lamprichthys tanganicanus spawning

Lamprichthys tanganicanus (Tanganyika killifish) spawning. These guys are just amazing. You have to be at just the right angle to see the blue. One of them flashes the colors right at the end of the video.

What great colour that male flashes! Out of interest, how do you hatch the eggs of this species? Do you remove them on the spawning mops and do anything specific with them? Many thanks.

I use spawning mops and remove the eggs every few days. I have been meaning to put together a video of my process. I just need to stitch together a bunch of clips. I'll try to get something out soon.

Do you notice a tendency for the sex ratio to be skewed towards females? I have been getting maybe 1 to 2 males to to 10 females.

I actually have the opposite issue. More males than females. So I have started pulling some of the extra males out of the spawning tank and put them into a display tank.

What size tank do you recommend for a group of 4

For temperament and tank size, you can think of them sort of like larger rainbowfish. They can get 4 inches and are really fast swimmers, so I would not really do anything smaller than a 40 breeder for adults.
