- In this Bass Fishing Challenge I take you guys with me to Dicks Sporting Goods with a budget of $20! Rod/Reel, Line, Lures, etc had to be purchased all within the $20 budget. We then take our new gear out to test it in the waters and see if we can catch some fish!
Again, I want to thank each and every one of you for the support! We just passed 12,600! I'm having so much fun making these videos, lets keep this rolling! Don't forget to let me know what lures you guys would like to see me use in future videos!

Start with a good Shakespeare kit rod and use the good ol fashioned hook and sinker rig with night crawlers. Never fails to catch fish
I just started and the easiest way is to get to know local people and get them to help you get some good ones.

I love the dock demon. Believe it or not, the line that comes with it isn’t too bad. I got the new dock demon with the cork handle and have caught big bass and nice panfish on it. Which is so fun!

One of the favorite poles I own I keep in the car as my "beater" pole. I spent $17 on it at Walmart and I've landed some great fish with it. It's great to know you don't always have to break the bank to pull some fish out of the water

One thing I have come to realize over the years is that people tend to go way overboard when it comes to rods, reels. lines, bait etc etc. You can probably catch fish the whole day long with a stick and floss.

That rod was the first rod I’ve ever owned, I only upgraded when I was like 11 or 12, but man for small trout in creeks and bluegill in ponds, holy cow it was so good!

Noah Weigert it's really good and they have it at Walmart for 40 bucks. If you want to get bait caster the ugly stik elite is a good rod I have been using for a couple months and no problems

I use the Shakespeare dock runner which is exactly the same as the zebco, but it seemed a little bit higher quality. It’s really nice because I have to ride my bike to the river so I just throw it in my backpack and take off. It’s definitely not better than a full size, but for taking them on bikes, or putting them in your backpack it’s pretty good.

If you have it where you are you should get your gear at West Marine only because it will be a challenge because there is usually a small selection of bad stuff and a bigger selection of Saltwater!

The West Marine we have in delaware has ZERO fishing rods. Its mostly some Gulp saltwater baits and just clothing
The one near me in Cali has some decent stuff actually. Not much but they have a couple off brand senkos, z man chatterbaits and decent combos

That "sketchy spot" the one with the little white house and pool club is my spot!! I pulled a 5-6lb bass out of there saturday. Endless bluegill. I spotted a carp and a catfish too.

FinalDestination many companies will say that an item is wayyy more expensive than it is, and then say it’s for sale for the actual price they want. It makes you think your getting a super high quality item for a steal, and it’s legal.
Now I know you didn’t have much to work with there, in terms of tackle, but a quick tip for the worms. They will look so unnatural hooked in the middle of their bodies like that. Hook them through the head to get a more natural movement in the water as you wind them back and you should get more bites especially if twitched back.
Whenever I visit the States from the UK it never ceases to amaze me just how your fishing, and ours, differs. I know we fish for different species but even still. You guys are all about lure fishing. Sure, we have lure fishing here too for our predator speces like pike, but on the whole we mainly fish with bait, or fly fishing.
We’re also much more subtle using lighter lines and much smaller hooks and you’d be amazed how big fish can be caught with really small hooks (we use them without barbs too). All this makes a massive difference to catch rates.
Anyhow, still enjoyed the vid mate.

That 2nd pond can be fire in the morning on buzzbaits. I know an AWESOME pond around that area if you ever want to fish it we can meet up.

I’ve tied line to a stick and pulled out buckets of fish before. If you’re new or just a casual Fisher than there’s no need to over complicate it and spend $100 + in fishing equipment

My first rod was a dock demon spincaster. I fished the bearings out of that thing.
My wife and I fish with dock demons all the time. Great little rods. Always in the car
When you keep feeling when there's no line going in, you're just twisting the line and you'll get some awful birds nests after a while 😂
My son caught a 24" channel cat off a dock at Lake Arthur with a Dock Demon. It was great. Took him a good 5 minutes to land it.
The big bite minnows actually work for me, I have a couple of jigs that they work on, have caught a decent amount of bass in my area because of them.
Thanks for the heads up on the Dock Demon online price discrepancy I grabbed 2 of them from my local store today. They're perfect rods for leaving in the vehicle incase you want to sink a few baits during your lunch hour or on your ride home.
Those wacky rig hooks you got. I've used them, unfortunately The weed guard prevents a solid hookup. They do serve their purpose though

I put a Zebco ZSE20 on my dock demon. I plan on putting 12lb test on it later. i also carry 20 and 30lb with me just in case. paid $9.99 for the rod and the same price for the new reel and I still have the unused reel that came with the dock demon as a back-up. nice to see a local on youtube. i'm in Salisbury,MD. I also use some Shakespeare LXSP46 extendable rods with micro reels. they fit inside my tackle box.

I use the same rod and reel combo just change the line to a light braid rated for 10 to 16 lbs. love using mine for small ponds and heavy brush lined areas.

Just found your channel through The Survival Podcast. I'm from Delaware too so it's cool to discover you. The first place you were fishing (with the hobo) I pass every day while driving to work. My aunt lives in the neighborhood next to the second pond you were at and I used to fish there when I was a kid lol. Awesome stuff.
You should make a video where you use all big things like a huge rod and reel, a net, baits, etc and try to catch something in a small pond or lake or something around those means

Quick tip. Buy eagle claw 1/0 pre snelled bait hooks for $1.89 and cut the pre tied leader. Walah wacky hooks.
You were close only two pounds off, most dock demons are strung with 6-7 pound test string but the rod can hold up to alot more.

If the fish are biting near the banks then you can even catch them with a stick and a few feet of line. Even the most basic fishing pole can allow you to catch "some" kind of fish. I also remember sometimes needing another line so I would find an empty water or soda bottle and wrapping up some fishing line to that. The rest of the line is crafted just like you would normally do on a fishing pole, with whatever kinds of hooks, sinkers, floats, that you wanted, and then toss in the line while holding onto the bottle (or place it on a stick upside down where the stick goes inside the bottle to hold it). This is designed to be tossed just a few feet from the shore or maybe dropped from some object over the water, not thrown tens of feet into the body of water like you would do with some fishing poles.
But I like your challenges to show that for an afternoon of fun, we don't need to invest in too much expensive fishing gear.
I notice that too with dragon flies, they love to run into your line and sit on your pole

I have the push button dock demon and I love it. I use it for bait fish while i have my full size pole out for larger fish
