    The Christmas evening events at beamish are amazing, it’s like stepping into Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol, absolutely magical and definitely fills you full of Christmas spirit. It’s my favourite time of year to visit and can’t recommend it enough!

    I’m 60 now and I remember as a schoolboy we went on a day trip to Beamish museum, there wasn’t a great deal then and we had to take packed lunches 😊 I’ve been many times since and it’s definitely worth a visit 👍🏻

    At one time a visit to Beamish was a half day visit. It needs three days now as they add actual buildings from the area brick by brick. Never be afraid to ask questions as the staff remember things from their childhood or parents tales. It is truly a living museum keeping not only buildings but preserving our Northern memories and culture.

    If you like Beamish, I'd recommend Cragside. It's mostly Victorian, and being Armstrong's house, it includes some early electrical technology, as well as being the first house to be powered by hydroelectricty! The gardens are also really nice.

    Kakipots another great video you have done, I live in gateshead and visit beamish a lot with my yearly pass you can't see the museum in one day it takes two or three days to see it all, but you must have ran round to get all this in your video well done. You have shown me things I can't get to because I'm in a wheelchair ,thank-you, if you a coming back to the museum pick a weekend when the museum has a steam rally on, they look great going round the town no extra cost. I also like your Jesmond dene video never been before . Many thanks

I’ll definitely dress the part when I visit, and I’ll get any and all friends and family that visit to go as well! I’m very excited for the food, cause I very much enjoy traditionally made foods, especially sweets. ^.^

    Beamish is amazing.
    You'll have to go back when the trolley buses go to the 1950s site. That and next year I would imagine beamish will be celebrating the 200th anniversary of the stockton and darlington railway too.

    I used t9 live in pit houses like these in Denton Burn on the outskirts of Newcastle upon Tyne. Still a lot left like that, in Caroline Cottages, just over the road. And original pit houses from the Caroline Pit that my mother’s family worked. The old Miners Welfare is still standing, spoilt by the local council who can not look after it.

    At a dairy farm local to me lived the last surviving pit pony that worked in the local pit. He was the height of the ponies shown in the film except that he looked like he had been to the gym every day of his life (which, in a way, he had). The other thing to note about them is that they lived down in the pit except for two weeks a year when the pit closed for their summer holiday.

    • @timelordvictorious
      @timelordvictorious 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They lived in the pit?

    • @jeankennedy5445
      @jeankennedy5445 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@timelordvictorious Yes. They had stables at the bottom of the pit shaft. It may have been a different situation for more shallow mines, but our local one was hundreds of feet deep. They were well looked after, though. Still, not ideal for the animals themselves. When you see the conditions that a lot of equines have to work in around the world today it makes you glad they were able to replace those pit ponies with machines.

    If you like salt and vinegar on your chips, it is best to put the vinegar on first otherwise, you'll find most of your salt gets washed off the chips 😉

  • @Charlieb82
    @Charlieb82 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    If you're vegan they cook your chips separately and obviously don't use the beef dripping to cook them in. There's also a chippy in the pit village (which was the first chippy at Beamish) and they cook them in a coal fired fryer - if you stand outside you can get sprinkled with the ash from the chimney. The queues are usually long for the chippy

    "Butt" LOL
    Damn you, woman, you already talked me into Newcastle, and now I have to go to Beamish--I had NO IDEA this existed. Kat, this is an amazing video, to the point where it is starting to feel inaccurate to call your work "videos" because they are like little perfect films. The whole time I was watching I was thinking more about your videography prowess than I was about Beamish. That's sort of a confusing compliment LOL. Anyway, I love licorice. Keep it up and I am going to have to nickname my credit card after you due to all the train tickets you're talking me into xo

    I was going to hit “like” until you went off on how people were dressed. Some of them have come a long way and, in my opinion, were dressed with that in mind. Others may well have been dressed in what they consider their “good” clothes. You came off as a bit of a snob. Up until that point I’d intended to subscribe, as well as “like”. I won’t be doing either.
