I think that gyutaro is stronger than these two upper rank that's why uzui and entertainment district arc is more tense but its just that daki's holding his power back, like muzan said the more humanity left to the demons the weak they gets thats why gyutaro can't get to top 5 despite of overwhelming potential

One of my favorite things about Mitsuri is that she doesn’t have a tragic demon-filled backstory. She was an outcast to anyone outside her family and instead of conforming she sought out people who would value her for who she was. She managed to maintain her identity and found a home in the corps. And sure she’s silly, but she isn’t delusional. She understands what she’s doing is dangerous and she could die any day. But when presented with the option to stay with her happy family or hunt demons she chooses the latter because it’s the right thing to do.
I’d say this season definitely has a different focus. Kind of world building, characters development, and peaking the audience’s interest with the demon marks.
So to answer why the trees are bleeding, all blood demons arts are formed from the demons rapidly generating and morphing theur bodies into their desired weapons. So the fish from Gyokko are his body changed into poisonous fish, the wood dragons are Zanhakuten's body. Hence the name blood demon art.

Power difference means alot too. Akaza vs Rengoku felt alot more one sided. Physically, Akaza was too powerful for Tanjiro and co to jump in which meant Rengoku had to take him on alone, no mark. Honestly, even with mark it wouldve not changed anything. Akaza was simply far too powerful. If he didnt want to change Rengoku into a demon, the fight would not last very long.
@@DisneyBar Oh yeah that too. Tengen had to deal with Gyutaro basically on his own too, no mark. Tanjiro wasnt as strong before. Nezuko wasnt there. The other two was busy fighting Daki. And lets be honest, Mitsuri wouldve been dead if the others didnt save her when she got face palmed by that screech. Tokito was also dead if Koutaro didnt save him from that water prison jutsu. So in technicality...they all lost 1v1 before the marks even came out.
Fun fanct, kocho (Insect Hashira) and Kanroji had a talk about their backstories once. Kanroji went first. and when she then heard kochos backstory, she felt really bad for not having gone through such misery. She couldnt look the other hashira in the eyes anymore, ate way less, and couldnt keep her head in the game. To the point where fodder demons made her bleed. It was Obanai (serpent Hashira) who noticed, and consulted kocho about. Kocho summoned her to the butterfly estate and they had a talk, and hugged it out. Kanroji was told that she is valid even if her backstory isnt hardcore. :)

This is what you guys missed and it's also simple. It was mentioned briefly but I think you guys didn't remember it. She actually meant what she said to Tanjiro when he asked "Why did you join the demon slayer corps?" and she replied she was looking for someone to marry. Instead of her conforming to pretend that she's weaker than she is, dyeing her natural hair color to black and hiding her true self. She became a demon slayer to meet someone stronger than her and would love her the way she is (ultimately pertaining to the hashiras, which are the strongest by the books that time.). It fits her a bit too cheery of a character because she doesn't have the most tragic-demon based origin story, which also represents the part of the society that has nothing or has no experience in facing demons. It would look to shallow or simple but even if that was her goal, she didn't hold back or focused just that, because she also found out the useful thing about her unusual strength and how it is there for a reason: To protect her loved ones and the innocent people against demon. I love demon slayer for what it is. It didn't have a filler and unnecessary scene that would like weirdly elongate the character developments for it to emphasize how much stronger they become. So when I finished the manga I was like pleasantly surprised how it's very on the nose even with the time skips and it's only one of the few animes that do feel like the MC actually showed that they needed help and not the strongest from the get-go or not even the strongest at all. But that's me, we all have our preferences. I'm not disagreeing with the reactors at all.
Also facts to consider. The hashira/ main trio have SIGNIFICANTLY improved since entertainment arc. Like tanjiro now might not be able to solo Upper 6 but he is much better than he was. Also just wait for final arc because I agree this arc felt easy/ noone really died compared to entertainment/ other arcs.

The thing the hashira and tanjiro got are called a slayer marks. The mark is awakened whenever the slayer reaches the right requirements and the mark greatly boost their attributes as seen by Muichiro and Mitsuri
So, I can understand why a lot of people think this arc isn't as problamatic as other seasons. And you kinda nailed it, they ARE all getting much much better in terms of abilities and personal growth. Now... they've announced that S4 has been greenlit, and after the first little arc (probably 3-4 episodes at most), it's going to go into the second to last arc, which will be completely all out war and fighting. These fights are kind of a little build up. Now just to wait a year.... 😅
I’ve always thought the marks are symbols of human potential. A mark you get when you reach your peek. The demons think it’s an evil mark cause they cheated they’re way to the peek through science (musan healed by doctor) and not hard work.
She’s Samurai Sailor Moon. Fun fact; Love breathing is derived from Fire Breathing. She was trained by Kyojuro Rengoku in fire breathing but was to constrictive for her, so she adapted it. Also only she can wield her sword.
I get why Micky would say that but if you look back, Gyutaro and Daki are fighters hence that arc was intensely insane as it levels the field with Uzui and the trios. This arc, the uppermoon doesn’t fight with swords or sickles, but with blood demon art. I guess you can call it magic or sorcery so they don’t really sweat it out and may seem weak or lame fight for some. But it is difficult for the demon slayers though it doesnt look as cool as fighting Gyutaro, because they don’t have blood demon art, they are sword fighters. Plus, yes, Tanjiro grew stronger. But yeah the final arc is twice as intense, desperate and tragic as the Entertainment District arc.
Hello Normies, I agree with micky about not being desparate enough, but this was only one episode. Throughout the arc if you see both Muichiro and Tanjiro struggled a lot. Desparation and injuries. It is just mitsuri who is without a major injury. As for Genya he is healing otherwise he would have been dead from the beginning so consider the whole episodes when you consider an arc. You guys forget easily cuz u r Norms but watch ur ownreactions once more before the finale of this arc to refresh ur memory capsules pls.
In Japan dyed hair is looked down upon. I know its associated with delinquency and students arent allowed/supposed to have dyed hair at school. Hence stuff like Ichigo being told to dye his hair black as his orange hair appears to be dyed when really it's natural. Mitsuri not only has her bright pink hair. But also is loud, bousterous, eats a lot and is super strong. Which goes against the societal norms expected of a woman. Making her someone who found it hard to get married because those were seen as downsides to just men of the day looking for a wife. (Meanwhile Iguro has tatse)
the reason why it seems like they are stronger bc they got those marks. as said the demon slayer marks (i dont want to spoil or much but) the marks they get make them much stronger than they are. thats how muichiro was able to kill gyokko so easily like when he said (who said you was the only one not at full power) or wtv he said. they will get to the marks probably next season maybe idk
Yea for sure they've handled upper 4 and 5 much better than upper 6 since they got way stronger now especially with the awakening of the marks. You have to wait for the future BIG ARC to be animated. You're in for a ride :>
Tengen is weaker than both Muichiro and Mitsuri especially that they awakened the mark. Thats why they can stand equal terms with the upper 4th and 5th moons

Demon Slayer has an insane amount of substance, y'all are confusing complexity with substance, but those are two completely unrelated things. Demon Slayer is a simple story with an absolute ton of depth and substance.

I definitely get Micky, but Chris is right the characters are getting stronger. Remember this takes place months after the fight with Upper Moon 6. Tanjiro is very experienced at this point. Also we’re pared with much stronger hashira. Not only were they already stronger than tengen but they also awakened marks gaining a significant boost which Uzui didn’t.

The marks are demon slayer marks, and they manifest when person reaches a hyper level...Mitsuri mark was two hearts...Muichiro mark looks like a cloud, they look like the welders style!! Tanjiros looks like a flame off the sun.
Their marks are symbols of their breathing...Tanjiro's look like sun rays, tokito's look like clouds/mist, and kanroji's marks are heart shaps that form a flower/clover.
Mitsuri is the best one to go against this Upper Moon because this one is the embodiment of hate. Mitsuri wields Love Breathing which is the opposite of hate. :) Also not a lot of people are grasping that her sword technique is strong and fast enough to neutralize sound and lighting.
For the Hot Take: Chris is right- they did grow. Muichiro himself is one of the strongest Hashira, and he even stated to UM5 he wasn’t taking him seriously. For the Hantengu fight they were definitely getting their butts beat at first, but they kinda just grew as the fight went on. For the whole Gyutaro fight they were far less experienced than what they were here. It also doesn’t help the fact that Tengen is the 2nd weakest Hashira, which is why it led to such a climactic end as it was a battle of endurance.(not to discredit Tengen Uzui fans -_-)
As I may have mentioned on one of your "Bleach" reactions: There is indeed a great deal of pressure on Japanese people to conform to societal norms, even today. A few schools and school boards have recently been in the news for requiring students with natural non-black hair to dye it black. Individuality can be frowned upon, to the point that there's a proverb in Japanese which roughly means, "The nail that sticks up gets hammered down." And even in modern times, examples of chauvinism and sexism abound in Japanese society, with various expectations for women to have a certain temperament and behave in certain ways. You can bet it was even worse in the Taisho Era. So, heartbreaking as it is, it's hardly a surprise to see someone as unique as Mitsuri trying to hide what makes her special. But it's also great that her family is so supportive, and that she's found a place where she belongs. I see what you mean about the stakes feeling lower than in the final battle for last season, but I see how this story is different from that, too. Also, please keep in mind that the full story has yet to be told. Muichiro got poisoned badly in his fight with Gyokko, and he's not out of the woods yet. Tanjiro and his group are all in rough shape and Mitsuri, while very strong, is facing an extremely tough opponent. Furthermore, the final episode will be a full 70 minutes long, so there's a lot of story still to come. Who knows what will happen? Thanks for a great reaction!

I had two double check who does the soundtrack for demon slayer was because i forgot one of the main composers was Yuki Kajiura. She was for sure pulling from some musical motifs she used when she was working on Puella Magi Madoka Magica, especially every time Mitsuri came on screen. I would kill to get the normies reacting to Madoka Magica, I think it'd blow them away, at least to me, it's a classic on par with Attack on Titan.
Of all Hashiras, only Mitsuri Kanroji has a happy and loving (alive so far😅) family. She decided to join the Demon Slayer Corp cause she found the purpose of her strength - to protect and to love. ❤

It is maybe not yet understood, or people just forget certain statements. But the strength between the Hashira, and between the upper ranks is massively different from one to another. Tengen was pretty much the weakest of the Hashira, he was a ninja, not meant to fight as well as the others, that is why he struggled so much in his fight against Gyutaro (the weakest of the upper ranks), and Rengoku even though he was much stronger than Tengen, he was still weaker than most of the other Hashiras, and he was also fighting the rank 3 of the demons, who is several times stronger than the upper ranks below him (and at the same time much weaker than the two above him). In the anime we are in the sweet spot when the Hashira's on screen are just that much more powerful than the upper ranks they are fighting. Once we enter the last two arcs we'll see the strongest Hashira either sacrificing themselves or having to fight in pairs (or more) just to defeat one demon.
One thing about This season yea they are upper moon demons but the marks are introduce which makes them extremely powerful against the upper moons and also they r not dying and this is not the last time we gonna see them so there’s more to come for them
Im the case of rengoku and uzui fight that’s was the last time we will see them fight and I think that made them hold back because making everything so breathtaking is gonna make the end just look normal yk

i am curious to know why Kanao is "sight" unless you're autofilling. is it because she didn't used to talk or do anything and had to rely on "seeing" the coin flip result to make a decision? or is it more in line with her unreleased breathing technique? What i CAN add to you btw is that Nezuko is the 6th sense which isn't really well known, called "Proprioception", which is the ability to keep track of where our body parts are in space.... sounds familiar ? ;)
I think Mitsuri is the only one that didn't have death iner backstory. Lol. The Master just knows what to say to each hashria. It makes sense why they respect him. I wish we knew how she found out about the demon slayer.
Demon Slayer is more like an Asian folklore than a Shounen, I think that is one of the reasons it got so popular in Asia. And is a short story that goes directly to the point, while other shounens are very very long(Boruto is a thing, Bleach is probably going to get a sequel, etc) and because they are long, they have to always keep introducing a new group of bad guys. Another thing is that Demon Slayer wants you to understand about the morals about being human, your weakness, yours Family bonds and the strength of Passing the tourch to the next generation, that has a strong connection with Asian countries. These series has strong Buddhist influence: Like, this series clearly wants to focus on the spiritual ideas of reincarnation and it's cycle. It's not JUST that they remember their lives when they're about to die, it's that they are returning to a mortal form. They are being reconnected to the cycle of life that Muzan took them out of. That's why they regain their human memories at that time, because their soul is being brought back into the fold. And in that moment, most of them willingly go back to the cycle and enter the hell worlds they belong in so they can atone and have their soul cleansed. Another thing is that every time people are in a life of death situation they can communicate with the spirits of their death families.
People underestimate the depth of demon slayer. Getting bleach is bad after soulsociety flashbacks with so many overlooking depth cause a show doesn’t spell it out.
I have to wholeheartedly disagree with you guys about Demon Slayer's story not having layers. The fact that you're still asking questions about certain aspects of the story as well as having a better opinion of certain characters than you originally had prior shows that it is very much giving you a bit of substance. I feel like the problem you guys have is the way in which Demon Slayer tells its story. Unlike most shows that'd have several episodes to flesh out characters prior to and after the battles, Demon Slayer plants seeds for a couple of episodes at the beginning and end of their arcs and disperse information and revelations within the battles themselves. Not everyone's favorite writing style, but to each their own.
Tengen is the second weakest Hashira. Muichiro is one of the strongest. Mitsuri is in the middle and 4th Upper Moon is also in the middle. Also, the marks are power-buff. Tengen never got his.

I get why Micky would say that but if you look back, Gyutaro and Daki are fighters hence that arc was intensely insane as it levels the field with Uzui and the trios. This arc, the uppermoon doesn’t fight with swords or sickles, but with blood demon art. I guess you can call it magic or sorcery so they don’t really sweat it out and may seem weak or lame fight for some. But it is difficult for the demon slayers though it doesnt look as cool as fighting Gyutaro, because they don’t have blood demon art, they are sword fighters. Plus, yes, Tanjiro grew stronger.
But yeah the final arc is twice as intense, desperate and tragic as the Entertainment District arc.

I agree with micky about not being desparate enough, but this was only one episode. Throughout the arc if you see both Muichiro and Tanjiro struggled a lot. Desparation and injuries. It is just mitsuri who is without a major injury. As for Genya he is healing otherwise he would have been dead from the beginning so consider the whole episodes when you consider an arc. You guys forget easily cuz u r Norms but watch ur ownreactions once more before the finale of this arc to refresh ur memory capsules pls.

In Japan dyed hair is looked down upon. I know its associated with delinquency and students arent allowed/supposed to have dyed hair at school. Hence stuff like Ichigo being told to dye his hair black as his orange hair appears to be dyed when really it's natural. Mitsuri not only has her bright pink hair. But also is loud, bousterous, eats a lot and is super strong. Which goes against the societal norms expected of a woman. Making her someone who found it hard to get married because those were seen as downsides to just men of the day looking for a wife. (Meanwhile Iguro has tatse)
the reason why it seems like they are stronger bc they got those marks. as said the demon slayer marks (i dont want to spoil or much but) the marks they get make them much stronger than they are. thats how muichiro was able to kill gyokko so easily like when he said (who said you was the only one not at full power) or wtv he said. they will get to the marks probably next season maybe idk

I definitely get Micky, but Chris is right the characters are getting stronger. Remember this takes place months after the fight with Upper Moon 6. Tanjiro is very experienced at this point. Also we’re pared with much stronger hashira. Not only were they already stronger than tengen but they also awakened marks gaining a significant boost which Uzui didn’t.
Also, Tanjiro trained against the Yoriichi mechanical doll.

The marks are demon slayer marks, and they manifest when person reaches a hyper level...Mitsuri mark was two hearts...Muichiro mark looks like a cloud, they look like the welders style!! Tanjiros looks like a flame off the sun.
Their marks are symbols of their breathing...Tanjiro's look like sun rays, tokito's look like clouds/mist, and kanroji's marks are heart shaps that form a flower/clover.

For the Hot Take: Chris is right- they did grow. Muichiro himself is one of the strongest Hashira, and he even stated to UM5 he wasn’t taking him seriously. For the Hantengu fight they were definitely getting their butts beat at first, but they kinda just grew as the fight went on. For the whole Gyutaro fight they were far less experienced than what they were here. It also doesn’t help the fact that Tengen is the 2nd weakest Hashira, which is why it led to such a climactic end as it was a battle of endurance.(not to discredit Tengen Uzui fans -_-)

As I may have mentioned on one of your "Bleach" reactions: There is indeed a great deal of pressure on Japanese people to conform to societal norms, even today. A few schools and school boards have recently been in the news for requiring students with natural non-black hair to dye it black. Individuality can be frowned upon, to the point that there's a proverb in Japanese which roughly means, "The nail that sticks up gets hammered down."
And even in modern times, examples of chauvinism and sexism abound in Japanese society, with various expectations for women to have a certain temperament and behave in certain ways. You can bet it was even worse in the Taisho Era. So, heartbreaking as it is, it's hardly a surprise to see someone as unique as Mitsuri trying to hide what makes her special. But it's also great that her family is so supportive, and that she's found a place where she belongs.
I see what you mean about the stakes feeling lower than in the final battle for last season, but I see how this story is different from that, too. Also, please keep in mind that the full story has yet to be told. Muichiro got poisoned badly in his fight with Gyokko, and he's not out of the woods yet. Tanjiro and his group are all in rough shape and Mitsuri, while very strong, is facing an extremely tough opponent. Furthermore, the final episode will be a full 70 minutes long, so there's a lot of story still to come. Who knows what will happen?

I had two double check who does the soundtrack for demon slayer was because i forgot one of the main composers was Yuki Kajiura. She was for sure pulling from some musical motifs she used when she was working on Puella Magi Madoka Magica, especially every time Mitsuri came on screen. I would kill to get the normies reacting to Madoka Magica, I think it'd blow them away, at least to me, it's a classic on par with Attack on Titan.
Of all Hashiras, only Mitsuri Kanroji has a happy and loving (alive so far😅) family. She decided to join the Demon Slayer Corp cause she found the purpose of her strength - to protect and to love. ❤

I think that gyutaro is stronger than these two upper rank that's why uzui and entertainment district arc is more tense but its just that daki's holding his power back, like muzan said the more humanity left to the demons the weak they gets thats why gyutaro can't get to top 5 despite of overwhelming potential

It is maybe not yet understood, or people just forget certain statements. But the strength between the Hashira, and between the upper ranks is massively different from one to another. Tengen was pretty much the weakest of the Hashira, he was a ninja, not meant to fight as well as the others, that is why he struggled so much in his fight against Gyutaro (the weakest of the upper ranks), and Rengoku even though he was much stronger than Tengen, he was still weaker than most of the other Hashiras, and he was also fighting the rank 3 of the demons, who is several times stronger than the upper ranks below him (and at the same time much weaker than the two above him).
In the anime we are in the sweet spot when the Hashira's on screen are just that much more powerful than the upper ranks they are fighting. Once we enter the last two arcs we'll see the strongest Hashira either sacrificing themselves or having to fight in pairs (or more) just to defeat one demon.
besides, in this arc the Hashira are re-discovering a forgotten strength (the marks on their bodies), so they are even better than their usual selves.
rengoku is not stronger than tengen. tengen is top 3, base.

Demon Slayer is more like an Asian folklore than a Shounen, I think that is one of the reasons it got so popular in Asia.
And is a short story that goes directly to the point, while other shounens are very very long(Boruto is a thing, Bleach is probably going to get a sequel, etc) and because they are long, they have to always keep introducing a new group of bad guys.
Another thing is that Demon Slayer wants you to understand about the morals about being human, your weakness, yours Family bonds and the strength of Passing the tourch to the next generation, that has a strong connection with Asian countries.

It's not JUST that they remember their lives when they're about to die, it's that they are returning to a mortal form. They are being reconnected to the cycle of life that Muzan took them out of.
That's why they regain their human memories at that time, because their soul is being brought back into the fold. And in that moment, most of them willingly go back to the cycle and enter the hell worlds they belong in so they can atone and have their soul cleansed.
Another thing is that every time people are in a life of death situation they can communicate with the spirits of their death families.

People underestimate the depth of demon slayer. Getting bleach is bad after soulsociety flashbacks with so many overlooking depth cause a show doesn’t spell it out.
I have to wholeheartedly disagree with you guys about Demon Slayer's story not having layers. The fact that you're still asking questions about certain aspects of the story as well as having a better opinion of certain characters than you originally had prior shows that it is very much giving you a bit of substance.
I feel like the problem you guys have is the way in which Demon Slayer tells its story. Unlike most shows that'd have several episodes to flesh out characters prior to and after the battles, Demon Slayer plants seeds for a couple of episodes at the beginning and end of their arcs and disperse information and revelations within the battles themselves. Not everyone's favorite writing style, but to each their own.
Tengen is the second weakest Hashira. Muichiro is one of the strongest. Mitsuri is in the middle and 4th Upper Moon is also in the middle. Also, the marks are power-buff. Tengen never got his.
