I have seldom if ever questioned Hyde's managerial moves but leaving in Soto after the first left-handed batter was questionable. The pinch hitting for Holliday and Cowser were the worst moves I have ever seen Hyde make.
@@generoberts9151 The Suarez move was textbook as that's about as far as Albert goes on 20 minutes notice. I don't believe Hyde would throw anything and I know you are just being hyperbolic. The two pinch hitters just looked like desperation moves. Perhaps they were a reaction to losing Grayrod.
When a pitcher enters the game he now either has to face three hitters or reach the end of the inning. He had no choice but to leave Soto in to face Kirk and Varsho. After that Barger was another lefty hitter, so they intentionally walked Clement to get to him. Got ahead 0-2 but then couldn't finish him off. I didn't mind the pinch-hit for Holliday (who's had just one hit against LHP in 7 career AB's), but the Mayo one was an absolute head-scratcher. Cowser's been hot and is only hitting a little worse against LHP than RHP... why lift him for a rookie with no major league hits yet??
@@recencybias3637 Well unless you pitched anytime in the last 5 games why can’t he go longer. He started half the season. How much notice do you need? If you are ready you are ready. They are professionals aren’t they?
Why did you pinch hit for Holliday when he was the only guy to hit the ball? Why did you pull smith after 2 guys? Getting cute with these changes that are costing games.
@@ChasingPerfection also put in Mayo who hasn't had a major league hit to PH for Cowser on a 17 game hitting streak. the more you think about it you realize Hyde is part of the problem
@@johnrobertson421 That's the only one I'm irked by... Slater for Holliday, fine, and Slater had a great AB... getting Soto another LHB to face after the HR, fine (since he couldn't have come out any earlier than the Varsho double anyhow). But that last one upset my stomach.
He’s become so analytical it’s like he’s not even human anymore. We might as well just have a computer managing our team. I don’t know if this is something that upper management is pushing, but if it’s not then dude has zero feel for the game right now.
Hyde made so many dumb decisions today! I couldn't believe it. WTF!!!! Cowser is 3rd in hits in the AL for the last 15 days! He PH him for a rookie with 0 hits with bases loaded?
When pressed to actually MANAGE a game, Brandon Hyde does not know how to. You heard him say "I took my chances with a lefty" That's no way to manage. You don't take hot hitters out to "Take a chance" Every move should be calculated to score, to win the game.
Grayson did the right thing by telling somebody instead of tryna power through it. We'll make due with what we got. And as far as all the hate mail I got yesterday about suggesting that we send both Holliday & Mayo back down to preserve their rookie seasons: know this WE OWN THE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR AWARD FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE. Holliday ain't old enough to buy a drink and he deserves the chance to compete for that honor next year...and as far as him being moved to 2nd base he decided to move over there to be on the team...and if he decides he don't like it he can always walk into the office and ask to be traded so he can have a chance at SS...and nobody here is gonna hold it against him
Bringing in Soto didn't bother me. Elias traded for him, Soto is on the 26 man roster, bullpen arms have to be used (although Suarez could have pitched longer). Fine. But pinch hitting Mayo for Cowser was so bad that I don't think a little league manager would have done it.
pinch hitting 2 of the hottest bats in the line up in a must score moment was actually a pretty big bozo move, splits be damned. I'd rather have seen Cowser and Holliday strike out trying. Mayo could have pinch hit for Urias if he really wanted to hive him a chance.
I didn't see this game but the comments regarding Hyde's decisions are a bit concerning. He's made other decisions in other games which were puzzling to say the least.
This game was doomed from the start. Suarez actually pitched great. Soto has been an absolute nightmare since he's come over. And then the 8th inning was embarrassing on multiple levels (Managing & execution). If Grayson is done for the year, we might as well pack it in. The injury bug has dethroned us this year.
Brandon Hyde needs to take some responsibility for todays loss. took Suarez and Smith out too early, should have saved Soto for a clean inning to come into. and taking out Cowser and Holliday in a game like that is ridiculous. give them a chance, i dont care about left on left, give them a chance before the players get here
Seems as tho everybodys panties in a bunch about the bad moves Hyde made last night. His worst move was puttin Urias over there at 3rd so he could fumble the 3rd out and SLAP HYDE IN THE FACE. Hyde must be Catholic cuz every time he gets slapped in the face he turns the other cheek and takes another one. It wasn't Rutchmann who cant throw or pinch hitting for the hot hand or a lousey pickup in the BP. Im gettin damn tired of these head cases that aint happy
This was a garbage game for Baltimore. How does Cowser, Santander, Gunnar and O'Hearn all have 0 hits? And then the buffoon of a coach decides to pull Holliday for Slater. Holliday scored the only run Baltimore! But he decides to keep Urias in who is also hitless. Then he pulls Cowser who's on a 15 game hitting streak. Wow just wow!

I swear if I knew any better I’d think he threw the game. What you all said and also took Suarez out with 70 pitches

Guy is off…. some thinking to do about this guy.
ruined a 19 game hitting streak
Hyde must of betted on this game cause the coaching in this game was laughable
You should be manager, I hear you rock your fantasy league roster moves.
Why pitch Soto in a tight game? He is a mess! Anyone but him at this point. It's nearly impossible to have a WHIP of 9.00, but that's what he has!
Soto is really bad! No high leverage situations for him.
We have to know who to trust in high level situations. This is early August-give Hyde some grace.

Did I miss something, why was Smith taken out after only 3 batters, he had 2 outs, let him finish the inning and this game is completely different
Any chances of Os winning this game was destroyed by Hyde’s managing moves. I’m still scratching my head on the cluster F!!!
