In the words of Patches O'Houliahn: "Necessary? Is it necessary for me to drink my own urine? No, but I do it anyway because it's sterile and I like the taste."
You win best comment!
I came here to watch Mark fly a drone and stayed to watch Mark fly a drone. You did not disappoint!
"Well organised ... spaniel", so funny, so seamless. I'm loving this, Mark.
Haha. I’m glad you’re enjoying it. I’ll keep of going!
Mark, I know you have voiced elsewhere that you are not fond of the VLOG format, but I am liking it. I especially enjoyed the real time design segment with the weight rack.
Awesome, thank you! And it’s not that I dislike the vlog format, it’s more that I can’t stand the word itself. I feel like I’m too old to use the word vlog. That’s for all the youths.
FYI. If you are making money off TH-cam you must be a Part 107 licensed Pilot with the FAA to fly a drone. Fines are $1,800.00 per violation. You must be registered on the Drone Zone FAA web site and Remote ID (RID) number listed for each drone. Drones must be marked with the registration number. Sub weight 250g drones do not require RID or registration. Someone cannot loan their registered drone to be flown by another person.
Man, life is way too complicated!
Well... I'm happy someone told Mark this, but at the same time... It's kinda depressing. 😕
@@GunflintDesigns I get it. You are out in the farmland nobody really knows. The problem is when you post on TH-cam. Been flying RC for 47 years. This whole Congress mandated drone thing has been a real sore spot for all. The bluetooth range on these RID units is so limited. Unless you are causing an issue with someone, it will never be an issue. Been following you for sometime. Hope you are doing well. Love your new place.
@@JDDupuy I really appreciate the info! I've been looking at one of the sub-weight drones specifically so can avoid having to deal with registration. But if I'm understanding you correctly, because the intent would be posting to TH-cam, that makes it commercial and then the weight is Irrelevant?
@@GunflintDesigns Correct. If the intent of the flight is anything other than recreational, then it falls under Part 107. Recording video for a non-profit organization (e.g. Church), flying to assist search and rescue, or recording video for a monetized TH-cam channel are all examples of non-recreational flights.
If you are flying just for the fun of it and later post the video to a non-monetized TH-cam channel, as I understand it, that would be permissible. However, as with any flight, you would need to ensure that your flight complies with the registration requirement if the drone is above 250g, that you have taken the Recreational UAS Safety Test or "TRUST" (it's free and super easy), that you do not fly in controlled airspace (there are many apps to help you with this), that you do not fly beyond visual line of sight (you the pilot, have to be able to visually see the drone at all times without any aid like binoculars), you do not fly over 400 feet above ground level, and you always must yield to manned aircraft. It sounds like a lot, but put into practice, it's really just a few things you need to keep in mind while flying.
Drone registration really is not an issue of particular significance and only takes a few minutes, the TRUST test only takes a few mins as well, and you can get your Part 107 in a couple/few weeks of dedicated study in the evenings.
I don't think you're the problem with that drone, I think the drone is the problem.
I appreciate the confidence in my ability. I think you are correct.
Mark, about drones, search for tiny whoops (to fly in FPV). They don't make good footage, at all, but they're fun as heck! And you have a great space there for those and micros in general. 😊
The regulations are a mess right now, because of flying things reported as drones in nuclear facilities... You know? But I honestly don't think the aliens are going to follow the rules. 😬
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I'll have to check that out!!
Man, Tyson is a fighter!
She's the crowd favorite bantam weight for sure!
You have a separate hunting channel? Please share name?
I thought I had it linked! Thanks for pointing that out. It’s Gunflint Outdoors. I haven’t put much on there lately, but I have big plans for it!
