To determine the liquid ounce volume of a rectangular mold space, multiply LxWxH in inches and multiply by .55 (so 55% of that number) and that is the volume, in liquid ounces, of mixed plaster you will need.
It is always a party when a new Tiki Technical Tuesday comes out! Please, recyclage that clay. Since you only use it for your molds a little bit of plaster in there isn't a problem. And it is easy: just spray some water over it and let it get soft again. I can't imagine having to drive for hours to buy clay. I hope a new store in your area will come soon.
A funnel that holds the volume in a wider cone, and not as high, would lessen the hydraulic pressure of the fluid column sitting above the mold. just two cents for that.
Indeed! I’m always looking at funnels - finding one with a wide spout and good opening is a challenge. These work well - it’s really the mold’s fault for the leaking.
Absolutely lovely design, I'll be standing in virtual line for it! And just picked up the starfish mug as a companion piece, love the back texture. I'm looking forward to future vids on the cassowary!
Excellent video like always. Spent my Christmas break watching all your videos! Would love to see a deep dive on how you decide the placement of the mold lines, sometimes they don’t make sense to me. 😊
Not an expert or anything, but what about using a different orientation? Same for the ocular bones, instead of a line stagger them, and they become their own registration marks as well?
Its been 5 long months since the last video. I'm glad for this one.
I know! It’s been too long. Hopefully I can find more time for videos in 2025 🤞
Yes! You're back!
It's going to be a crazy cool mug!
Thank you!
Lisa

I’ll think about recycling now for sure - clay has become a precious resource!
I came here last night to see if you made any new videos and was happily surprised today! See you in 5 months for part 2!
😂 the wait won’t be so awful for part 2! I promise!

As always, a great video! I had leaks in my last mold so thanks for showing that part on the starfish.

Thank you for watching the video collection! Mold line placement can seem mysterious to me sometimes as well!
I was thinking you wont return😢 Glad to see a new video!!
Sorry for the long delay! Hopefully 2025 has many more episodes
I love your videos. Will you be doing a start to finish series on the Starfish.
Thank you! I’m afraid I didn’t have time in the schedule to shoot the process of making the starfish mug
Do you dilute the murphys oil soap with water? Great Video, I love your channel! Your videos have helped me so much!
The release I’m using now is Pure Lube mold soap by Laguna Clay, and I don’t dilute it.
Thanks so much!
SEE!! Mohawks makes your voice cooler! lol
🤣

That could totally work!
