So funny and amazing to see: the famous Gill Clark, Carlton and Wilson rackets (?), forehand service, more finesse and lack of jump smashes what we nowadays see, the great badminton 80s hotpants :D
Regarding the rackets used in this match. Perry and Gilliland were using Carlton 3.7S's. These were an aluminium head with a carbon shaft. Khilstrom was using an ISI (unknown type) and Clark was using an Emerik, which I think was one of the first one piece frames you could buy back then. String tensions would have been a maximum of 12 to 13 pounds "cat gut" which was preferred by top players back then as nylon strings were not as consistent as they are now.
Great to see Nora Perry playing. Incredible blocks at the net/half-court to change the attack. Also good to see Thomas Khilstrom again: a great tactician. Yesterday's games may lack the power of today's contests, but it is great to watch the tactics and see the players working the spaces.
Wow.. that's the famous BWF Commentator Gillian Clark? Good to see her playing :) Ohh, that old-racket-cover.. and players coming to court with multiple-rackets... Thanks for the rare video..
oh my gosh... gillian is stunning... this is my first time see how good she is playing badminton, now she is a legend.. i love her... love from indonesia..
Rackets sounded very different, back then. 😅 I wonder what they would think if you handed them a racket from 2020. My own dad thinks 28lbs is a ridiculous tension. Also, I haven’t heard “second serve” in ages! 😧

Billy was my coach in 2000 and he could still compete with top level players in Canada.
Great coach.
I already got all old model Yonex badminton rackets...... now waiting for one more.
Are there more clips of maestro Kihlström?
Gillian Clarke on watching her own games be like: “Oh, my goodness!”
Can anyone explain the make/model/specs of the racquets they were using in 1985? Racquet weight? Materials they're made from? String tensions? etc...
Google it
Did not knowMartin Tyler did badminton commentaries!

Greysia Polii bisa belajar dari pemain pemain ini supaya Forehand serve-nya bisa tipis-tipis di atas net dan gak out

More faults but interesting
