I honestly think that BECAUSE they are so hyper-specific, it would be really fun to have an episode dedicated to getting several vastly different cocktails out of these syrups. It might not be useful for regular bartending, but for the individual? I think it would be cool!

    • @TheRealMcCoyRum
      @TheRealMcCoyRum 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

True! And also "Kid McCoy," the savvy boxer, and Prohibition's gentleman rumrunner, Cpt. Bill McCoy, who was known for never adulterating his rum. Speakeasy patrons up & down the East Coast knew to ask for "The Real McCoy" to avoid the "booze" and "hooch" which might have anything from water & prune juice to turpentine added. 😬 Always go for the real deal. ;)

Hey Greg, just wanted to thank you for all the quality content. I found your channel right after turning 21 a few years ago. I worked as a cook in a higher-end restaurant at the time and between you and the bartenders I worked with I learned to appreciate alcohol for more than it's get-you-drunk potential.
I just turned 25 and am still impressing my friends with quality old-fashions and rum-flavored crème brulees. I've learned a lot from you and have even bought several of your reading suggestions, such as "Liquid Intelligence". You've helped me learn how to truly appreciate alcohol and have even helped me develop my palate.
I have a recipe with my name on it at a restaurant I used to work at, I built that recipe using knowledge you helped me gain. So THANK YOU, I cannot truly express my gratitude beyond that. I hope you, your family and everyone else in your life is doing well.

Hey I got ya on that liber co. Been using em for awhile cause you got me into this whole cocktail thing.
    1. Rainbow sherbert sour- Hendricks og, lime juice, liber blood orange, egg white (shaken). Bitters like raspberry or something if you want a little complexity.
    2. Key lime pie- Pilar blonde rum, lime juice, liber orgeat, egg white.
Bonus drink (my favorite) -- Bourbon amaretto sour: 1:1 favorite cask strength Bourbon (the funkier the better imo): lazzaroni peach, with pure cane or light brown simple syrup, lemon juice, and egg white. Peach bitters.
I like sours if it's not already apparent. I feel like the egg whites can represent a merengue or sherbert amazingly. And using gins and rums in what i consider sours, but may be classified differently, along with the liber type flavored syrups can make a simple drink complex in all the best ways. Careful with the sweetness however.

That Liber & Co Old Fashioned syrup is legit! I do add another dash of bitters to mine, but with that syrup I can be super lazy and make INCREDIBLE Old Fashions. Their Fiery Ginger Syrup is also baller!

Funny that you got dark fruit cake from that Rum cocktail...I get xmas pudding from mixing OVD dark rum with coke. I think those syrups are really for those occasions when you wanna have a subtle different twist on a regular cocktail without changing up the ingredients so much.

I’m gonna have to keep my eye out for the Liber & Co things. Don’t get much in that way (or liquor for that matter) up in Canada.
I’ve actually made a stout beer syrup that I used for a St Paddy’s day inspired cocktail that one oerson ordered at my old work. Lol.

so I got a bottle of mezcal recently, and have been messing around with a few different directions to take it, because yes it is a very powerful flavor, but this one is my current favorite:
    2 oz mexcal
    1 oz lime
    1/4 oz peach schnapps
    1/2 oz simple syrup
    1/2 oz campari
    optional egg white
top with club soda and garnish with an orange twist.

I’m so glad I got to see your opinion on xicaru. I work with RDNC and that stuff flys out of our warehouse. Another spirit you need to look out for is woodford reserve rye to me it almost has a mint back note to it that almost reminds me of a good mint tea 🤤
