HI UHM? APPARENTLY I HAVE BEEN MISLED IM STILL PLAYING CAFE ENCHANTE AND MY FRIENDS JUST MESSAGED ME AFTER WATCHING THIS VIDEO WITH “are u sure its fluffy lol” AND “wait and see” SO IM JUST?? IN DISTRESS SEND HELP
to think i was gonna be like “4/5 games in this list made me cry” watch it end up being 5/5 😭😭
edit: some people are questioning me saying “not having the brain cells for a farming game” then including fe3h. i stand by what i said. i don’t have the brain capacity for farming games. they don’t interest me, so they take more effort for me to play because i have to actively force myself to get through them, thus they burn me out more than comfort me.

Probably because it can help us connect to our feelings and help us sympathize with others when playing games with heavily emotional premises. Games that can successfully bring out emotion in us i think helps invoke a sense of some kind of sympathy for both ourself and others. Because we can see the struggles the characters go through and better understand people who go through similar things. Or can even have someone to relate to with such characters. especially when feeling like you're all alone.

Fun Fact: In literary sciences this is called catharsis. Even back in Shakespeare's times his plays were made to invoke some kind of catharsis because viewers would go to the theatre to just let their feelings out and feel intense emotions in a kind of cleansing way. There were comedic and tragic catharsis, whose functions I'm sure you can tell from their names. I know all of this isn't really relevant to your comment but you reminded me of that fact and I personally find it interesting so maybe someone who reads this will get some enjoyment from it as well. :)

They were not bad games, but in comparison they weren't as good storywise. The Layton series itself is excellent and very special though, and the puzzles are always fun, so definitely try to play more!
Oh yeah there's also the crossover game with Ace Attorney. I liked that one.
If you like visual novels, especially sad ones, Ace Attorney is also an excellent series, particularly the first 3. I encourage you to try them on your own, but don't expect anything terribly meaningful... it's fantastic for fanservice for your old favorite characters though, I admit.

I disagree and I'm only saying this because other people may see your comment and purchase it from the overwhelmingly positive reviews without knowing any of its drawbacks.
The game is cheap and therefore lacks content. Twelve dollars won't get you much and understandably so. The premise of the game is to meet everyone in town, complete 3 requests for each person, and that's more or less where the story ends. Additionally, you can find animals all around the map and have them reside in your café or add them to your party to follow you around. I personally found that each character was not discernible from one another personality-wise which was very disappointing. They all were very watered down, kind and quirky people but with nothing particularly unique in their dialogue. The UI isn't the best, the mechanics for some things could be better like for buying the furniture or decorating the café. It's also very, very buggy but many say that adds to its charm. I enjoy story oriented games like that, or at the very least a game I can really feel immersed in to take my mind off of real world affairs. I couldn't do that with Calico because of how lackluster the characters were. I wish the game was more expensive and had more content; it only took me 10 hours to finish the story, buy all potions, meet all animals, etc. If you're looking for just a cutesy game with buggy mechanics that are fun to mess with (picking up animals and running around for no reason, using potions to make your animals huge and run around, etc), then the game is for you. But if you're looking for a story game where you fall in love with the characters, Calico won't provide that.

@@yanderedani9039 I definitely agree with you on most of this. There's this REALLY fun game called Calico. It's where you run a cat cafe and you collect all these different magical animals and put them in your cafe and you can decorate it however you'd like and you can make so many different friends. It's a very diverse and welcoming game as well. It is a little buggy but the devs are fixing them very fast!😊

These game recommendations are really good, thank you for the video! Professor Layton is a classic and Spiritfarer's cute too. Another chill game I recommend is A Short Hike.

Fire Emblem Three Houses is an absolute vibe. Replayed it as different houses and loved it so much. Donut county is such a random game but so much fun. Spiritfarer is on my wishlist and now I added To The Moon to it too :)

I'd recommend Our Life: Beginnings & Always (on Steam) over Café Enchanté for an Otome; Our Life: Beginnings & Always only has one route, but it's super chill. Café Enchanté gets dark real quick once you start the individual routes lol.

I just got this video randomly recommended to me. Just wanted to say that you have an amazing voice and it's a pleasure to listen to you talking about video games. And yes, To The Moon is amazing, I had no idea what I was getting into when I booted it up for the first time a couple of years ago. The story is wonderful, pixel art is beautiful, everyone who likes emotional games should play it, especially considering that it's not a long game.

Another cozy game, if you have apple arcade, is Mutazione. Aside from the story, it centers around planting gardens and learning about the people in the small community of Mutazione (one of them being mc's grandfather). Each garden centers around a certain "vibe", if you will, and each plant has its own sound/instrument so once the garden is complete to your liking, it creates a song. I personally found it really fun and interesting to learn about all the characters, collect seeds, and design the layout of each garden 🖤

There's another game for the PS that was really chill and kinda existential but I can't remember the name. The player is a car (or a person in the car? I don't remember that well lol) stuck on a cliff and can converse the wildlife.
