I had a Gen 2 Hayabusa for 10 years and recently bought a low mileage 2019 H2 SX SE+ for my 80th birthday even though I had never seen one, such were the reports I'd read on TH-cam. This bike (without the radar on the 2022 model and without all that green paint!) is as amazing as this review highlights, It is very different to the Hayabusa, more comfortable and easier to ride in the twisties. I agree it's not suitable two-up ( which is a plus) and it has too many gizmo's ( set and forget) but it is great to ride fast in old age!

At 60 I just got the 2022 and am super impressed with its comfortable way of delivering sport bike handling and power. It’s not insane. It’s actually the perfect older dudes sport bike.

I am 72 years old and I have been riding since I was 16. I’ve had top-of-the-line Hondas, Kawasaki’s and BMWs and this is the bike that I have been waiting for. I have a 2020 and I consider to be perfect! It is what I always wanted it was never really available.

Got mine 4 weeks ago. A very competent bike. I just want to keep riding. When you get comfy with the acceleration and quickshifter it is like your own rocket. I take it to work monday through friday and on weekends I tear throught the landscape. 200 km to the relatives is like a Bill Burr show - you just keep smiling and laughing.
The only negative so far is the smart phone connectivity. It does its tricks but too few apps are in the system. This hopefully will improve.

I've had one since 2019. It is THE best way to cover distance quickly and comfortably but with real excitement and involvement. It’ll scratch on Alps passes with sports bikes, Vmax on autobahns with hyper bikes, cross continents while loaded with touring bikes and run around cities without fuss with the commuter bikes. Nothing else can do everything like this bike can.

I saw your report on kawa 1000SX and I bought it, and it was a pleasure to ride it this season. First bike after my licence. No problem at all to handle it. As you said first week in rain mode to understand the bike, then road, then sport mode. This is so incredible. I will take it to the track next season. (I'm in Canada).
Now, I saw this and I can't wait to buy it too :). The best of tech and power. To powerful for a first bike but now I can ride it.

I've got about 1700 miles on mine. Came from the 1000sx. I love everything about it. You were right about the speed being deceptive. I find myself thankful for those brembos often when i realize I'm going alot faster than I thought. Boost comes on hard between 5-6k rpm so I have to make sure I'm above that when I crack the throttle or I end up looking at the sky lol

Spot on review, I have a 2013 Ninja 1000 (SX) and my riding buddy has a 2018 Goldwing and a 2019 (I think) H2 SX SE + pre-radar equipped and your review is very accurate. Amazing bike, massive non-stop pull, super brakes, premium build quality, amazing gearbox and the semi active suspension makes it ride like it's on rails. The downside for me is how far forward you lean compared to my Ninja 1000 but in every other detail, amazing bike. I owned a 1999 ZX-12R and a fellow riding friend had a Hayabusa and now rides a 2017 Multistrada and he was amazed by the H2 as well......

If you get the older models18-20, make sure to cough up the extra and find a SX SE+ . The added electronics package is worth it. I have had my 20' for a year now and love it. Its not as fast as the ZX14R in a straight line (my son has a 14R), but when you hit the curve at the end of the straight away, the 14R is like driving something much much heavier. The SX SE has all the power, and brings back the fun of a sport bike again, with the comfort of a bigger bike.

It's impressive and both refreshing at the same time how open you are to a toy that totally doesn't fit your taste in simplicity and budget and yet you are still reviewing it for exactly what it is and not what you personally want it to be or not. I'm now in my 3rd season with this one and I can confirm you pretty much hit the nail on the head. If I had to add something then it would be the maintenance on this bike. While servicing it isn't particularly more or less expensive than other 1,000cc bikes, despite its rather bulletproof engine, this one eats tires for breakfast and it needs to be looked after by the rider quite a bit. Simple things like tensioning the chain require more tools than usual and shouldn't be performed underway. And then there is no top case available and it would look not good with one, so you're stuck with a tank bag or rear seat bag that both can't be locked. The key, while keyless go, still needs to be taken out for refueling and opening the cases. Oh, and speaking of fuel, it isn't really that much more thirsty than most other tourers when ridden on longer trips, but the tank is a little on the smaller side, so 200 miles is as much as you get comfortably. All in all its performance focus take away a little bit of its touring capabilities. None the less, I toured most of the southern european continent with it and it was not only absolutely beatiful and a true luxury to experience, it was also 100% reliable and very much accomodating with all the rider aids. You'll get to talk a lot with other bikers too, as eveyone heard about it but no one really seen it live. I've personally seen maybe another five H2 SX'S and they were all the previous models. And I ride mainly during high summer season on the most iconic Alpine roads, so this maybe one of the most rare models out there of all. Even my dealer says that they basically sell none of them.

I just bought the 2022 for my 60th birthday. I have owned a lot of bikes in my lifetime. Last 10 years I’ve been spoiling myself with owning best of category motorcycles and keep the garage full. I mention this because I am spoiled by the industry and developed a “meh” attitude towards all the bikes I own. A 2022 BMW RT… Meh it’s ok. Lol. But this bike I can’t stop gushing about. It is at home here in Mew England roads that twist and wind through rise and falling hills. The pavement isn’t always the best but the Showa Skyhook is absolutely the best stock suspension I have ever ridden. So compliant while remaining controlled. It’s that perfect balance of not too plush and not too jarring. The way this bike is planted in turns is the best surprise I got when riding it for the first time. Ya it’s fast. But it handles even better than expected. That weight helps it stay composed over bumpy turns as the suspension does its trick. Also holding its line like on rails. It reminds me of an old 2000 ZX-7 I once owned. It just holds its line and is planted mid corner. To me this is what transports you into a sublime state of satisfaction. That ease of pace this bike has. I wish I got the extended warranty. I think this is staying in the garage for a long time.

It's great to see Kawasaki's technological show piece, but I'd definitely go down market to the Ninja 1000 SX. Mostly to get a lighter bike. All my favorite rides have been under 500 pounds. I can go into the mid 500s on some really sophisticated bikes, but never would I be willing go to the high 500s.
I love a bike that will blast to 100 in seconds to pass a long line of cars, but I neither want or need to go over 120...off the track anyway. There's no public road I've ever seen that couldn't throw a fatal suprize at a vehicle going 120 or more. Too many Moose wanting to cross the road where I live.😬
There's just so many smart new twins or triples that fit that bill, weight 485 pounds and cost $10,000 to $15,000.😎

I bought a brand new 1998 ZX11 for $9500. I bought a brand new 2007 ZX14 for $9500 (dealer sale, normally would have been around $10,800 I believe). I currently ride a used but well cared for 08 Concours 14 which I bought 2 years ago for $5000. All three bikes were/are amazing. As much as I lust over the H2’s, I just can’t bring myself to spend $30k on a bike. If I buy a new bike, I’d buy another ZX14.

  • @felipedourado5721

I guess I may be asking a stupid question here but, considering that I always rode older and simpler bikes, I will take the risk and ask anway.
Of course such power, acceleration, rocket speeds and refinement must be a real thrill, besides the status it gives to its rider. But you kept saying that exactly by those atributes, it's good to have those eletronic sensors that may put the beast far from tamed, but tratable or, under control. Therefore, if I'm not wrong, it is like the eletronics are puting, somehow, itself betwin the rider and the machine. You also stated that it's good to see how a luxury gt bike (I think we may put that steed under that category) feels like. So, as a, let's say, "research tool" it's also a valid vehicle, if I understood everything well, and that is perfectly fine.
But (here goes the question) in real world and under real conditions (objectively and subjectively) a more "modest" and "pure" bike won't be more autentic on the feeling it provides? I mean, too much power (in every sense of the word) for normal roads can't be more disappointing than rewarding since the biker will be always using just a little fraction of the capabilities of the machine most of the time?
To me (of course I may be dead wrong here), as fun as a "monster bike" like this Kawasaki appears to be in the beginning, living with it for a long term relationship is like keeping a cannon to, mostly, kill an eventual fly on the wall, isn't it?
Share your thoughs about this subject in more depth, please, once it seems that such bike is much more a psicological affair, than a pure motorcycling affair. Neverthless, I'm well aware that such passional matter, as bikes, are always a subjective and, sometimes, controversial theme.
Thank you, peace from Brazil. ✌

Still having passed 60 a bike like that gets the hair on my arms to stand on end. Wow. Was lucky enough to try the first gen Hayabusa when it first came out, I was a sportsbike guy in those days and that was the bike for me that I could not and would not max out. It felt that ridiculous. I´ve always considered myself a Honda guy but somehow or other I´ve owned more Kawasakis than Hondas. Also currently on a Kawa, for the sixth? time. Well, why have a 200 hp bike on a public highway in the first place. Like you said, it's a toy. Maybe you want bragging rights. IDK. I'm looking for my first dream bike after 45 years of not being on one. I've been wanting an africa twin for the past 3 years. I still think it would be a great bike for me. The only thing is, I don't really know where I can find any trails other than dirt roads to ride on. Now I'm looking at sport touring bikes. I like the kawasaki 1000 sx. I'm going to go and look at one this weekend. At least I can sit on it and get a feel for the riding position. I'm 6'2 and weigh 285. Decisions, decisions.

Your fellow Canadian FortNine shares your humour, explaining motorcycle wheels and tires, i quote, "like homophobic men it desperately wants to go straight", Ryan is quite an eloquent dude.
Concerning the warp drive, a American postdoc PHD here in my town has been playing with Einstein's equations, he had plenty of time when the pandemic kept him unable to return home to the U.S.
He reduced the necessary energy expressed in mass to about the weight of Jupiter. PBS spaxetime featured Dr. Eric Lentz's work but the explanation were not really elaborated.
The physicist in Göttingen hosted an evening lecture and explained some of the Star Trek technology and which of that is realized by now. The inertia dampers will not be needed at all. Bending spacetime does not creste inertia, but I guess somebody will eventually have to find out.
The Romulan cloaking device is existent.....for infrared light only.
