break. It is in fact the opposite, we should be happy instead. It seems that the other guy is their superior and possibly teaching them, the younger lower rank policemen. I genuinely think that they are not meaning any harm at all. You have to understand the suffering the people went over decades and how they developed a mistrust in people from the outside as nearly everyone from the outside has harmed them. They are now healing and nearly fully recovered and trying to navigate through those new and unusual times. I do hope that the true colors of Iraqis show up as we are known to be extremely generous. I did want to say one thing that I thought was funny how I its a bit ironic that an Iraqi born in Baghdad (me) who was forced out the country is watching a tourist video about his own country. Unfortunately I was a young child when we left and I have no family living there as they were all spread across many different countries and continents. It is very sad to be from a place but barely know anything since your earliest memories are just before and after the war. However, It is looking a lot safer so hopefully one day I get to visit my birthplace.
@this-is-slammin-549 To be honest I am not entirely sure. I've heard more positive stories about how welcoming people are and the vast majority are. Iraqis are known to be extremely hospitable. However, there are always the thorns that ruin it all for everyone. I do hope that those thorns are going to get removed asap

One little thing (I havent finished the video so maybe someone will tell you later): the 'rosary beads' at 3:30 (theyre called tesbih in Turkish, its the same pronunciation in Arabic but a different spelling) are not made to be worn around the neck, but to hold in the hand to do 'dhikr' (rememberance of Allah) with. In Islam, they do dhikr to remember themselves of the greatness of Allah. One must say 'subhanallah' 33 times, alhamdulilah 33 times and Allahu akbar 33 times (and then a prayer once at the end). The beads on the rosary go to 33 and then a different bead is on there to remind you that you are at 33, so you can go to the next part of the dhikr
Bro he’s in the most random places in Baghdad even as Iraqi person i never visited in my life 😂😂 we have alot incredible places and alot of people speaking english it easily to make conversation with them
Isn’t that a thing in Arabic culture still? It’s considered disrespectful to shake with your left hand, so it makes sense why the guy would still try to shake with his right. Same reason why the guy on the rickshaw he waved at didn’t want to shake his hand when Kurt offered him his left hand.

Kurt visited a place that is considered downtown of Baghdad which is known that you can interact with people who are not educated to higher levels especially those who are working their. In addition, the guy who tried to kiss you, it is shame for him but this can happen sometimes from minority of people when they see a handsome man and doesn't have an access to have a woman and use this opportunity.
The only lists of western countries involved in the invasion of Iraq 2003 are the US, UK, Australia and Poland. Not to be confused with the gulf war of 1990-1991 which included 42 countries against Iraq after they invade Kuwait.

This is the general hospitability of Middle Eastern or Muslim countries. Go watch some videos of Pakistan, Afghanistan etc. The people over there invite strangers/tourist to their homed etc. Something you would never see in western countries.

My feelings and thoughts are mixed while watching this video. The cities, streets and building shows the scars of past assaults and wars, people must have witnessed horrors. They like Murphy and penã
at 39:16 the exact translations are as follows between the guy holding the camera and the other person.
guy who took the camera: Do I give it to him or
Other guy: First, those people are tourists and their camera is small the same as a cellphone that's 1 and 2, this is the opposite of bad, they will show people our civilization and we should always give them a break.
What are their general feelings towards Americans?
